seeing in the last few patches and nerves that gallente was affected negatively directly or indirectly ...when do you think we will see some boost to gallente again?...never maybe?

well take a mega vs torp-raven for example, both are close range relative, but the raven can be setup to tank the mega and yet the raven with the (i call it a boost) to the torps damage can almost equal that of the mega, as I see it all the races have one feature that stands out ex, caldari = shield tanking, ammar = armor tanking, minie = speed, and gallente = short range DPS, but with resent nerves and boost to other races their DPS has crept up to pretty close to gallente(ie indirect nerf to gallente) but there main feauture has stayed the same.
Dont get me wrong i can fly 3 races and use different ships for diffrent tasks but this seems like a huge imbalance.

1.Tracking and range for sniper ships (or the guns themselves) could do with a boost as amaar now far out range gallente or anybody else for that matter.
2. Range or damage on blasters needs a big boost as by comparison to other races guns and missiles they are not even close to being in balance with the range they lose against other races close range weapons.
3. The ships designed to use damps need a massive range boost to bring them inline with ecm ships.

If you pilot a raven ... you will notice that you dont have any ws or mwd.... is just a defensive ship.
gallente is just fine... have great ships (maybe the recon need some love). Amarr receive the boost they need long time ago

How many gang BS actually fly and waste a slot on a point when actual tackle ships are assigned that job?, if you do your wasting a mid slot bud although a mwd should be regulation for a pvp ship tbh. |

ok in your senario who will run away?.....the mega will because the raven can tank him and dish out enough damage to kill him so even if the mega has ws,web and MWD on the raven it will have to run away....so basically both your points is null and void...

you run from a raven why ? try to kill her first , if you see she is heavly tanked just go away... you dont lose nothing in trying... now try to do the same with a raven..
better if you think raven is soo good just train for one . maybe you will like a ship that gives alot of the damage if the target dont move . |

Why do ppl alway reduce a argument down to a 1 v 1 situation that are a total rarity in eve.
Here ive got a theoretical fight as well for ya:-
mega (or virtually any other BS tbqh) + small fast tackler with no guns vs raven + small fast tackler with no guns = raven wins. |

Gallente nerfs -> Arazu. This is the weakest recon compared to the other races. Caldari recon will jam you to death, Ammar will kill your cap in seconds, and the Minmatar recon will web you and close for the kill. Arazu will loose every time against any other recon since the damp nerf. The only thing that this ship can do is tackle a BS and damp it from 30km.

I have one fully Gallente skilled pvp character and yes some of the nerfs hit home hard, but the only ships really hurt where the droneboats and the recons. My second account has one 20 mil sp caldari character so I think I can make the comparison in an objective way.
Eos (no more 5x heavy drones and less turretslots) Domi (Nos nerf) Myrmidon (no more 5x heavy drones and less slots) Gallente Recons.. (sensor damp worthless) <-- need some serious loving...
I cant understand why anybody in their right mind could compare a MWD'd mega with web and scram and massive dps to a fully shield tanked torp raven...
Its comparing apples and pears.
They fit completely different roles, the mega for instance is suited for a sniping role. The raven is NOT. NO CRUISEMISSILES ARE NOT SNIPING.
The only raven that is allowed to fly in my gangs is fitted with torps mwd, web, target painter, sensor boosters, web or painter drones and damage mods with a 2x roled tungsten plate tank with logistics support.
Mega is a great ship, with blasters or set for range with rails its 0.0 fleet battles best friend. (ps, in a fleet fight the raven would be dead before the missiles hit hom for instance)
conclusion:
-mega doesnt necesarrily require a tackler and can still fit a half decent tank and great dps. Furthermore very well suited as a sniper and can absorb large quantities of dps with plating on it in this role. -raven can field an awsome tank, but has all the downsides missiles/torps have to them, if the target aint webbed or alot smaller than yourself your dps is that of a wet towel. Less suited for solo pvp. End of the day its a superb ratting/mission ship which is also very important.

Tell that to burn eden who owned you so bad last year you had to call in CVA and all you buddies to try to deal with them, blobbing up two 200 in a system at times for 10 or so ships and you still lost huge amounts to compared to them.

Like i said tell that to BE, and in a fleet fight the raven snipers squads are just as useful as any other ship as long as they are with a separate target caller to the gunnery ships and they are awesome at killing mid sized support at any range with cruise missiles.
conclusion:
You have no idea how to fit your sniper ships or lead fleet operations, you only know how to blob.

The megathron is one of the absolutely most popular PvP ships.
The brutix makes a super gank battlecruiser
the thorax makes a superg bank cruiser
The ishtar is a superb nano ship.
The dominix is as superb L4 mission ship.
Taranis is a superb interceptor, punching out dps second to none.
I'm not really seeing the need for a 'gallente boost'.
The RSD using recons need boosting, but that's about it.

I was thinking that. Gallente has an good selection and rails/blasters with a mix drones (although Gallente has to rely on smaller types since the drone bandwidth) isn't really that awful. Personally I believe that Gallente has the best slot layout of all races which counts for quite a bit.
E-Peen or lack of it. Something about pew pew, I think.

Lyria I suggest you to fly them for sometime and than maybe you will change your opinion. Webbing + slow armortank hurts alot any BC- ship.

Edited by: CptEav1s on 24/04/2008 14:48:57 Hey,
Yea my character is heavily based on Gallente, mind you I am training 2 other races atm. But, as far as I see it some of the recent patches were great overall others were terrible.
Face it NOS isnt meant to be the best weapon of the game, and although torps got more damage they have severly reduced range (plus Caldari usually lose bonus if they use anything but Kinetic).
The only true problem I see with Gallente now is the Eos, she was nerfed to death when drone bandwidth came out and still hasn't been fixed. Its kinda sad because Command Ships are in theory suppose to be a BC version of a HAC (with gang bonuses) the Eos would've been nice version of Ishtar but A) has 75m^3 bandwidth, B) no dronebay even with Command Ships V (225m^3), C) no drone damage or hitpoint boost = crappy ship.
Personally I think even if CCP went half way by giving the Eos 325m^3 - 350m^3 dronebay and 125m^3 drone bandwidth (no damage or other buffs) that alot of the usefulness of the ship would be renewed.
And of course Recons could use a little lovin'

That's because people haven't twigged to the total superiority of the Raven at close range yet. (Actually, also Typhoon and Armageddon can do about the same DPS as Mega, but from much further out.)
Originally by: Ulstan The brutix makes a super gank battlecruiser
Lots of damage at 2.5 km, very unmaneuverable even for BC, dies if someone sneezes at it at that fit => bad BC.

Yes, those ships work well or at least ok.

Small and medium ships work ok with blasters/drones. For BC and up, the short range required for effective firing plus the lack of mobility is a crippling flaw against an opponent that maneuvers - especially since the damage output at BS level isn't even the best. -- Gradient forum |

Odd, I've always felt that the short range on blasters hurts the medium/small guns the most where you can't hit anything at the edge of web range. For Neutron Blaster Cannons with null, you hit better than a tempest shooting barrage all the way to the edge of SCRAM range.
For the type of combat I see in lowsec, kills happen in web range; being able to shoot farther is nice, but is not neccessary, since you still wouldn't be able to track a nano-ship anyway.
On the note of mobility though, I think the penalty for armor rigs should be changed to something else (maybe Sig radius like shield rigs?). This would help armor tank blaster ships as well as the tempest.

The problem with the game is that Gallente was supposed to be big dps and weak tank. Amarr was weak dps and big tank.
When they "balanced" the ships... by increasing the dps for amarr... it made gallente balance on dps with amarr and then amarr with the big tank still.
Then consider the difference between hybrid vs laser.
In pvp amarr doesnt take up much space at all for ammo. Allowing to carry much more cap booster 800s.You also dont have to reload. So in the long run amarr is better then gallente in many ways.
Balancing destroyed the real balance.
Sure gallente was overpowered when 1 navy mega can literally kill 10 ships and then dock.

Umm, the Geddon and Abaddon when it was released have always had excellent DPS. What they improved was the tracking. Amarr are supposed to be the big hitpoint big DPS medium range stationary-turret-ship race. Gallente BS still have the highest DPS when fit for gank.
As for needing cargo room for ammunition and having to reload, just be thankful you don't shoot projectiles.
