I dont think its possible, because you have been offered a cd-key for the trial, and you would have a different cd-key if you buy the box.
Simply upgrade your trial account for 20$+30 days free, its the same price as a new box, and you have the trial days added so its more 33 or 40 or even 43 days free, depending on your trial offer 
Personnaly, I will expand my account at the end of my 14 days trial. Cant beat 43 days free

As far as I know you cannot use the "buy account" option if you already have a character, well you can, but you would start a new character then, giving up your old.
All you have to do is go to the modify existing account page under Account managment and enter your credit card info. thats it, if I remember correctly.

to be precise, here the way to upgrade your account:
Go in the Account Management (at left of the main site)
Select "Modify an existing account" below
Login
Select "Extend Trail Account" (no, I didnt make a spelling error, its what's appear  )
Now, pay the 19.95$ and you will have a true account, with first 30 days free (I dont understand that.. its not free since you paid 20$!)

Well, it's possible... sorta... You can go through the 'support' section of this webpage and post a question saying you want to upgrade your trial account to full account. They'll ask you to send a picture or scan of your receipt and cd-box with cd-key. And, eventually, they should upgrade your trial account.
That's what I did three week ago and I'm still waiting for them to actually do the transfer. My other friends who bought the game just started new chars.
I ended up paying to activate the account, in hopes that I'll get refunded my activation fees.

IT¦s not possible to upgrade a trial account by go to a shop and buy the boxed game
I asked the GM¦s from ccp about it.
in other hand you can activate your trial account to a real account by login under account managment on www.eve-online.com and transfer your trial account too a real subscribtion.
