Better skills.
With t2 autos you should make them think before attacking you. Plus your tank should laugh at them........
And if he is out of auto range he is hitting you with 5 light drones and heavy missiles that are un-bonused.
So yeah, skill up some. Miz Stelth Bomerz iz the ****nit.

Edited by: Dromidas Shadowmoon on 23/04/2008 08:56:57 Biggest problem I see is you're flying a cyclone. It's a horrible piece of crap. And unless the pilot with skill points that are a multiple of yours, in a ship whose value is a multiple of yours, makes a huge mistake, or loses their connection at a bad time, you're not going to kill them. You would be equally screwed if someone in a command ship or recon showed up, as well. Or even a tier 2 BC.
Use your scanner, if you see a ship that vastly out classes your ship, which in your case is a cyclone and is outclassed by, well, everything that is considered a combat ship*, you should probably go to safespot or dock.
Just fit an ecm if you're too lazy to pay attention, theres a chance it could work and you can warp out.
*Note: This also includes other cyclones. If someone is actually hunting other players in a cyclone, they probably know something you don't**. Best to just flee.
**Note: There is a very remote possibility that its a player who is angry at the game and can't seem to succeed and are just trying to attack anyone out of frustration. In this case they are likely to die even to an equally crappy ship. However the chances are low that this is the case, I would recommend flee. |

Are you asking how to not die in a Cyclone or how to kill one in a Cyclone?
How not to die in a Cyclone v Vaga (been in such situations myself): -When Vagabond tackles you, align towards something -If Barrage M wasn't loaded in your guns, load Barrage M -Turn on guns and missile launchers -Deploy drones to kill his drones if he's using them -Turn on MWD (particularly if flying a shield-extended setup) -Wait till he gives up.
How to catch a Vagabond in a Cyclone: -You can't, because normal Cyclone setups don't have a MWD/web/scram, as a 2-slot tank doesn't cut it.
If you do not have T2 guns, do not expect to survive. Flying Minmatar without T2 guns is anything between extremely risky to suicide, unfortunately.
The 50% range advantage offered by T2 guns totally changes the performance of Minmatar ships.

Overdrives in lows for speed.
2 webbers, 1 being faction ( True Sansha or Dark Blood ideally ).
WAtch his orbit, overheat MWD to cut off his orbit. Overheat faction web, snag him at 18km, get him within 14km and turn off heat, keep approaching, apply 2nd normal webber.
and enjoy. Trick is not to panic, and time your approach. It's prob best to start from stationery. He'll be orbiting around 20-23 km if he's got any sense, and will have turned off MWD to be able to hit you. Therefore look where he will be in about 5-10 seconds, and hit MWD, hit the heat and motor to that spot.

You won't kill any nanoship in a cyclone without help. Your best bet is to get into a phoon and use a heavy neut. You probably wont kill him but he wont be able to point you with no cap.
Using medium autocannons wont do anything since he will be orbiting you to take advantage of his falloff bonuses. Your best weapon against him in a cyclone is your missiles.
[I is a vagabond pilot]
Also, why arent you ratting with ecm drones? Even with decent drones skills your drones probably arent doing much damage anyways... when a vagabond drops on you hit him with the ecm drones, align, spam warp. Its not 100% garanteed but ive been jammed in an ECCMed tempest by 5x light ecm drones on several occasions, so its totally possible.
But yea why aren't you watching local? To this day I've yet to be killed while ratting and being in a pvp corp with no blues ninja ratting is the only way I can do it.
1. Watch local. 2. Always be aligned. 3. See 1 and 2.
If you are ratting you shouldn't ever die to a roaming gang unless one of the rats is pointing you and the roaming gang grabs you before you have a chance to kill the scrambler. At the absolute fastest a single roaming hac has to:
1. Enter the system. This is like 2-5 seconds that he will appear in local but not be able to give commands to his ship or know that you are there. 2. Open is scanner and scan available belts for you. An extremely extremely experienced scanner will still need 2-5 seconds for under 4 scanable belts, slightly more if there are more belts (assuming you are in one he can scan). 4. My vagabond aligns and enters warp in roughly 4 seconds. 5. The minimum warp time, ever, to a belt is about 5 seconds. The maximum time to warp to the edge of scan range in a vagabond is probably +5-15 seconds.
So at best (highly unlikely) case thats 2 + 2 + 4 + 5 = 13 seconds. If you have any wits about you you would have aligned as soon as the new local entered local, and opened your scanner and started scanning. He has to decloak to warp and if you pinged the scanner frequently enough you would even catch a recon in the second before it recloaks during a warp. If you want to play it safe you would have warped. There is no way you should die.
