I started EvE last month with a friend. We're both PvP minded and looking for fights. We've done some poking around in low-sec but have only had one encounter and it was with a battlecruiser that blew away our frigates with haste. Ah well, that's how it goes and we've been learning a lot.
Still, there has to be a better way to get some action. We just love PvP and want fights. It doesn't matter if it's piracy or not. Perhaps throwing out a war dec or two would be better? Any advice will be appreciated.

srsly finding targets is... improssible? I find myself in the same situation, flying around in my rifter, looking for targets for hours and hoping I don't get popped in the process. -- lol wut |

Who says you really need to make money pvping? Ransoms are dumb because you don't get a killmail (assuming you honor it).
Perhaps this is just me, but pvp isn't about making isk. It's about ganking people and getting killmails. Now occasionally you might find some nice mods from a kill, but don't count on it.
For me, I run missions to get isk. I use the isk to buy pvp ships.
If you're just starting, fly cheap... make all your silly mistakes in cheap ships. But later on you'll have the experience and SP to both justify and kindle the desire to fly expensive ships. The further you go, the less content you are to fly t1 cruisers and frigs.
When I first started pvping I lost tons of thoraxes. Now I'm a better pilot and I don't lose nearly as much.
Missions is one way to make money, and that's where I get my cash. It takes a bit of mindless grinding measure of patience at first but having access to level 4 missions is worth it. A level 4 mission will get you anywhere from 5-25 mil.

I agree. If you're looking to make money from PvP/Pirating, best bet would be to join a proper (ie. not a mission running corp that says they do PvP as well) corp and do it in groups. Bigger targets = bigger jackpots.
Solo PvP is pretty much about distruction, honing your skills and the kill-mails baby.

Edited by: Andrea Skye on 26/04/2008 18:51:19 Ransom pods :P
As soon as ship explodes then get ready to lock the pod and set your scramble ready so it activates as soon as it locks. Most of the time they will get away, but its possible to catch them sometimes :P
Depending on how old the charactor is you can sometimes get 20mil +
If the charactor is new then only charge a small amount say 1-5 mil. Charge on how much money you think they have.
BUT ALWAYS honour the ransom. If you dont you become known for not honouring and get a bad rep, and it also gives every other pirate a bad rep. Also be polite, people are much more likely to pay up if your not a jerk about it.
Imo, its better to ransom pods and not ships, because if you ransom the ship and let them go, you never know what they might have had in thier cargohold. And Pods dont shoot back :P
Ive made about 200 mil from just ransoming pods :P
Happy hunting!
