In general they have been. Only ATUK has been problematic recently. The difference with SA is that many corps in SA took to attacking us including core founding corps which ultimately led to current hostilities. However, I understand how you might see this as a double standard in some respects. Its not a situation we want because CA has been in many respects a friendly neighbor. However, as you know, we do have a lot of tolerance and a very active diplomatic approach.
Quote: After such a good show of sportsmanship from all sides perhaps we can put our differences behind us and we might go back to fighting some of the more vocal enemies we have. (I cant promise anything though as Im merely a soldier doing as he's told)
I agree. A nice vision

Edited by: TIvian on 21/04/2004 10:27:39 In a simplifyed explination of Curse Alliance being called pirates..Legit Corporations that move to the Curse Region bring m0o and Sinister and Red Corsairs in to the Alliance when these corporations decide to give piracy up and go legit and just PvP....So now everyone in the Curse Alliance is now labled as Pirates. And Curse ends up fighting everyone in Eve at all fronts.
Some of you dropped the Curse Alliance are pirates thing. Some have never let it go. I have been in Curse since September and I have been called all kinds of names, Pirate being the least offensive. When I was not in Curse I had a clear cut definition of what a pirate was in Eve. Now there seems to be some confusion as to what piracy in this game is....So lets turn to the dictionary shall we?
pirate n
1. somebody who commits robbery on the high seas, especially regularly
2. a ship used by people who rob or otherwise attack shipping on the high seas
Well I guess high seas would be open space in the case of Eve. But lets take a look at robbery.
robbery n
the act or an instance of illegally taking something that belongs to somebody else, especially by using force, threats, or violence.
as and added bounus lets take a look at Piracy
piracy n
1. robbery on the high seas, especially the stealing of a ship's cargo
2. robbery committed on board any form of transportation, especially an aircraft
3. the hijacking of an aircraft or another form of transportation
Going back to the release of Eve. Piracy or pirates sat at gates and locked down other ships and charged "Tolls" to pilots wanting to use gates. Indies were taken down for cargo. Extortion was used to gain ISK from pilots at gates...time to head to the dictionary again...
extortion n
1. the crime of obtaining something such as money from somebody using illegal methods of persuasion
2. the charging of an excessive amount of money for something (informal)
3. the acquiring of anything through the use of force or threats
Well I would say that def #2 is not related unless you think of say a game company who charges you to pay for a game still in a beta state.
Def #3 is somthing that was going on all the time and to some degree still goes on.
In the Eve Universe...to me as a player who did not start in a regional alliance and sat in empire space and never went to 0.0 space untill late Augast....m0o, Sinister and Red Corsairs, M3G4...then later Paladins of the Red Skull and Space Invaders....These were the guys that gate camped...and so to me a pirate was a gate camper at high traffic low sec gates and charged tolls by extortion and blew up indies for there cargo. Even more simplifyed.....Pirate=Give me ISK or you lose what you have.
Well, I have never said to any one that I took down "Stand and Deliver" I have never charged any one a toll. I have a clear cut standard that I have defined enemies and I kill them...plain and simple. Why? because I like to fight...So how does that make me a pirate? I have no bounty...I am always poor so I dont get it......explain it to me
So...After looking at all this....it still comes down to this.....I dont care what you think of me. I dont care what you call me. I am a proud member of the greatest Alliance in Eve....WE in the Curse Alliance have kicked and still kick everyones butt and yes some people have won battles...but not the wars.
We are the bad guys that you all love to hate and we like it that way! Personally I would rather have every Pirate Corp come and join Curse Alliance to fight along side with me...I would rather play the part that everyone in Eve wants us to be....The region of Space that is populated with former and current Pirate corporations.
Like I have always said in these forums.....GOD HELP YOU ALL if the Curse Alliance turned to totall Piracy. Personally I hope we do.....I am tired of being poor.
SO in closing.....Go down to your local hardware store...buy your self the biggest ladder you can find.....AND GET OVER IT!!!!

5 frigs 3 MOA/Caracal/Thorax 1 Tempest
(losses on ATUK side versus losses on Xetic side should be counted against that they WERE outnumbered)

TIvian, so CA doesn't pirate.... it griefs? I don't know enough about CA activities in areas other than Catch to give an oppinion on whether or not they're pirates, but I do know that in several areas other than Catch gates camps have been set up by CA, with mobile warp disruptors, to destroy any ship that enters the area, regardless of alignment to alliances (except other CA members of course). However it seems to me all you've done with your post is say 'But look, we don't pirate, because we don't ask them for money before we blow up their ship'.
Anyway, I don't very much care whether CA are pirates or not, truth is there are wars being faught all over 0.0 space and people get caught in the crossfire, even SA has been forced to start KOS'ing anyone in Catch or Stain who is not directly aligned with us, it's simply too much trouble to keep track of all the people who are 'innocent' (especially when a single 2 week old alt in a kestrel can easily take out a few indys or frigs/cruisers).

Xelios please tell me someone else you know in real life hijacked your keyboard and typed that. That is complete and utter ignorance otherwise. You know that Catch is a warzone, anything is KOS there bar Xetic in the opinion of CA/C4. It has been this way for a while now and most of eve should know that unless there is a special arrangement or u belong to Xetic/Ca/C4/SA then you will be shot upon by either SA or CA.
So unless you want to play ignorance some more, edit that post and stop trying to chat "S.H.I.T". Reverend Necrona |

How do you get griefing out of fighting wars? I am not going to get into who fired the first shot in which war. the fact of the matter is. CA gate camp with Mobile Warp Disruptors to catch our enemies. Now should I look up the definition of enemie for you?
We don't use those WD's in systems that are not war zones. And if your refering to B-VIP? that is our claimed space and a door to empire which has and is being camped by enemies listed as KOS.
And for you info Xelios Catch and SA territory has always been "closed" even back in Aug. Same with Fountain. SA just didn't magicaly have a need to recently close its borders....that crap doesnt fly with me...I was attacked by Stain in Aug when I was not even in Curse Alliance at the time I was just out checking out stuff.
Your post makes no sense. make sure you read before you type, that way you sound you don't sound like a an ignorant fool.

I believe CA are pirates, why?
They sent about fifty ships on a romp through a few different regions at the weekend. Fade, Tribute and a few other regions.
None of the Corps they attacked are at war with CA, none of the Corp owned stations are at war with the CA.
So a very large CA fleet was flying around 0.0 they don't claim and is already claimed by a few other alliances that CA are not at war with. What do CA do in this space, they attack EVERY ship/station that is not CA.
Do we se SA, NORAD, FU, C0D or any alliance that claims to be none pirate do this, NO. Just CA.
I have fought them quite a bit down in CA space and only two CA Corps have my respect; Black Omega and The Peoples Front of Minmitar (the latter Corp left CA a while ago).
All the other Corps I have fought against that are in CA just smacktalk in local and run unless they outnumber the enemy heavily.
Bosie.

Estios, ( and i dont wanna start a fight here) Its actually great to see you having fun with as we do, and that your recent battle went very for you.
I see that you ATUK were outnumbered throughout the fight and indeed it looks like you were the overall victors in terms of ship kills. You are to be congratulated.
Knowing this information I wonder if you could answer a question that has been buggin me for the last few weeks. It relates to our fight in Yulai where you waited until you out numbered us more than 2:1 i beleive, you also shouting out in local for us to show ourselves, which we did, in fact we waited at a gate for what was getting on for an hour whilst your scouts showed up and made bookmarks etc etc. Then you all warped in and the fight resulted in an even loss of ships.
I guess since this battle you have now changed operational tactics and have started to fight on a more fair basis? Or was it a one off this time knowning that you could beat your opponent with less numbers?
They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's Corp. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason. |

Ok I know you directed this to Estios, and I am sure you will get him to answer as well but let me speak my 2 isk.
" It relates to our fight in Yulai where you waited until you out numbered us more than 2:1"
We weren't waiting to outnumber you, you had almost all scorps with the ability to have a lone jammer on each of our ships so we needed a bit more ships to just shoot at you. we were out numbered and we called for a few more ships, is it our fault we had more people rdy to have fun then you did.
"also shouting out in local for us to show ourselves"
We really didn't think you would show yourself and I don't think you would of if we didn't shout out, so it worked.
"resulted in an even loss of ships"
um no, you all lost ships to our fighters while we lost ships to concord.
Might I add, when we did warp in you all looked like a bunch of deer cought up in headlights frozen. did you even fight back or where you all too busy with eve minimized while reading and posting on the forums? ----------------------------------------------- What doesn't kill you makes you injured.

Yes you did indeed (well at least me) catch us like Sheep, Struck Dumb in the headlights of the car. But this was due to the fact that not 40 mins earlier your CEO (forgive me, cant remeber his name) shouted "We have even numbers" I was a bit suprised to see double our numbers turn up.
But my question which you did not answer still stands. Have you now changed operational procedures from waiting until you have a larger force before you engadge in a fight, or was this just a one off?

It doesnt really work like that. We dont say...oooh we need to take X amount of people to Y because we think the enemy has Z amount of forces..... Whoever wants to go fight, goes! and we'll see what happens from there. Sometimes our force is bigger, sometimes its not. Sometimes we get a good fight, sometimes its staring at empty space. But contrary to what you're trying to insinuate, we arent afraid to make the best of bad odds. Hell, who likes flying ~30 jumps and then not getting a good rumble

We we didn't had that much more BS until 5min before the end. When the 8 reinforcements came. But still it was a good fight, i hadn't had high regard of ATUK before the fight but i think rather different about them now. So one more ATUk saying it, CELES shut up and play, stop whining about odds, ATUK strategies etc and if you are so fired up then come pick a fight. If you care to continue taking carebear shots in game or inaccurate forum posts then please do it somewhere else and stop wasting CCPs bandwidth
