Quote: Hi folks,
here is my opinion about eve after 12 days. Eve is a great game, but not a real multiplayer game. There are way too few possiblities for interesting multiplaying.
1.) High levels have no point in grouping with a low level. This is because big means better in eve. This mwd's are deadly for the game balance. Battleships are slow. And a bunch of small ships should be able to take out a battleship. Why shouldn't a frigate be able to carry one big torpedo to really hit a battleship. But it must be way faster than the bs then. Take the mwd out of the game. At least: allow only one per ship. A battleship with over 10km/s, thats a joke.
2.) Mining: Mining is boring! Sorry to say, but sitting in a high sec system and watch my cargo grow, thats not really interesting. But that seems the only way to me to make real money. You can join for a mining party, but there are not real options for an interesting character.
3.) Agent missions. If i want to do such agent mission, i would buy a single player game. I heard, that there will be multiplayer missions from lvl 4 agents. But multilplayer should start from the beginning. It could be easyly fixed: Give the gangleader missions, that are calculated upon the capabilities of the entiere gang. And give everybody in the gang the standing for it. And of course: pay everyone better, than for missions one would have done alone.
4.) Deep space: a newbie can't go to deep space. Why? Again: frigates are way to slow. A moderate frig, lets say 1mil with all equipment, would be a great scout. But it won't survive with all that bs beeing twice as fast, and apply a warp stasis so easyly. (ok, maybe there is a anti device i have just not found that fits in a frig)
5.) Very little character diversity. There are only few ways to go: Fighter, Producer, Scientist. Have you ever seen another roleplaying game? It takes you at least 6 very different character classes to get a figthing combo, each of them perfectly adding to the group. Thats the fun of mulitplayer games, that you need a lot of different specialists to get one job done, not pure mass of almost identical chars.
6.) Little point in pvp. Killing other ppl. Nice. But what for? Were is the boarding ship. And the ship disable-gun. Disable a battlecruiser, and have a boarding party at hand, that would really encourage things.
Ok, you must give characters a reason for advancing. When a noob (or 3 of 'em) would take out a battleship, the game would be pointless. But i think, big ships still would have their point. You absolutely need them for fixed targets, such as outposts and hopefully soon stations. You need them, because they must have enough firepower that you can not attack anything else in the vincinity until the bs is down, such as a mining group. And you should need them as carriers for long distance operations. Let's shut down some gates, and provide bs with jump AND carrier capability. The the bs would be at the right place: a large, slow and expensive specialist in a mixed group, and not just some better ship. And you could save all the time thinking about bounty for noob-training cooperations.

12 Days shows you nothing of this game, it takes 5 times longer than that just to learn what everything does.
Your complaining about mining being repetative and boring? So is shooting the same lame looking monster in other mmo's 2340984309834098times to go up a few levels. Vary what you do... Whats the big race to have billions of isk? You will only moan when you do as you have everything and are bored again
Little Multiplayer aspect?? On the contrary teamplay in this game is totally vital more so than any other game ive seen.
Basically you just need to play the game for longer rather than make rash assumptions caus you aint able to afford a Battleship and have 100mill in the bank after 12days.
Basically all you are showing is your total lack of patience for an mmo and a great lack of understanding for what is probably the greatest MMO ever released. I would hang around longer and learn more Sass Arcane Technologies |
