As Sergio's CEO, we've spoken about this and what it means to the reputation of Veto Corp and whether or not we can be trusted.
I trust Sergio's word enough to give my full approval and endorsement for RLS, it holds the Veto Corp guarantee that no one will be ripped off or short changed.
Awesome work getting it up and running guys.

We haven't decided yet, but we'll have a ruling by the time any of the bets end.
What we do know is that if everyone backs the winner, a complete refund is done, and RLS take no cut. |

Have you checked what the percentage is on "real" lotteries/sweepstakes? 10% is nothing compared to those.
And speaking of real world lotteries / gambles, I haven't gambled a penny in my life, but I've been betting ISK for the most random things for over three years now. 'Tis about time this went from beyond IRC / Corp channel and into something bigger.

This is the beauty of the system, and the reason for its design. It's not about betting hundreds of millions to swing things, it's just about a casual flutter on something that interests you, no hassle, no fuss, no complications. Wanna bet 1M / 5M / 10M / 25M. all the bets are worth entering, andevery time someone bets, it just means there's more to be won, so popularity will do nothing but increase payouts and profits. _

Edited by: sesanti on 26/04/2008 16:58:37 Nice idea, I have already registered and bet a very small sum!
And since it's backed by VETO's rep. I would dare say it's not a scam. |

In 24hrs we've taken about 40 bets, totalling over 140M ISK.
I'd like to thank all the people who have said good things in the posts above :).
It's been a while in development, and there's still a few things we'll have to tweak as we learn of them, but it looks to be going well. _

Indeed. Thought up a few whilst reading the thread. So be careful about what you bet on. ^^

On the off chance anyone is interested, in the UK this type of betting is known as The Tote. Basically it was originally set up to stop bookmakers from "fiddling" the odds and therefore giving punters a bad deal. The odds are set by your fellow punters basically.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tote
So it does have precedent in RL and seems like a good plan to me.

Edited by: uoY delliK on 27/04/2008 17:19:48 Just something I didnt notice you mention... What if there is no winner?
"Council of Stellar Management [EVE]
Many will be elected to the council, but who will be chosen as Chairman?"
With such an incredibly vague question... With nearly endless possibilities, what happens if there isnt a winner? Does house keep the cut, and refund everyone's money -10%? Or does house win?
Just something that I think should be addressed.
****edit: i just noticed someone else ask the question... regardless of legitimacy, its a scam.. house keeping bets, if theres no winner is ridiculous... The chairman question has 63 possible answers. Its almost pretentious to assume 63 people are going to make a bet. |

You'd expect us to refund everyone's bets if no-one chooses a winner? Quite the opposite, of course we keep it. Look at it the other way around - you bet 5m ISK, and didn't win. So you get nothing. Whether someone else wins, or the house wins, you still lost. |

Its more to the issue, that with 63 answers... You stand to gain a relatively substantial amount of isk, just cause you're doing such vague questions... How about: What number of I thinking of between 1-10,000?
Your rules, are geared more towards a largely popular betting site... My advice, would be amend the rules, once you're filling up every answer with atleast one bet... Then perhaps it wouldnt seem like such a sham. That or dont do questions with 63 answers... I highly doubt you're going to get 63 bets on that question cause its one of those shots in the dark. Perhaps a question with fewer answers... Either way, I think its BS that you're keeping isk for no right answer...
That is all.

How is that a vauge question? There will be one chairman position, decided by the methods CCP have laid out, and if you put your money on the right person you win. What on earth is vauge about that? If I said 'Many will be elected, but which one will be the most popular person with the voters (Not the number of votes)', that'd be vauge. Pools here have to have a definitive answer.
As for the rest of your post, see Sergio's comments on the house taking all in the case of nobody winning. Very unlikely that'll ever happen...

I really like this idea and may even try a few bets myself but is it likely that you may lower the 10% cut to a lower % if the system becomes more popular?
