Im guessing for such an epic milestone CCP must have something really special up their sleeves, something that all the players can get involved in no matter how long they have played but maybe something a little extra special for those that have supported the game for half a decade  .
I did think the strange bright star was going to be the start of the birthday events, buildiing up to some thing amazing but that seemed to fizzled out without ever getting anywhere. I would have thought the build up would have started by now as an event of such epic proportions can't happen over night, people need to get behind it and there needs to be that anticipation and excitement. I think the first birthday build up went on for a few weeks with lots of Jove diplomacy and that unfortunate accident. Then there was the collecting and the chance of new tech. 5th birthday has surely got to outshine 1st Birthday though.
Maybe the Jove could want their complex fullerine shards back, Ive also still got some of that lovely jove kebab somewhere, maybe something could happen with that.
When the bright star story was running I thought it would be interesting if it was the light from the collapse of the other end of the eve gate worm hole and what if a large ship was discovered in bound that had set off from earth towards our part of the universe at that time (travelling at just under the speed of light). It could have had some unusual tech and items to be given out as part of the birthday festivities.
Well I can't wait to see what happens, its got to be something great right? I mean, it can't just get passed by or be some lame event that you only find out about if you are in the right system at the right time on the night and most people don't hear of until a week or so later  . Eve will have been around for 5 years and is still getting stronger all the time, if that isn't a reason for CCP to put something good on then I don't know what is.

1 free skill upgrade from Level 4 to Level 5 would be nice.
Or they'll probably just nerf something to hell and back again...
I would like to see Jovians before I die too... I'm guessing they'll only implement Jove as a playable race when their subscribership begins a downward trend.

so in what direction was that strange unknown star anyway? somewhere in the direction of the eve gate, if not i somehow expect it was going to be used in a future expansion.. or mabye it was just a bug that wasnt supposed to be there  |

On the news, there were some "scientific guesses" from npc scientists to what it could have been for the great bright star. i liked the one explanation of a "Testing of a super-weapon of mass destruction" maybe the joves are coming to kill everyone.

perhaps Jove joins as a playable race opinion for all current players (IE a 'convert to Jova' skill)

I believe that in the original plans CCP had there would be a paid expansion in which you could play Jove. There was a bug on the release date which requested a jove code if you tried to create a character using specific options. The reason I was created on day 2 and not day one is down to this bug.
Less than a week to go. Im guessing now they must be going for the big unexpected surprise birthday event otherwise we would have had some clues by now

How about on each character's 5th birthday they get to re-assign their attributes and remedy the***** ups we all made half a decade ago. Jesus, five years, I've wasted a quarter of my life haha.
