Posting with alt for personal reasons, but I'm curious about the eve stereotypes.
It seems everyone calls everyone a anti-pirate, a carebear, or a pirate... but my question is what would I be classified as?
First off, I'm not a pirate per say, I don't want to become -10.0 security status or even a low sec status, but at random I'll kill a battleship here, or battlecruiser there for no real reason when in low sec other than I want to see a ship explode and feel the adrenaline pumping in my veins. I then trade them back their loot at the station... I didn't do it to get loot or booty, like a pirate would; I did it for the adrenaline rush.
But then pirates call me a carebear for not turning into a outlaw security status, and for running missions and mining with my 2nd alt on occasion when I lack the time for a mission. I also invent and do a little side manufacturing for myself.
So by doing that the carebear's call me a pirate, but the pirates like to call me a carebear, and I'm clearly not a anti-pirate since I dont really care what pirates do so long as it doesan't affect me. Might there just be a 4th stereotype in eve, and if so, what might that be considered? |

Sounds like a "carebear with teeth" to me. You should look into a corp that dabbles in war decs besides sustaining an industrial base, or that is allied with an alliance that has the oomph for both highsec piracy as well as carebearing. You'd do quite well in that and as a bonus get all sorts of flashy reds to shoot without sec loss.
Or join some anti piracy ops. Show those guys calling you a carebear the drawback of -10.0 security standing .

Carebear: player who prefers to not attack other players, or someone who is generally risk-averse. Typically industrialists fall into this category. "Carebears with teeth" are aware of the dangers that may come their way and prepared for it, and willing to fight to protect themselves if need be.
Pirate: player who attacks players for income. Whether it be ransom or just plain shoot & loot.
Ganker: player who kills just to kill, and isn't concerned with what they get out of it. Also knows as killboard w***es, etc. Usually referred to as Griefers but actually aren't.
Griefer: player who aims to upset other players by any means possible. Has no in-game motivation. |

We'll I'm not exactly a jack of all trades in the sense that I kill people and run missions with my main: 90% or more of his 33 million sp are into combat or combat beneficial skills, while my mining alt is on a separate account entirely. So the skillage isn't made into one jack of all trades character, but each is a master of what its intended to do, I just command them both.
So far we have under the 4th Stereotype class of eve:
Carebear With Teeth
And less appealing but still thoughtful:
PirIndyBear? CarIndAte? IndyAteBear? JOAT - Jack Of All Trades |

By these definitions, the OP is the elusive and unpredictable Gankbear, unless this already means something else. ______________________________________

Now THAT is progress! Lets keep the suggestions coming.
So we have so far the two top choices of the 4th eve stereotype as:
Carebear With Teeth Gankbear

I vote gankbear!
So, so far what we have is:
Pirate Carebear Anti-Pirate Ganker Griefer
and the two new suggestions: Gankbear Carebear with Teeth (CWT)
Personally, I actually see those two as two different classifications, whereas a CWT is ready to defend themselves, a gankbear is willing to go out and attack someone. Of course, they could just merge into one. If so, Gankbear ftw!

You play almost exactly the way I do Aramatius - however I historically was more along the lines of a combat oriented pilot. Anything that has to do with research, manufacturing, and mining I have only invested into recently - but for one reason only: money to fuel my addiction to blowing people up in really expensive ships.
I have never pirating as a true pirate would do however, I have never ransomed or anything. I have had a bit of combat experiences allover the place, in low-sec and 0.0 alike - but no ransoms. The closest thing I have probably done to piracy is gatecamp (rarely - I don't find much thrill in camping 3 hours a day just to pop people in haulers most of the time) - and roaming gangs through low sec (I've done this more numerously). But - I've never ransomed, I just blow anyone I see up if its possible.
As for research, mining, manufacturing. I barely got crap SP in it, and I still have a bit of training to go before I can genuinely call it 'profitable'. At this time I'm still investing into blueprints to get into BPC business, and I mine mostly during the weekends when I get bored from running 50 or so missions during the week. As for production, at this time I haven't bothered to make it as something to profit off of - I just produce ammunition because it saves you a huge amount of money when your running the crap out of missions.
I know I'm not a anti-pirate and anyone who could thinks that keep telling themselves that.
I know I'm not a pirate and anyone who thinks that can also keep telling themselves that.
I could see how I could be a carebear in some ways as much as I PvE - however I have never traditionally PvE'd this much - and my reasons to PvE are probably not shared with most other carebears (?). I could be wrong, I never really hung out with carebears as much so I don't exactly know how they think :P
I am more along the lines of a combat pilot though - however I wouldn't call myself a pirate. I think like one, I'm reserved, cautious, and observant like a good combat pilot needs to be - even in high-sec mission I maintain this thought-process because thats the way I have always played.
So - I've always considered myself as a neutral. There is no way in hell I would go around griefing people, but I would try pirating so long it isn't a boring/noob form of pirating with 24/7 gate-camping and high-sec wardec's - er... I mean, 168-hour Station Camp Marathon. But, I also would never want to mine and produce for a living - because I personally cannot think of of a way any better and making the game incredibly boring, and I don't like the idea of becoming one of the Golem miners. I would indy my way around for the sake of creating more passive income and making more money - but I wouldn't be able to tolerate going from a side-job to a part-time-job, and dare I say a full-time-job.
If you don't know what a Golem miner is, it's one of the miners who act like Golem when you just stepped into his chamber when he was stroking his ring, and then he thinks your going to take it and starts to hiss at you ____________________
