Subject says it all. I bought a new graphics card earlier this week, specifically for playing eve, as the old one was turning the game to a slideshow. Apart from lack of speed and a few character portrait glitches, it worked fine with the old one.
After an update to the latest Catalyst 4.4 drivers, my Radeon 9600XT worked fine too; all the graphics glitches had disappeared.
Now after manually patching the game to 1424, it puts up the splash screen, I get a black square in the centre of the screen - and then it causes some sort of hardware error and the system has to shut off all hardware acceleration, slowing EVERYTHING to a crawl, and also won't boot into EVE.
I have a character with a 25-day skill finishing tomorrow, and will probably not be able to change over skills unless this problem is fixed. Can someone please give me some idea how I can get EVE running again?
No, it's not a problem with my system - as I said, the last version worked just great and everything else on my system works.

Have you setting your graphic details smaller? From 32 bit to 16?

Try different (older) graphic drivers.

I changed the topic of this thread to something that describes the problem at hand instead of badmouthing the patch. I believe this will increase the chance of helpful replies. _________________________________________________________

Edited by: Darkward on 22/04/2004 18:17:59 Since a few days I'm using an Asus 9600XT (change from GF3-Ti500 due to constant crashes), since then I occasionally have CTD (once within days). I also use the most recent drivers with no problem at all.

I have the same problem with the black box over the login screen (i installed a fresh and updated install from EVE site - after the game didn`t load when finished patching... ) ... I`m using a radeon 9800pro and i tried Catalyst versions 4.4 down to 4.1 and no change... i vene re-installed directx 9.0b (i`m using windows xp btw). I wrote to support and got an answer to try cat 4.1...it didn`t help..i hope i`ll hear something from them soon

Guys, u can always write to ATI on their driverfeedback:
http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/ -- always look on the bright side of the cloning facility. |

Some scinereos fix.
If you are using "Windows Blinds" or similar GUI customizing software it can conflict with some of the more recent Nvidia ATI and XP's SP2. Turn off any GUI customizations and try again. It worked for me.
