Anyone else having these issues? Pretty annoying.

Tried patching from CD Release to 1424, got a verify error, (formatted have to patch from CD..).
Any suggestions? :/ ------

Edited by: Ruffles on 22/04/2004 10:37:22 You tried downloading a slightly older retail->X variant patch, and applying the smaller more recent ones?
I think I have an cd to 1411 somewhere. If need be, let me know and can try to get it to you. It might still exist on the download server though.
evepatch934-1411.exe
I think it was called. Try downloading that one then applying the smaller more recent patches.

I'm downloading 1413 now, this sucks.
Good thing I set a skill that takes two weeks to train, seems like that will be around the time I will be able to play again. :/
I'm running a new PC sorta, new cpu/board/ram, rest is the old stuff, formatted HD and fresh windows install though, this should work..
1413 setup passed CRC, let's see if 1413 -> 1424 works. :) ------

What files do you want to send me Omniwar? I'm like confused as to what I'm doing wrong here, I'm getting invalid file version, CRC errors, ect and it makes no sense.. 1413 installed fine, anything that has to do with 1424 is not working though. ------

make sure you have a "cache" folder in your EVE directory before patching.

Can you get to the text in the patcher display in the background?
That text will at least show to what point the process is getting prior to the CRC error. This is probably the most useful information if there is indeed an issue.
Alternatively, try to get the 1413-1424 patch from someone else that has downloaded it, and used it successfully. Try using a different transfer mechanism, like MSN/etc...
Its worth trying incase your download of that file got damaged in the download. Rare, but possible.
Try downloading the file with a different browser, or possibly a download manager also as another option.
Some patches also require nearly 200 mb of free space on the drive where the software is being patched, I know you probably have that much free after a clean install, but its something else to remember.
Can't think of much else, sorry.

i've tried everything except get the files from someone else, 1413 installs just fine for me, anything with 1424 just doesn't work at all for me though, error after error, i dont get it.
i've had no problems with anything except for eve related files.
okay getting file from someone else dont work either, says i dont have enough hard drive space to unpackage the patch, but i have over 100gb free..
uhm i guess 1424 just doesnt like my PC? i dont know, this is stupid. ------

Edited by: Don Carn'age on 22/04/2004 12:22:42 stop over clocking your PC and remove a stick of ram, sounds like a fault in HARDWARE to me !
If 99.9% of the EVE population can Patch Ok, then what does this tell you. ?? You have the fault, Not CCP or the servers or the s/ware, YOU !
Underclock your CPU while d/l remove some ram, try again, if that fails, switch sticks and try again, then when it works throw that stick of ram away.
Check your lan/wan settings, mke sure your incoming packets arent fragmented.

AMD Athlon64 3000+ MSI K8T Neo Motherboard (onboard AC97 Audio) GeForce4ti 4400 (latest WHQL drivers) 512MB Mushkin PC3200 DDRAM 120GB Maxtor Hard Drive
Windows XP Pro SP1 (all up to date)
I don't know if that helps.
Downloading the full 1424 client (downloaded twice) gives me a CRC error at the end of the extraction process.
Downloaded 1413 full client installs fine, but I can't patch it to 1424. I get various errors patching, checksum error, failed verify, not enough hard drive space (which I have plenty of), ect.
Help! :(

Jim --- someone suggested in some post a while back to patch EVE in safe-mode to fix these kind of problems ...

Im thinking hardware too.. but without the machine in front of me its hard to tell.
Its a long shot, but have a look in the BIOS for anything like disk monitoring or SMART? If on, turn it off.. its a very long shot though.
Jim I cant specifically help you now as Im at work, but if you'd like, I could zip up a clean install of EVE with the patch and pass it you somehow?

getting one now, honestly anything without 1424 on it works fine for me, something about this patch is totally screwed up for me.
only eve related files have i had any issues with.. everything else is running perfectly fine. ------

I think you are hitting on the problem here. New 64-bit processor and motherboard as the upgrade?
K8T, I think from memory that is a VIA chipset. You should see on your motherboard chipset a manufacturers logo, or perhaps it says in the motherboard manual what type of chipset it is based on.
If it is the VIA one, always worth getting the latest VIA drivers from their website:
VIA Hyperion Drivers
This could potentially be the issue if its data-io related, as the chipset controls all of that.
Don't install these drivers if you aren't sure that its a VIA Chipset, but I think it is. Check the motherboard manual, or call tech-support from the company you purchased the motherboard from to confirm if it is a VIA Chipset.
Its nothing too unusual, lots of chipsets have little issues after recent release, their software updates normally fix most issues.

Yes I just purchased the cpu/motherboard, it is a VIA chipset, and I installed the drivers from the CD already. I can try those drivers I guess, but honestly, I think it's EVE related. I have no problems with anything except for EVE, I just installed and patched up Morrowind just fine, about to do the same with War3. ------

It could well be a fault with the patcher software with respect to that 64-bit proc.
Definately worth mentioning in a support posting I recon.

I would put money on the chip being the problem. a friend had a problem with installing programs with the 64bit chip. he put my 3200XP+ chip in his machine and everything worked fine. if you can change the chip i would try that. you can always put it back once it's patched

Would probably help the support techs to give them a DirectX diagnostics export file Jim.
That might help them approach the patcher peeps with more detailed systems info, if they need to.

I had the same problem some time ago... The problem for me was, that one of my two Ram Modules had a failure. I switched the self test in the Bios menu and the counter didnt came to the full 1024kb.

I had the same kind of problem (was saying crc error, no space left on drive) when trying to apply the patch I downloaded (tried both mirrors). So I just logged into the game and let the autopatcher do his thing (selected random server) and it worked. This was on a p4e with ht on btw, not on a 64b.
