Noticed lately seems to be alot of people moaning about the downtime EvE is suffering, and tbh i dont see whats to complain about.
I played this in Beta, didn't carry one cause i went to SWG, i've come back to look at EvE and it has me hooked, i'll be around for a while now, i personally think CCP has done a Excellent job.
So they're having a few Server Issues, welcome to the world of MMO gaming. Granted 12hrs downtime and the 3-4hrs this saturday afternoon isn't great, but i just find it sad that people moan about it. I know people have a right to, and no-one really can stop that, i just thought people have abit more common sense.
I've played SWG for the last 10months and in the 8days i've been playing i've seen more support and info on whats going on than i have from SOE and SWG game. Hell i saw a GM message warning people about some bad systems, i never once saw a GM message in SWG warning you if a planet had bad shuttles.
I think CCP is doing a wonderful job and i hope they break the 15k barrier in the next few months :) just don't sell yourself to one of those big Corps like Sony or EA, it'll be the death of you. (eg E&B)
Keep up the good work CCP

I appreciate with upgrades things go wrong and the unexpected happens, with this in mind why plan a major hardware upgrade for a friday night, any problems and its gonna spill into saturday/sunday the busiest time for eve, why not do these things on a monday/tuesday? I pity the poor hardware engineers who are undoubtedly onsite and pulling there hair out, ohh to be a lfy o the wall, no pressure fellas lol

Last thing we need now is an A$$ kissing fanboy..... people pay money for a service and they have a right to complain...... although the efforts of the FNP do keep the visible complaints down to a minimum... from what I've seen it isnt just the downtime that annoys people... it's the total lack of Customer Service that ****es people off.....

Edited by: Kaymo Phoenix on 24/04/2004 16:48:35 My sentiments exactly. We dont get this game for free. We pay for it and at the moment they are taking our money without providing a service. I understand how problamatic hardware upgrades can be and I can accept an amount of downtime but the real problem for me is CCP's apparent lack of concern for their customers. They just dont keep us informed as to whats happening. Seems we are dealing with a bunch of computer people where no one has any concept of customer relations. Come on CCP, u can do better. You have a forum here...why not use it to keep us informed :-)

Why is he a fanboy? He's entitled to his opinion, and I for one agree with him. People complain about the lag then when something is done to rectify people start complaing cos it doesnt go smoothly. Honestly, were u expecting things to go smoothly? I know I wasn't. It's all about patience - things will be right soon........ Ensign Mi Canio - MIL Div. - Combat Air Patrol

Because we are ^$%#&@! paying for this and again today, I can't get in. Capped at 3000 now on a Saturday afternoon. I pay to freaking complain so I will. I just worked 12 hours, my skill mining 3 will be done training and I want to start another training so I can go to bed to work 12 hours again tonight. The time sleeping and the next shift is 24 hours of wasted training time... that I'm paying for.

Edited by: Joven Ravyn on 24/04/2004 16:52:26 no offence you don't even know me, i'm not a A$$ kicking fan boy as you like to put it, i just respect the problems that come with running an MMO game.
I never said you didn't have the right to complain, thats why i never said "shut the hell up and don't complain" i just said i don't see the point in complaining, but then some people like to let off steam by doing this, and i see there point, unfortunatly theres people like yourself who like to personally flame someone for making a comment, nice way to attract new people to the game ;)
good job i don't really care what you say,
And yes we pay for this game but even if we didn't you'd still get people moaning.
Gotta love trying to hold a conversation without being flamed even slightly
EDIT: look if you want to moan go ahead, want to call people names fine, i'm not going stop you, just don't expect many people to listen, the game has problems, welcome to the world :) its full of problems

I for one am glad that they are actually doing something about the lag, this downtime is only off the back of the first wave of upgrades.
Expect more when they start the second wave.
People need to understand how much goes into something this big and how long it can take to rectify problems that occurs.
Anyone who was expecting to wake up saturday morning and expect full systems go must have been sleeping on cloud nine.

I agree, we don't need a$$ kissing fanboys around. This is a service we pay for, and like any other service, if you don't get you're money's worth... you get a little ticked. All I would ask for is atleast a posting on what the problem is, why, and when it will be fixed... isn't that what we all want?

Oh yeah, and i'm also paying for this service and i'm glad that they are spending the money on these much needed upgrades so our community can continue to grow like it has been for last couple of months.

They needed to be done as soon as possible that's why, in case you havn't noticed the systems havn't been doing so well on the "BUSY PERIODS".

Maybe so but in fact Fridays are the slowest days on Eve believe it or not :-)

I do not mind CCP doing upgrades to improve performance.
However, Major upgrades should not be performed on the weekends. It goes without saying that there will be problems and should therefore be done away from peak periods.
Secondly after the hardware upgrade yesterday I saw absolutely no performance improvements. The upgrade may have helped some of the more populated areas (not there so don't know) but I still saw just as much lag as usual after the servers came back up last night.
Follow that with a 2 hour "normal" downtime today then a complete crash less than an hour after the servers finally came up. The "Short Reboot" that took over an hour to complete. All this and still not 1 word from CCP on any of these issues.
I don't blame anyone that wants to complain about service like this. I have been around from Beta and if these types of problems improved over time I would understand but CCP has a proven track record of doing this exact same thing.

It's still a valid argument not to do it on a Friday...
Yes, you will, in the short term (three days) have problems with laggy systems and getting stuck - the same as we've had ever since the numbers started shooting up with magazine coverdisk users and ex-E&Bers. The difference is that then they can do the upgrade on a Monday and they have a week of less hectic periods while the world works to fix it.

As long as we hear all the juicy stories about what the techs and the devs went through, you won't hear me complain
I can imagine that the setbacks of the last couple of days would make new players especially nervous- might be a tactically/commercially prudent idea to make a gesture towards them... (and no, I am not implying a middle finger )
