I remember being able to tweak overview settings so that when someone in the system stole from you, a red skull appears next to their name in local.
Can this still be done? If so how?
Also, can you have a yellow skull appear next to names in local (sec status <0) or a black bounty skull?
Thanks in advance

A Skull next to a pilot's name means they have a bounty on them.
A yellow background on a pilot's name means they have less than 0 security status.
You cannot assign a skull to whomever you want.
If someone steals from you, they should start flashing red on your Overview. That is by default settings. If you've minkied with the settings it will work the way you've set it, including colour changes, flashing/not-flashing, etc. _______ We are Ushra'Khan. We come for our people. |

I am aware of what they mean. I just want to know (if possible) how you set it up to show black and yellow skulls next to peoples names in local.
This is useful for mining in lowsec. If people rock up in local with bounties and/or low sec. It would be nice to see those icons on their names in local without having to show info on everyone.
So can the black/yellow skulls be set to show up on people in local?

Oh, in local window.
No, you can set them for corp/alliance standings though. So you can have blue stars/pluses, red, orange & light blue. (And green alliance stars, and purple gang icons)
That's it though.
Edit: Looking at overview Appearance settings, it looks like maybe you can have them after all. Hmm. Must play with settings.
Edit again: Yup , sure can. How' bout that. |

Not sure if it answers your question exactly, but if you see them stealing from you then you can set your standing with them to be low and you do then get coloured warnings in local. You just right click them and set the standing. |

Someone stole from me the other night. I looked in local and they had already left. There were only 7 people in local and no red skull. You say this skull will apear automatically in the local channel? Can a thief be traced through warp? Where they went?

No it will not. The only thing that appears in Local, or any chat channel are corp/alliance standings, and maybe personal.
No, a thief cannot be traced through warp unless you actually see in which direction they warped and can recognize a likely location for them to warp to, e.g. a planet or station.
Edit - I should reiterate that a skull only appears when someone has a bounty placed upon them by another player. This has nothing to do with whether they stole your ore or not. |

Edited by: Yoinks on 13/04/2008 10:50:52 There is a little confusion here.
Previously, I have been able to tweak my settings that someone who steals from you can get the red skull next to their name in local chat. Useful for leaving half a can of ore on a belt for a macro miner to pickup while you wait aligned and ready to warp. Once they steal, the red skull appears, warp, pop, laugh.
My question is here, how do you enable that? I have done it before. I also want to know if you can also do the same for people with bounties(black skull), and sec status < 0(yellow skull)

I was told these white skulls on red background in local come up if these people are engaged in shooting or something.
I have seen them on people that are no where near me, with no corp mates in the system, without low standings on them.
I don't know what the reason is. Join channel: "Eve University" or read here |

The problem with this is in my case I see this come up and they are not stealing from me as I have nothing to steal nor are they anywhere near me. Join channel: "Eve University" or read here |

I think this means they are global criminally flagged. They have a sec status too low for the system (and are a free target) or they attacked someone. It doesn't have to be stealing.

Edited by: Shanur on 14/04/2008 07:30:15 Edited by: Shanur on 14/04/2008 07:30:08 The preference for displaying "target is attackable for whatever reason" (default flashy red) can be found under "Target is at war with you" in both the foreground and background tabs of the Overview settings (at least in classic client. Not sure if this also holds true for Premium).
EDIT: To change the display from flashy red to red skull, that means unchecking the Use checkbox in the background settings and checking the one in the foreground settings. That should change it from a flashing background to an icon. Note that this will ONLY affect overview. NOT local.

/me patiently waits for Tzar'rim to appear, to clear everything up.
Seriously - your overview can be configured to do this properly. Tzar'rim has a good video for this, so I would recommend doing a search for it. (Or, just wait - he's usually very diligent about helping out.)

YES, you can set up the overview to show a red skull next to globally-criminally-flagged people. I don't know how to do it, though, it was done by default when I upgraded to the latest patch. It's an overview setting, even though it's Local. I don't think you can see the black skulls or yellow ones in local. |
