What I usually do is right-click on the item and click sell item. It shows what the closest buying price is. If a single unit of that item is 100,000 isk or over I sell it. This is not the best method but its pretty quick and after a while you learn what the Meta 4's are and what the prices should be for them. Anything under 100,000 isk ends up being reprocessed. Don't reprocess faction items that can only be sold through contracts. |

Forthe people that dont salvage, a thing that i have found very useful both for karma and for isk , is to hire a noob in a dessy to follow you and salvage everythig for you, buting them a noctis bpc (1 mil) and having them build it (or doing it for them) will earn you good will, a bit of loot isk, free rigs, and someone who will come to your rescue (if you need it) in a dps ship or a t1 logi.
I have done this with several people helping them make their way up to level 4's of their own, i can burn through missions pretty quick, fast enough to keep a dessy satisfied but not fast enough for a noctis, but a small group of missioners will do more then enough for a noctis pilot, is also a nice way to grow your corp and get to know someone.
as to the other half of this, the loot i generally drop it into a can (or cans depending on the mission aea) and collect it in an orca when i get to 65k m/3 fly it to the nearest hub and sort by meta, (i do inventions) and sell most everything above 500k repro the rest. then orca the materials to my industry hub and make new ships to go out and get blowd up in, and i make rigs. I have such a supply of rig materials Ive made them available to my corp for when they want to go pvp or fit up a new mission ship. one of the biggest issues i see in alliances and corps is fit and rigged ships for exploding. readily available minerals , rigs and m3 gear make this much easier. the more bodies you have the cheaper you gear can be. |

I used to speed loot (I just grab the stuff inside the wrecks and leave the wrecks themselves) as the time wasted to pull and salvage the wrecks for rigs bits is not worth the time (8 tractors on a Noctis clean up fast this way). I then throw all the loot in to a station container and let it ferment for a few weeks.
I then haul it all to a trade hub and run down selling it. I pick a minimum 'market value (anything below say -15% below market I reprocess unless it is worth a lot of isk)). Otherwise I sell it. Not perfect, I freely admit that, but I make a good profit while I watch a movie without getting lost in a spreadsheet for hours.
I may not be making the 'best profit' but I was still making a profit. However I am almost to scrapmetal reprocessing, so I will be paying a little more attention to the next batch of salvage. I don't always finish my commentary, but when I do |

I used throw it all the main hanger then once a week do the following:
1) Click on it and hit sell. 2) If sells for more than 15k and I'm getting 80% of value sell. 3) If the average is high, but I'd be selling it for under 80% I 4) If neither 2 and 3 are true reprocess it.
Also I keep on eye out for anything that has a really low sell price and refines for reasonable amounts of minerals. In which case I put in a buy order for that item at about 50% of what the minerals are worth. You can make millions with little risk this way.
PS- Now I just bring an Orca and throw everything into the Orca, and haul it back to a trade hub when full. |

You quickly learn what will be worthwhile just by getting used to the names. On my salvage boat I have a can inside it with which i place high value goods based on name alone. ifim not sure then I will check something. That way when I get to the station I dont have to sort everything out in a massive items list as I have already done it at the looting stage |

When you are missioning, one should mission. Spending time looking at crap is not productive.
Basically, follow these rules:
1) Don't waste time on crap
2) It's all crap my 7 mil for a named target painter disagrees with your hypothesis Takes a while but certain stuff is worth looking out for, but the majority is just melted down, meta 4 is often used for invention so always a healthy market
Sure, you will find the occasional one...but how much time spent looking? If you can average 60 mill per hour missioning, every minute you spend looking at crap means you didn't make a mill...plus the reprocessed painter still gives you something.
I used to look at everything but discovered it is just not worth the effort. Melt it all down.

Ann133566 wrote:I assume you mean high sec LVL 4 missions. I used to loot everything, especially when the Noctis first came out. Now, I find that I burn through missions, (especially since I gotten good drone skills) so fast that it's more effeicient to just hand in the mission and begin the next one. I do however fit a salvager to my ship and search named wrecks and a few large wrecks to see if there is something worth grabbing, this is only because I build rigs on the side. However, if you are missioning in a Drake or have low dps, it's worth your while to salvage wrecks at least until you get a good fit or better SP.
Same here. I salvage faction missions to get the tags (yes, I actually take faction missions :) ). I salvage certain missions that have few/one room and many BS wrecks of better rats (like Assault). I salvage if I need a break from mission running/diversion. I will also salvage if there is a mission object that drops many kms away...might as well go back and get noctis. I sometimes salvage certain drone poop missions.
Probably 1 in 5 missions and, I expect, if I was to evaluate it I would find I'd be better off getting another mission. |

Nuela is clearly challenged mentally.
It's this simple. I know what sells for far more than refines and vis versa. I know just looking at it. If you melt everything you are lossing far more FAR FAR FAR more isk than you think you are saving by not selling.
Any statment otherwise is suspect to mental issues that we are not authorized to help you with.
I would also recommend selling only once a week. Cuts done on the clicking trauma. :)

I only hit a trade hub when I need tags to cash in LP (every 12 to 14 missions).
Once there:
a) sell salvage b) sell Meta 4's c) create contracts for the LP items manufactured d) restock on ammo if needed
I horde minerals from the meta 3 and down loot for manufacturing that I do at my mission station.
I make, on average, 80 million on the meta 4 and salvage sales with no more effort that sorting by meta level.
Blindly grinding everything really is a waste. |

There are also Salvaging Services available < insert shameless plug here > like what Pro Synergy offers. They are quickly expanding to cover the L4 mission hubs, and offer a great opportunity to mission runners by buying out their wrecks as they lay in deadspace (abandoned "blue" and bookmarked ). We have a team of professional elite salvagers who will salvage the loot, process it for top value, and pay out on a 45-45-10 split between the mission runners, the salvagers, and the admin who sort and process.
The result is the Mission runners can focus on running missions, and work "synergetic" with dedicated salvagers for a win-win opportunity that literally pays hundreds of millions per week.
Join the "Pro Synergy" channel in game to check us out and ask our customers about us... PRO SYNERGY - We salvage and process the loot, and pay YOU for it. I've stopped looting now it's quicker and more ISK per hour to move rght onto the next mission, but one way you can do it is not sell ANYTHING and just dump it all in a container and stack it all up then one day, clear the lot out.
That way, you'll end up with like 70+ armour repairer 1's or whatever, and that would have saved you 70 seperate checks, and you'll find rather than 3000 seperate items, you're left with 300 stacks or something, at least until you've learnt whats what.
