When I started playing EVE I thought it was a wild fascinating game with endless possbilities and worlds of exploration sprinkled with innovative strategic PvP.
While my expectations were met for awhile EVE grows increasingly boring. I can fly Tech II ships, Gate/Station Camp, I have Rank 5 leadership skills and can make all the Isk I want...Somehow it just ends up being dull.
Grind for Standing, Grind for Isk, Grind Skills by waiting months on end. Ultimately this game has more grinding than WoW could even have imagined up and when you get all done grinding it is time to either sell your soul to an Alliance or play Numbers in what EVE calls PvP. Some really love that but I just am not very thrilled with EVE's combat, though my hat is off to Red Vs. Blue for their attempts to make it more fun, you guys rock.
In the end though I play a game to have fun and while techicaly I am not paying for EVE anymore it is so unfun that I do not even feel like making the Isk to buy the time cards and as a result, as stated, I am done.
I would have loved to have really been able to help one Empire succeed over another, to really get into true faction warfare, to take part in building the facilities of a station, to see the interaction when we can walk around and visit bars and gambling houses...I would have loved to enjoy deeper interaction with the world of EVE but all that you can really do is kill someone or not. In the end the best way to get lasting fame is to do something outlandish that the Dev's did not forsee and get banned for it, but force them to change something forever. Not what I would call a good standard to set.
I will leave on this note however: Devs, I know you are working hard and that some day EVE may be more of what I hoped it would be, I know you try to make it the best you can and I appriciate you efforts, and even if you get it wrong sometimes, which is what we humans do, you take your shame along with your glory with a lot of spine. I am glad that I was a small part of your game and the community for awhile but I just cannot wait any longer. Better things have come along and I am afraid I am going to have to move on. I wish you success in the future and hope that everyone here in EVE has a good time.
With that I leave you, and no you cannot have my stuff, I am grinding up my character and all she owns, .

Nope, sorry, it is all being ground to a pulp. The Wolf, the Inties, the BS, the BC, all the Tech II fittings, the Rigs, everything. +++++++++++++++ For the LAST time...

From the way you mentioned WoW, I can't help but think your on about that... BTW
Don't grind your character/everything she owns, because you know one day you "might" want to return when all the new eye candy, or the patch we've all been waiting for arrives, and when it does your gonna be ****ed that you did that..
Hope you have a good gaming life elsewhere, but please don't burn your bridges too soon..

Like in real-life, in here the only purpose you can find is the one you make for yourself. If you're just bored and disilusioned, have no in-game friends to hold you in here and see no possible way the game could interest you at all... well... farewell.
You might still want to keep the char/goodies intact in case you DO change your mind later on. I mean you never know, SOME future expansion MIGHT bring something you can crave for again. And starting over from scratch is a pain in the posterior.

LOL actually I have yet to play WoW but I know some people who talk about it. Somehow, despite having loved Warcraft I just do not think WoW sounds that appealing. Of course Warcraft was an RTS and WoW is not so I guess that may be it right there.
As for burning bridges, thanks for the worry, but they will be nuked good. Not going to leave any reason to come back. +++++++++++++++ For the LAST time...

why not burn it in mindless and deliberate application of violence to random strangers? thats what eve is all about and it would be a nice farewell gesture.

I don't blame you. Some days, I wonder why I keep playing. I actually enjoy the character skill system in EvE because it is sort of like a very long term hobby which takes time similar to putting an old hot rod together from scratch in your garage and pimping it out.
However, what to do once the car is built? The PvP is truly a joke and there is very little skill involved no matter what anyone says. It boils down to who has the most numbers and alts. I played DAOC for three years and while you never lose anything (except pride and time) when you lose a battle in that game, there is considerably more skill required pvping in that game. There is almost no solo game in EvE unless you want to run missions or other forms of PvE 23/7. 0.0 life is like a second job and a logistical nightmare while Empire is just boring.
I might be looking into Warhammer until another space game comes along. I don't really want to go back to Elves and Trolls lol but at least Mythic knows how to make a fun pvp game as proven by DAOC.

Edited by: La Hafiz on 14/04/2008 03:34:53 After "leaving" Eve three times, every time vowing to never come back (I still hate myself for not training level Vs during those times of absence!), I've come back every time. I'm sure in a half-years time you will be back, so I can only suggest for you to not grind up your assets and to keep them for when you come back.
On a less serious note, may I have your stuff, please? I'm hopping in my first command ship this weekend, so I could use all the help I can get :D

Mind throwing a mil my way hehe , I'm only messin.. If that's how you feel, then I take my hat off to you as you have more guts than I do.. I've always wanted to rid myself of my gaming addiction, or even my EVE addiction at times, sometimes I last a few days, sometimes a week or 2, but I always come back..
Once again though, have fun wherever you go, that's what it's about... Take care ------------------

Oh and like a couple others have said, you should hold onto your assets just in case. I know you said that you want to destroy them so that you will never be tempted to come back but you never know what the future might hold. Maybe the devs will put something into this game that you will like and you will want to come back. Otherwise, you might as well just delete your characters too.

This game is grindtastic until you get to your role/goal, then it's fun. If you on't think this game is fun by that point then by all means sell/delte your character and move on. |

Real life is a grind if you look at it that way. You grind for learning, you grind for girl friend, you grind for money, you grind for wife, you grind for everything you ever dreamed off.

Sounds like the sandbox concept has gotten the best of you. If cant put up goals for yourself that you find fun, then maybe youre not in the right game. You talk about faction warfare, again a goal put up by the game for you. If you lost you goal, and are stuck grinding for no purpose other than to make isk, then you are imo doing it wrong |

No, but you get lots of emails telling you how pretty it is now. So you log in and go, still no legs, change skill and log out again.
