What will happen with the loot taken from destroyed enemies?
What I always see when there is a battle going on in empire space is lots of people suddenly stop, then rush in to take the loot from cans of destroyed ships.
I know they are jet cans hence currently not property etc. but how will it interact with the upcoming "stolen goods" tagging? Will the victor of a fight who takes the loot from the losers jet can be tagged as taking stolen goods? Will the goods only be available to the losers corp? The winners corp? Anyone?
Just a thought.

Edited by: Mandros Aslay on 22/04/2004 12:22:34 I also have thought about this ...when is stolen not stolen.
If I loot goods that have been stolen from an unattended can , am I an accessory after the fact ...will I get done for recieving stolen goods ?
And what about illegal/contraband goods....I am thinking of the missions that drop err Drop and Crash and other drugs. Will I get ganked by Concord on the return from a mission cos I have drugs in my hold?
As aa long term mission runner I have in excess of 1000 units of Drop and large quantities of drugs ....will I be labelled a Crim. I have Criminal connections skill.....will that link to the re-sale of these drugs....they appear to have no use at the moment...until implants require boosters etc.....so what will be outcome I wonder...And if I am a Crim will my interceptor outspeed Concord ?

It's called battle field theft and occurs in real life.
If you're engaging in a battle to grab loot then you should have the backup to "protect" that loot. If not, tough. PvP doesn't just mean gun to gun. It means One player against another and theft is just a different form of PvP. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not whining about it. In fact I personally see it as another way of making a few ISK, same as ore thieves. It amuses me to see 10 ships scrabbling for the battlefield pickings. Just interested in how the criminal tagging will work.

Hmm, wouldn't make a lot of sense if the winner of a fight was able to take items without them being considered stolen - it'd be kind of like saying "it's ok to steal so long as you personally beat up whoever you're stealing from'. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
It might make sense in a war situation as 'spoils of war' since CONCORD recognises wars to start off with. Not sure how that would mesh with the background logic of things having molecular tags though.

Well, if the code checks for your corp and his corp and sees that you're at war then it could be considered "spoils of war" and not have a security hit.
If CCP wants to code it that way.

As far as I can make out, you won't be physically prevented from scavenging; just that CONCORD will regard it as looting, and you'll pick up a criminal flag. But, as always, the devil's in the detail, and we don't have that yet.
