It's still now 15:20 GMT, which is good, because most timezones in the world are measured in GMT+/- an offset, if GMT itself would change then everyone else would have to change their offset.

It was announced days out this time, so there's no reason to be that annoyed. Un-announced extended downtimes, those are pretty annoying.

It might work for you if it's late night there, but here it's boring early evening. But yes, extra time might add some stability (though I sincerely doubt that).

At least Eve got that right, otherwise there would be some people adjusting their eve-clocks 4 times a year, when the servers go to summer time, when they go to summer time, when the servers come off it, when they come off it. (which can make quite a significant change especially if you live in the sourthern hemisphere, the daily downtime would move 2 hours throughout the year ! That could get confusing especially as you'd be expected to know whatever arbitary dates the country the server was hosted in chooses to change their clock.

Blizzard constantly has to extend their patch maintenance periods beyond their estimate and their servers are plagued with problems after most of their patches. :)
