The ingame browser kind of sucks. It's slow and doesn't load things properly. I don't know if they want us to, but sometimes I would like to be able to use other non-eve related websites, like email. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Are the creators insisting on using their own software to help control hackers? Does the ingame browser route directly to their server, and therefore increase bandwidth and security issues? Also, is it allowed and possible to use a different browser as the ingame browser?

Well, your best bet would probably be to play EVE as a windowed game (you'll find it in the options menu) and spend all your travel/mining time, browsing on IE or Firefox, and watching vids.

"EVE Ingame Webbrowser
preliminary documentation V0.9
10. March 2005:
The IGB was made to support the EVE gameplay. It is not designed to display all normal HTML pages."
Other than quoting this enlightening document I can't answer your questions. Just use a real browser.

I run a dual monitor setup. Eve on one, internet browser on the other. Works like a charm.

The IGB renders only a very bog-standard version of HTML (IIRC v1.0), whereas most sites today use a much more advanced version.
That said, the IGB does have the funky "trust" feature :)

the IGB is just for sites that players make for eve.
the idea is that it's actully part of the game, not part of the internets.
Thus use IE or fire fox for whatever and use the IBG for looking at eve-geek or corp/allaince forums.
