I keep seeing double LAR II setups on Domis. I have a character with great hybrid skills and ok Drone skills. (T2 large hybrids but Heavy Drones are at lvl 4. All other drone supports skills are at lvl 4)
So I would like to use the hybrids skills and the bonus by sticking Large electrons on the highs with one MFS II in the lows. The rest is two 1600mm RT plates and a DC II, 2 EANM II's and an Explosive hardener II. 3 Trimarks for rigs. Mids are tackling gear and a MWD and a SB II with lock time script.
Should do good DPS right? Will the tank hold abuot as well as a Megathron with similer lows? |

Passive gank domi is pretty beastly but requires decent skills to pull off correctly. Also you need to worry about repping yourself. If you're in Empire then carry a rep in your hold and dock up when the pew pew is finished. 0.0 you're going to need muckers with Remote reps or rep drones. |

I hate fighting Domis. I'm no pro at their fittings, but yeah, from my side of the table a domi with 2 1600 plates and 3 trimarks would likely **** me off to no end.

I ran a passive tanked Domi in the 3rd alliance tourney and ended up going against an Ishtar and Nighthawk. I was running a full set of LG Slaves (no Omega) and had 35K armor with my lowest resist of 67%. I won that fight. |

There's really no such thing as a passive armor tank. To "tank" implies that you can take sustained damage indefinately. Simply having enough armor HP so that any sane battle against any sane force will be over before your armor goes away is a valid strategy in PvP, though. I just wouldn't call it a "tank".

I think you are mixing and matching. The double LARII setups are primarily for PvE, which given that you want to fit tackling gear and a MWD is not what you are aiming for.
T2 Drones are of course much better, but if your Gallente BS skill is 4-5 you can compensate somewhat. In terms of effectiveness of a buffer tank domi for PvP...well I don't PvP usually, so you will need other input for that.

No need to get testy; I did say that I don't really PvP yes? I have simply noted from forum trolling and battleclinic loadouts that the active tank seems to be somewhat the minority for PvP; buffer is preferred in many cases.
Just an observation.
Dual LARII setups are on the other hand, very staple for mission Domis.

Dual LAR II tanks are very effective on the Domi for PvP. I like them on the Typhoon as well. ------------
