Quite an important question I am sure at least some of you ask yourselves sometimes.
Im mainly curious for those of you that have serious/steady girlfriends or married with children, how do you balance eve life with family life?
I ask this because quite a few people I know have quit eve recently citing this issue.
For my part I am a late night person and my wife is an early person, she goes to sleep early and I then hop on eve. She's also a t.v buff and watches alot of t.v while I play. So its not to say I can only play when the cats away/sleeping.
I mainly can NEVER play while my 2 yr old son is home and awake, I could log in and maybe chat a bit, but between him wanting me or coming at the PC, I couldn't do any sort of combat or other 0.0 operation like even rat.
I guess I am fortunate to have one of those wives who dont complain I spend more time in front the computer, we each do our own thing pretty much.
Curious how other people balance it with more clingy wives, and if you feel you spend too much time playing eve, over spending time with your family.
For me eve is a hobby, so its like spending 5 hours repairing or restoring some crappy old car... just not as much a recognized hobby by the more mainstream. |

EVE and girlfriends/life's are two things that don't go hand and hand. Personally, I play when shes at school, or when I'm at work. But when I'm home with her, I willingly spend time with her.. unless we're fighting.
And, yes... a little back rub buys me EVE/free time. |

I traded in my old wife. She was a game hating, life draining, man eating, evil soul sucking mega *****. Now i say this in a good way, cause the sex was rockin.
My new woman is an Eve Loving, flower of happy bright goodness, who breathes life into every step i take. She plays eve more then i do, and can pew pew like a warrior princess. Plus the sex is rockin with her too..... in bed pew pew |

I put my fiance thru law school, for $150K you too can have 3 years of relative quiet. Unfortunately she is graduating soon and will be on my case again. Perhaps future-Ex-wife is a better term than fiance. |

Can be difficult when the GF hates EVE with a passion, but work situation means that I can play 2 days a week while she's at work and i'm at home so no real big issues, just have to make sure I don't play while she's at home as aggro is un-tankable.

I let my wife talk to her annoying friends about annoying stuff and she lets me play Eve.
We annoy each other equally so it cancels each other out and all is well.
Also she makes me cook, clean, and pay for everything.

eve-online is responsible for 5 years of failed relationships. I just enjoy my eve time to much. I have recently decided to stay away from women until i find one that plays an MMO, not eve though i hope, because i would not want them convoing me every 2 minutes. "tony do you wanna come mine tonight?" "for gods sake woman, Im trying to lead a gang through rancer"

I have a wife and year and a half old kid. Plus the Military...
I play as I can, when i can, and how I can. Untill the last few months my play time was steady while at home. I make sure to devote a few nights a week soley to my wife. The rest was when the kid was in bed and I set her up foe WoW (she tried eve, didn't like it...WoW is great..in that it keeps her off my back)
Alternatively when I find a computer that also gives fellatio I may have found a solution for us all. |

I have a med-high maintenance wife and a 5 year old boy. I spend most of my time with them. I play Eve 1.5-2 hours a night after they go to sleep. Then I play periodically when they are gone, or I get some "me" time.
Eve is just a game, so I make it a lower priority than anything else. Don't get me wrong, I love Eve, but there are some things that are more important.
If I was single and didn't have a child, I'd be addicted to Eve, wear depends, eat cake mix out of a box, drink my 3 liters of Dr. Pepper a day, probably gain 200 lbs, and stay in my house ever second other than having to go out to work to make money to play Eve. |

Earn isk, buy GTC's = WIN!!!...
My GF is asleep next to me as I speak (type)... She goes works/college during the day so I get some "sleep" while she's out.. And when she's asleep that's my EVE time, apart from when I need to switch a skill i'll nip on EVE for 10-15mins..
It's rather good, but I have a sneaky feeling it's all coming to an end, she wants us both into full time work, so we can get a apartment together ..
But for now... it's a guuuurd life!! ------------------

That! My wife is playing way more Sims than I'm playing Eve (admittedly, I'm working and she isn't), so everything is fine. Unfortunately, she isn't into if, but I hope to get her into one of the new Fantasy RPGs that are being published soon (like WAR)

Simply by playing EVE marginally. When my first daughter was born two years ago, I decided to quit World of Warcraft, which is basically a timesink in a fantasy setting. I recently found EVE, and while it might sound stupid, I find warm anf fuzzy by thinking "Oh, well, cannot play today...but my character WILL have drone interfacing IV tomorrow no matter what, so when I can snatch an hour to play..."
I love EVE for what it is and how it is, and my rarely played toon (think 3 or 4 hours per week, tops) only falls behind in ISK.

Same here. Wife loves TV and I cannot stand it. That leaves me 45 to 1 hour some days after having dinner, or before going to bed.

Same here. It's just how things are. If my 2 years old daughter is awake and around, I can't simply do anything.

My wife respects my little hobby. It's not as if I play HOURS a day, or even every day.

I am young and so is my wife, so videogames have been an active part of both of our lives. She enjoys the Sims and Mahjong arcades, or playing online chess. I play EVE. We have quite a satisfactory balance. http://www.geocities.com/vagrantweapons/db.jpg |

My girlfriend doesn't play EvE, and we coexist like a happy interdependent couple.
Plus, she gets a kick out of some of my antics while i'm playing.
i.e. *While in my throwaway Vexor* "I'm. In. My. Space. BOOMERANG!"
*While in the Thorax going to a gate* Her: "Is that ****?"

my gf thinks eve is a stupid waste of time, and gets stroppy if i'm on vent and not listening to her tell me about the cats or some other stupid *******s. I'm left with a couple of eve nights a week that i've usually arranged with her in advance.
on the other hand i love her to bits, and she's probably doing me a favour stopping me playing 23-7 anyway and making me go outside. |

This - for me. My girlfriend and I like our own space (and that makes the time we do spend together better as well). The most annoying thing is that if she wants something then she wants it now! so haven't gotten involved in any corps yet - trading and missions you can park up in a safe spot at a moments notice.
As for children we have 3 - and they spend a lot of time playing together which is good - also if I am playing when they are around I often end up with a small audience and lots of questions (and requests for 'can we look at the enemy ship')
