Edited by: Xantheris on 14/04/2008 16:11:39 I'd like to throw in my own personal experience here. Even though I am a COMPLETE noob at the Eve Market I decided about 3 weeks ago that I'd start a trading alt to bring in cash for PvP. And when I say market noob, I really mean market noob. I use to sell my missioning, excess PvP items, and even minerals/ore for whatever the market had Buy Orders up for... neglecting HUGE differences in Buy and Sell Order prices. I would also buy things I needed at immense markups, just because I didn't want to wait 1, 2 or 3 days for the price to change, or move to a different region for a lower price.
Firstly, I have been reading the MD for months, trying to understand WTH all these people are talking about... Which I still don't.
I did a few things at first like Ambo. I decided I do NOT want to haul AT ALL. I also decided I want a mix of low volume and high volume, to try and hedge my investments so to speak, and because I didn't want to have to check all the Orders I'd be setting up every day.
Step 1: To make the Alt, with pure trading skills. (I probably should have done research FIRST though... lol)
Step 2: Sit this Alt in my chosen trade hub and look at the market for a few days. (Should have been a few weeks)
Step 3: Start Operations!
At this point I have been pretty much day-trading for about 2 weeks, and I have turned 5mil isk into 120mil. Although I have to admit more than a few times I have purely been lucky to catch the market on a day it has been on the rise, only to see it absolutely PLUMMET on the next day!
Again, as the previous posters said, just study, dive in... and keep an eye out on good and bad trends. I have quickly been learning that to know when to get OUT of a trade is just as important as to know when to get IN on the trade.
EDIT: Oh man I almost forgot... Get Ambo's EMMA. I didn't use it when I first started, but then figured I should try it. And I have to say it multiplies my ability to trade astronomically. Ambo, thanks again for that application! |
