Hi All I've been playing for a little while and my KB is crapping out. Now i am looking for a new KB, im looking at the g15 from logitech and razer turantula gaming kb.
I believe that the Logitech g15 is a acceptable keyboard and that you are allowed to use the programmable keyboard.
I want to clarify weather i can user the this kb http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=40 or is there a list of KB's (with programmable kb) that is acceptable and or arenÆt acceptable by CPP..
I donÆt want to go and buy a expensive kb and not be able to use it or get banned for using it

I can't speak for CCP, but generally speaking, programmable keyboards that simply bind keys (e.g. bind G1=F1, F2, F3, F4 or G3=ALT+SPACE) are fine.
CCP specifically bans people who modify the interface or somehow create something that allows complex tasks (e.g. mine to jetcan, hauler picks up ore and returns to station, user sitting at work miles from the keyboard or asleep). If you're AFK and making ISK through use of macros, that's when CCP will try to find and ban you. If you're sitting at the keyboard and actively participating in the game, the it's generally OK.
I speak in general terms only and none of this has official backing of CCP, but it's what I've gathered over my time in the game and watching these forums (including seeing a couple of posts from CCP employees).

thanks for the reply's. thats great, so CCP have a statment any where, relating to the programable buttons ? i totaly understant the spirit of it all, some to the options i was looking to utilise (F1-F8) fire all missiles release drones and attack target retract drones
i believe that these functions already have keybard shortcuts.
and basicly i believe that the programable functions on keyboards can only string together KB commands.

The G15 is a legit piece of hardware to use. CCP has stated so in the past

Thanks very much for the link.
it clearly points out by the devs the intent of the word macro vers bot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone,
Although Gamemasters don't usually post on the forums, I felt it necessary to post here and prevent any misunderstandings. We allow the use of a G15 or similar keyboard operated macro, you press a key and all your guns activate at the intervals you set. That usage is fine, macro clients that allow the user to operate a client without being at the keyboard is not (ie a macro that does everything for you, without you doing anything regardless of where you are).
Hopefully that is end of the discussion of whether G15s are allowed or not, they are allowed.

I haven't tried the Razer but I do use the G15 and yes, those are legit. Also, from looking at a picture of that Razer, it seems that it's not as practical as the G15 due to the extra key layout.
For instance I use G9 to fire guns, G8 for scram, G7 for web, G12 for repping, G11 for MWD, G6 for scanner, G4 to stop my ship, G13-G15 for drone stuff etc etc. You simply can't do that as well with the Razer sinc it's buttons are on both sides of the keyboard.

I'd recommend the G15. It's really good keyboard, and the key-programming windows tool-bar icon makes it easy to program.
There are also a number of people who write programs for the graphical display on the keyboard that work with EvE.
After having it for a day, I started programming it for any random repetitive task on the computer, including quick-edits in Excel, Visio, web forms et. al.

Good topic. I have a Z-Board and had been hoping to find a key-set for EvE, but none are available. This board seems like a good option.

Yeah. And the standard ZBoard game layout doesn't really provide added value. And since i never hear anyone comment on whether the ZBoard MERC is a good KB i decided to use a cheapo microsoft KB for the time being until i buy my new PC along with a G15. Pretty much every gamer seems to use that one.

I love my g15, haven't found it terrifically useful in Eve though because many of functions I'd want to program are controlled by mouse clicks. It is handy for controlling my guns and my drones however.

Hi all and thanks for the feedback.
Originally I was going to get the G11 the predecessor to the G15. This was a nice keyboard and with 18 programmable keys nice blue back light.
Now the g15, which I am sure, is just as wonderful a keyboard. 1.only has 6 programmable ôGö buttons 2.has orange light (I prefer blue) 3.I also herd rumours that the surface of the keys can degrade and therefore loose the markings on the keyboard (not sure if this was a G11 Issue or both g11 and g15) The reason I was leaning towards the razor. 1.and this is the main reason.. 10 programmable buttons 2.the profile switcher which has the ability to re-map any keyboard press... 3.To any button. donÆt know how good this would be in eve. But for other games (UT3 TF2and other games) this would be handy 4.the quick response of the key strokes (once again not necessarily great for eve but for FPS itÆs good)

Though there are only 6 G keys there are also 3 "M" keys. Those keys each allow a set of macro's programmed to each G key. So in actuallity, you get 18 Macro's you can set up 3 for each key.

Try to find a supplier with older stock.
The original G15 (the one I have) has 18 physical programmable keys, with 3 options for each key, making a total of 54 keys. It has blue backlighting and the LCD display.
They "updated" it recently and it now only has the 6 physical programmable keys and a horrible orange backlight.
My dog tried to chew the cord on mine and got sent to the sin-bin.....I'm not sure I'll be able to replace it if he manages to chew through it. The older stock is in short supply.

Any other keyboards besides the logitec g15 or the razer tarantula. That are cheaper and with programmable functions?
