this is the most up to date backstory page stating there are really only three theirs right now
this page is slightly out of date
any amarr character can vote
the choices are
Uriam Kador -Uriam personifies all the traits that the Kadors hold so dearly: his tall, splendidly proportioned body gives him a majestic aura of grandeur, his keen intellect makes him a master of oratory and rhetoric and his refined manners inspire loyalty and respect. Uriam is a true leader of men, but his ambitions lie not in the realm of power and rule, but rather in the realms of the mind.He has already indicated that he will modernize the stale, conditioning education system within his domain, as well as streamlining the entangled, cumbersome trade laws.
Aritcio Kor-Azor -Aritcio is a master politician, having just the right mixture of dishonesty, paranoia and charm to ooze his way up the political ladder.
Catiz Tash-Murkon -When she was still in her teens she refused to follow the safe, but boring and restricting path her siblings took in the upper echelons of Holder society. Instead, she headed out on her own as a lone miner. From this humble start so many years ago she has slowly worked herself upwards, establishing a business empire to rival even that of her own father. All this time she has refused aid from her family, determined that what she built would be hers and hers alone. Now that she has inherited her fatherĘs vast domains to merge with her own the already formidable economical power of the Tash-Murkons is now stronger than ever. People are already jokingly saying that when Catiz sneezes the whole empire quivers.

Edited by: Darius Shakor on 12/04/2008 15:52:36 One thing, there are not only three there are four.
Read the last paragraph in the first link.
Quote: The heads for three of these families are introduced below. The Heir of the Ardishapur family is Yonis Ardishapur, a champion of the faith and avid collector of religious artifacts, some thought to date since before the closure of the EVE gate. The Sarum family has yet to name an Heir to replace Jamyl Sarum; its domains are currently run by its House Chamberlain.
And of course it mentions that there is a fifth house too but has no named successor to heirship.
That page only profiles three of them but that does not mean there are only three.

Edited by: Allaria Kriss on 12/04/2008 16:42:01 Edited by: Allaria Kriss on 12/04/2008 16:41:51 Aren't you forgetting...
Yonis Ardishapur - The Heir of the Ardishapur family is Yonis Ardishapur, a champion of the faith and avid collector of religious artifacts, some thought to date since before the closure of the EVE gate.
Unknown Sarum Heir - The Sarum family has yet to name an Heir to replace Jamyl Sarum; its domains are currently run by its House Chamberlain.
Just because they keep to themselves, like Ardishapur, or aren't announced, like the Sarum heir, doesn't mean that they don't hold equal sway in the Empire. Ardishapur is even one of the more popular of the five Houses in the Empire, and to discount them because they didn't have a snippet in an article is a bit folly. As for House Sarum, they have always been the militarist wing of the Empire, and discounting them is similarly inappropriate.
Besides, the Amarr don't vote on these sort of things. Once Sarum names their Heir, they will go forth into a meeting, debate, and decide who the new Emperor will be regardless of what we think. After all, we're just Capsuleers...
Oh, and since I'm Minmatar, no vote for me. Just making some corrections...

Jira, you are still wrong. There is no 'main' heir here. All 5 houses have an equal claim to the throne. Some houses may be bigger than others physically, or richer or have larger territory but all of them have an equal chance of their chosen heir becoming emperor.
Of course the Sarum are without an heir right now so would nto be in the running. But Yonis Ardishapur is as much in the running as the other three. Just because CCP did not detail his background does not make him less an heir or somehow excluded. ------ Mirkur Draug'Tyr :: Recruitment |

That the Emperor of Amarr be equated to politicians of mongrel and impure races is blasphemy, plain and simple.
While I do not understand much of the Universe, I do understand that the hand of God will anoint our next Emperor, and events leading to his ascension will validate his claim.
While I am not overly religious, there are things only the future can decide. For me to be a part of this decision, no matter how miniscule one "vote" may be, would infer I am in some way participating in God's decision.
Only God will know and act to give us a new Emperor. Our faith must be proof we are worthy of His intercession, and co-opting that process would be the downfall of the Empire as we know it. |

Some people seem to fail to grasp Amarr politics. We are not voting here in a democratic fashion. Our 'votes' merely show who we will support as Emperor.Being Capsuleers, the chosen champions of the Amarr Empire, who we support is of significant influence. The future Emperor would be well advised to gain the support of as many Capsuleers as possible.
An Emperor without the support of loyal Capsuleer cannot reign, maintain and preserve the Amarr Empire.
We will be a decisive factor in any and all future conflicts the Empire will face.
Ignoring us would be foolish.
