A friend and I are really interested in flying interceptors. We play Caldari and Amarr, and we love the Crow and the Malediction respectively.
Since malediction is considered by some the best tackling inty, and crow the most offensive one, the damage of the two combined could easily break tanks, and two ceptors together are unbeatable by a single cruiser (the primary can always move away and rep while the other one tanks)
Would this duo then be the "perfect anti-cruiser-and-below" pirate frigate duo, apart from teams consisting on Elec attack frigates?
If so, can you give me any tip on how should we make our setups in order to get the best performance? Anything else than the standard setups?
Last: If you had to add a third ship to the group, what would it be?
Thanks. |

Id say the perfect duo would be 2 taranii with gank fits. Cruisers will melt under the firepower before they can react and frigs/inties are easy pray with overheat. Overheat mwd, overheat web, lock down, pwn face, collect win. |

Mm, not really. They both suck at dealing damage. Not that they're not cool ships, but it's the DPS. Meet a passive tanker and you' ll be there to the downtime. I'd say stay in your ceptors for the otherwise awesome tackling abilities, and let someone else do the damage. If you want something speedy and cheap, get a stabber to follow you around. Otherwise, a rupture/thorax, or even a blackbird. The latter, however lacks DPS again.
That or another ceptor like crusader or ranis, they should do ok in damage in speed but lack in about everything else. |

Crow is the least offensive inty. Take a closer look at it's DPS output. |

Just a quick point to make and I know I'll get flamed at for saying this but don't try it against an experienced sentinel pilot (well if there is 2 of you both in taranis you should be fine). After a pulse of all those modules and then a cycle or 2 of neut your cap will be gone by the time you get in range and then you have 4 warrior II's to worry about.

I think that prize would have to go to stiletto. considering it can fire with no worry about transversal and from a very good distance crow dps isn't actuallt THAT bad. Mine is getting 65ish atm I think (not sure exactly, will figure it out when I can get back on).
To the OP if you were gona take a third ship I would say the sentinel (I know, that thing again). It will help shut down any tank that you find a bit too hard to deal with just dps and is also a pretty good fast dps frig itself (that doesn't have to go into web range to do its dps).

You've got balls quoting Lyria Skydancer and mentioning sentinels in the same post :P
I like the sentinel myself too, so I might work into it :) Thanks.

Don't worry. I've already had a fat argument with lyria about this and I think I won (either way until she duels me she doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to how effective sentinels are IMO).
Only problem with sentinels is ligh drones (unless you pimp it) but with 2 crows flying with you they should be able to pop any light drones the ship may have before they can pop you. |

But indeed how did that crow get killed by a drake and raven :/

I'd consider that a OMG worthy kill if it actually had any tank at all, I mean it doesn't even have a suitcase on it. I'm more interested as to wtf the passive drake that she killed was doing (unless it was already being attacked by rats which for some reason didn't show up on the killmail)

With the above setup I do about 7.8k normal and 10.8k overloaded. I turn on a dime and even dual webs you can glide through if you know what you're doing.

At about 60mil less than the faction setup, this is a very good choice in any gang. Seriously, can't go wrong with the crow. With my skills I hit 6.9k normal and about 10.1k in overload. Again, turns nicely.

Closing Thoughts You can easily make Crows go faster by using only overdrives, but the Crow becomes very vulnerable when turning so it's extremely nice to have some good agility. It'll save your ass. Of course, the 3x overdrives would be nice if you need to chase down and web a vaga for some sacrificial reason *shrug*

Edited by: Greenbolt on 22/04/2008 18:11:09 Ran into a pair of ceptors hunting ratters and haulers in 0.0.
Nasty creatures...hard to pin down and if your in a ratter or hauler..very deadly. They were gisti-b fit with other t2 and some faction gear.
Got one by luck..pilot mistook my rapier for the reaper her partner had chased through a gate never was able to corner the other. And they did get several kills on friendlies who didnt get the word fast enough.
So they do make a good combination as long as you pick your targets and dont get a bit too arrogant around rapiers.

That guy was either being pounded by rats which didn't turn up on the kill mail or he had no tank on at all and had alreaddy taken heavy damage (8k damage is not enough to kill a hurricane, with no skills he has 12k hp).
Like I said some of them are pretty impressive but some of them are just silly, they must have had other partys which didn't show up on the killmail or she found them just sitting around already with alot of damage (in which case they deserve to die).
I also don't get why spend quite that much, my crow fit is only a tiny bit slower (still easily fast enough to survive well) but can do more damage and costs less than 100th of the price. I suppose just to show off a bit but meh.

My only problem with that crow are the officer BCU (Estamel, no less) and tech2 rigs, thing would have cost a fraction as much using faction with t1 rigs. Possible got painted or bumped on a roid/gate to let those cruises do any damage.
Back to OPs topic, a pair of inties is a pain to catch, but I wouldn't expect too many kills. Also remember about gate guns in low-sec. |
