I have a fairly simple proposal which I think could benefit everyone And I hope CCP read this.
The idea: Add Electronic Upgrades (just a level 1) to the skill requirements of all Scan Probe Launchers.
Why: So I, or for that matter anyone else, can use the 'Liquid Cooled Electronics' rig to help fit a probe launcher on more than one of my interweb spaceships without utterly forsaking any other kind of fittings.
I think this a fairly elegant solution all said but you may not agree.
I'd be interested in finding out what other think about this and how it may effect things.
But all I'm thinking about right now is a scan probing harbinger, it's all gravy from here! -A Simple Proposal- |

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 22/04/2008 09:41:33 I so wish you could reduce the fittings on scan probe launchers by up to 25% with skills, it would enable quite a few interesting things.
You still couldn't fit it on most ships without making a lot of fitting sacrifices, but now you can't fit it on 99% of ships without sacrificing practically everything.

....I always assumed that that was the POINT of giving it a high CPU requirement.

It would also make it so that 'Electronics Upgrades' skill is actually of value to train for it's own sake, too.

Personally, I like that scan probe launchers are in the purview of a fairly limited selection of ships. However, I wish there were a cpu "Lite" limited version of the Recon launcher , rather than bringing fitting skills and rigs into it. Longer scan time would be the easy way to limit them, though I'd prefer the time be the same, and instead allow it to only launch a new basic probe type with limited range and strength.
The point being a launcher that almost anybody could fit, mainly for probing sloppy safes and logouts, and for newbies trying things out. The more elaborate stuff gets left to the specialists.

An offline probe launcher can be a good workaround if you're soloing. If not...well, that question answers itself.
