Stabber needs to slow down to do full damage, drone boats dont.

I dunno, 220's seem as though the can deal damage pretty handily at point range up to about 4 - 5 k/s. I don't know how many people are going to really pimp a stabber beyond that speed because such cash would be better spent on pimping a T2 ship. Of course if both ships are screaming along at 3 - 4 k/s then you're going to have some real targeting problems but at that point bigger drones become useless.

Well, you also have the problem of needing to be pretty much inside web range with the stabber since it doesnt have a falloff bonus like the vaga does. But yes, I think you would be getting some hits with the stabber, although most likely not full damage. I havent run the numbers, but I doubt the stabber can reach even 100 dps considering the falloff penalties. A drone boat could have 4 times that.
And if you have nanoed up the stabber, you may not have room for damage mods, which lowers your damage even more. Compare this to a drone ship that puts out the damage thanks to a ship bonus and can use all its slots to just be fast.
EDIT: Ok, got curious and ran some EFT numbers:
Stabber with no damage mods: 151 dps at optimal, probably half that (around 75) at max falloff range. Vexor with 5 medium drones: 240 dps, all slots free.

Certainly the Stabber is fighting an uphill battle. I consider it to be more of a tackler than a damage dealer but that doesn't mean it doesn't have teeth. I could point out that one could rig the Stabber to operate at the proper range but I'm not generally a fan of rigging a non faction t1 Cruiser and I generally think really hard about rigging T1 BC/s and BS's (generally I opt for resist rigs if nothing else because they are so freakin' cheap) |

Nano-navy-osprey? Ive been wanting to try this since patch notes but cant afford one with full fitting yet.
4 hml II * 10mn mwd II 24km scram 1 kin 1 therm 1 em resistance amp II * 3 nanofibre II * 3 Aux thruster rigs
Resistance amps rather then LSE II has to do with grid issues. Nano/aux setup can be switched for od/polycarb setup if youre rich. |

Omen can be nanoed but cap is serious problem. And trying to fit cap mods cuts its speed . AC Maller on the other hand is a much better choice for similer fit. Arbi is a lot better, since dps comes from drones. All of these with full nano fit will go around 2.5-3km/s max. (even with basic speed implants).
Stabber and Rupture is very good choice for nano, both can reach 3.5km/s mark preety easily, rupture has lot more pg for bigger guns, has much better gun and drone dps then stabber but stabber can be faster. Bellicose has pathetic dps, dont even touch it.
Caldari has no t1 nano cruiser unless u pick faction. Their ships have massive mass and not enough low slot to do anything about it.
For Gallente u have Vvexor which is just like Arbi -1 med slot. Thorax can do it but has some cap trouble, has good drone dmg though.
If i have to pick 4 ships out of 4 races, has to be Stabber, Rupture, Arbitrator, Vexor. Rest is just trying to hard. |

Projectile falloff rigs are about 2.5m. That's cheaper than your mwd.
They are too good not to have on the stabber. |
