how does a freshly starting out pirate make any cash! 've been playing for 4 days now (<- not this toon though) and every attempt I did to make money failed!
I sold my bio space for some advert which made me 10 mill, enough to buy skills to fly a rifter and some equip, tried can flipping, not much money too make, it's fun though, tried low sec ransoming, got killed many many times (lovely (battle)cruisers), is the best way to stay doing missions and wait till I have enough skills to operate and fly cruisers or I am I missing some valuable information here?
please help me out on this one :-) I think I can lose another 4 rifters and then I'm broke!!! :-)

When you can-flip, actually try stealing the ore and selling it on as opposed to just disccarding it - a decent income can be made from that as a noob. Other than that you could always try the lofty trick, but i guess you are a bit young for it anyway.
Be inventive though, there are lots of ways to make ISK in eve; and not all of them neccesarily limited to in-game play. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

yeah, I sold the ore, wasnt that much (veldspar, + the hauling of it took a long time) I was thinking about selling GTC, but wtf, paying more cash to an online game then the fee goes against my principles...
The "Rent my bio space for your ad campaign" worked well though :-)

If you want to pirate I would say avoid mission running as you may end up where it sounds like your main is. Big expensive ship, head full of implants, faction mods etc etc to scared to leave highsec.
Fly cheap and pick your targets carefully, it helps massivly to be in a small gang try and get some guys from the npc corp to go out with you or join a small pirating corp.
As for sources of income ransoms and ship loot will be your big payouts, get good at doing that. If you really want to go an npc route do lowsec complexes and rat with a pvp fit, people will come to you for a fight. Of course there's other methods such as trading but thats not really pirating is it.

You can make a decent income to cover any number of t1 frig losses by just doing a little trading (re-selling), particularly if you can move around LowSec. Hell, take one of your Rifters down to some lowsec chain and re-sell it for a bit more than you paid. Fill the hold full of faction ammo of any kind and re-sell that too, when you get wherever.
Or run a few missions, as fast as you can. Don't bother to loot wrecks unless your reallllly broke, it's all crap loot for 99% of the time.
Someone send this guy a couple Rifters in the interim. I woul if I was at home.

Run combat missions up to L3s and use up to a BC. I'd suggest running them in low sec so you get to learn a few things while your making isk. Always salvage your missions because every little bit counts. Also don't be scared of low sec belt yarring. If you only threaten pods and not kill them you can keep sec up/get isk.

Try robbing a corporation. It's not the most popular option around these parts, and you'll get called mean names by a bunch of carebear losers whose words really mean nothing... but a single decent corporate robbery can set you up for a lifetime of piracy.
Imagine never having to worry about being able to afford a ship you want, and you get the idea.

Is it? That's odd since I made a few bil in total with high sec piracy so far. 2 nights ago i made 75 mil in 20 minutes and any proper miner will drop between 2-12 mil on average.
Not saying it's a whole lot of cash compared to 23/7 mission w***ing but that would be boring to do anyway.

Rubbing what in?
Corp theft is the most efficient way for a new player to get tons of money. Period.

You have a point, but you do fail to mention that any good corp will probably find out about this and you'll never get access to it. Could always sell your char and buy a better skilled one tho.

If you start in with selling gtc's, you'll never leanr to be self sufficient in this game and end up spending a ton of real money. A terrible way to play a game, in my opinion.
Before the T2 market went all to hell you could make a killing working low sec belts and missions, of course ransoming rigged ships and pods will pay the bills.

Nah, you give corporate security way too much credit. Most still don't know their ass from a BPO lock vote. Besides, chances are his first mark will be some small to midsized we-recruit-anything-that-moves type of corporation, one that's probably never been hit before, and has their guard down.
He doesn't have to sell his account, either. The only place he'll be known as a thief, is in an oft-neglected thread on these forums, which are read by a miniscule fraction of the player base.

First, you want to pick your fights. No need to be brave and take on other PVPers, just go for the easy targets. Second, consider ninja salvage. I know it's not really piracy, but it feels mischievous and brings in a lot of ISK for a new player.

Word. You can probe out people in level 4's using a T1 astrometrics frigate (heron, imicus, etc)and some half decent probng skills, warp in and start to salvage the large wrecks. It takes practice but once you get the hang of it, you can make a little cash. And the mission runners can't do anything about it, unless they want an instagib from CONCORD (just don't steal from the cans/wrecks).

there are plenty of frigs left in space. Might want to scan them out (good practise for scanning out mission runnings ).
Another thing you can do is salvaging. Go to a cosmos complex, plenty of wrecks there. Sell the stuff and you make a quike isk to fit a new rifter. Try Deltole for example (bit busy though!).
There are many other normal complexes that you can check out for wrecks.
Good luck!

Hmm yea one of the main reasons I haven't started running around in a frigate to try out piracy is that I don't know where to start (around 1 week old character). Where do people mine usually? Whats the best way to find a target? Wandering around targetless seems not too appealing to me, yet I know thats part of it as well.

I'm also in a similar position.
I started EvE last month with a friend. We're both PvP minded and looking for fights. We've done some poking around in low-sec but have only had one encounter and it was with a battlecruiser that blew away our frigates with haste. Ah well, that's how it goes and we've been learning a lot.
Still, there has to be a better way to get some action. We just love PvP and want fights. It doesn't matter if it's piracy or not. Perhaps throwing out a war dec or two would be better? Any advice will be appreciated.

As someone mentioned, join a PvP/Pirate corp that accepts low skillpoint players. Actually, that's what our corp does. We also hand out free T1 frigs (limit 3 per day) to make it easier on the newer players.
We've recently recruited a bunch of new players and they're catching on quickly. Well, some of them are. I still see a few dieing in Mara.
Anyway, you won't be alone in your newness if you sign up. Just throwing it out as an option. Our HQ is in Sobseki. Our public channel is Darkness Inc. ---- I am Super Cool
