Real Life Sweepstakes (RLS) is a unique ISK-betting system, which allows anyone within New Eden to gamble a bit of their ingame money.
Developed in partnership by Ix Forres (of ISKsense fame) and Sergio Ling (of no fame at all), the operation is guaranteed by the two people in question, whose reputation rests on products and their corporations.
So how does it work?
Using the EVE Online API system, the entire process is automated. Choose the bet, decide who's going to win, and send the money ingame. And that's it. No registration is required, but creating an account and linking a character via the API allows you to track any bets you're participating in, and any that have completed, as well as how much ISK you've won.
What can I bet on?
Anything you want. Pools are available to view on the site itself, and if a certain bet isn't up, you can suggest it to us by sending an ingame EVEmail to Sergio Ling.
There are no odds on your website. How do you work out how much you've won?
RLS doesn't use conventional odds-based betting, which allows you to bet against the house. Instead, you are betting against other players. An example is below:
Quote:
Will the sun rise tomorrow?
Yes No There will be no tomorrow
10 people bet in this pool, with 8 bets being spread over the answers No and There will be no tomorrow, to a total of 27'000'000.
Player A has bet 1'000'000 on Yes. Player B has bet 2'000'000 on Yes.
The total pot comes in at 30'000'000.
RLS take 10% of the total pot (to cover for expenses, maintenance on Exotic Dancers, and a Blue Pill habit we're trying to kick), which leaves us at 27'000'000 as a Prize fund, which is now divided between any winners.
Player B bets twice as much as player A, so they are awarded 18'000'000 and 9'000'000 respectively.
(Luckily we have machines to do the complicated maths, because there's no way I can work out what 125'663'985.72 is divided between 5 winners who have bet different amounts.)
The bet I want isn't on the site
There are thousands of possible bets, each with anything from 2 to 200 possible winners. If there's something we don't have, and you feel we should, let us know. We're constantly adding pools the the RLS site.
Awesome, I won some money! Where is it please?
Payouts are the only thing that aren't automated, as I don't think CCP want to add the ability to move money via the API. Once a day I log onto the character RLS Cashier, and manage the payouts. If you ever feel you should have been paid and haven't been, please send an EVEMail to Sergio Ling, or join the ingame channel.
This is not a detailed explanation on how to bet. For a thorough walkthrough, check the website itself. It has pictures
Have fun, good luck, and go bet. |

Great so what u have done is taken the modern day Diversities which almost every company with money trades on weather they know it or not and area applying it to in game.
That means the value of whatever is being bet on is determined completly by hype and anything bet on is not helped but can be hindered by other people wanting to win so doing whatever they can in game to skew or affect the results any way they can.
Its called futures trading..one person bets it goes up and one person bets it goes down.. IN true futures trading it happens a bit differently but a similar concept.
Also who is holding the money for the bets... This seems like a really good way to start a scam even if the people involved have a great integrity with the people that know them the rest of us dont.
Here is a great example of this.. Ok I say trit is going to sell at no lower then 3.36 pu in jita tomorrow and no higher then 3.85. I bet 100,000 isk it wont happen.. Another person comes in and says no thats to loose.. I bet it wont go below 3.36 and higher then 3.50. This is a tighter bet because the possiblilty of error is much higher because the spread is much lower between the two. Because of its higher risk Im going to be 2 million isk it wont do it.. THis then flocks higher risk minded people that then bet higher amounts in that area perhaps totallying 100 million isk..
Now I log on and go tell a buddy of mine hey. GO sell your trit for 3.51 one a unit and Ill come buy it.. Does not matter if its one or 50 units as long as jita shows that on recorded average u win the 100 million.
To much can be manipulated on a short term process in fact the NYSE does this all day long by manipulating buy and sell prices in order to gain whatever company the most gain for the day.
Also once again if I place the bet who am I giving my money to that I know aint gonna take it and run.
I dont think this is a great idea to be honest to much manipulation can take place based on hype that has nothing to do with any kind of real economic base.. We have enough hype in eve with market crap I dont think we need more

I think I understand.
First of all, ISK is held on the character RLS Cashier, which is an alt of mine.
As for swinging bets, we're not here for people to bet on the price of tritanium or how much veld will get sold in June. We're looking at sporting events, elections, and other big, international televised events. You can't call your friend and have him swing those :) _

As the writer of the actual website, I endorse this fully and will happily sign my name on it with my main .
I can assure you that all involved are operating transparently and that the website is solid. The technology behind it is the same stuff behind ISKsense, another website I wrote, which runs services for EVE Files, EVE Central, and 90 other EVE websites, now in it's 6th month of operation.
Get in there and win yourselves some money. Feature suggestions can be directed at Sergio or myself, of course.

I wonder idly if this is legal. I seem to remember people getting slapped down before for people using ISK to buy out-of-game services on a EULA basis. This might fit under the same bracket.
I hope not though, it seems like an awesome idea. ------

Ok so this is for all out of EVE activitie then..Real life foot ball and soccer games cricket. Real life elections markets etc etc. So basically because one is broke cash wise one can bet isk wise on RL avenues and win more isk.
IF a person picks an event to bet on the website then he then gives that isk to your alt.. The event is then watched and the payout calculated in the finish of said event. You take 10% of total bets made for keeping track of event and plugging in event details and keeping track of all bets.
At end of event whoever gets a payout by whatever amount they win is then manually paid by you to them for winning the event etc.
Ok well tbh if I were you I would have a bet cap. Last thing you need is stupid people betting 100's of millions of isk and losing it then come screaming back to ccp they get scammed and you have egg on your face. I would highly encourage that and people can bet more as they prove they can be somewhat responsible with what they are doing.
Reason I say this is even RL casinos are always watching for people that lose control and actually remove them from the premises and even help them get in contact with gamble groups to help out.
With the site comes your responsiblity to overwatch what people do which some would say no but Id say yes because you want to keep a good reputation with the community
Well I cant say I will do it but as long as its a very controlled very TRANSPARENT setup that allows people to see all LOSES and WINS made that day and total payouts so people can contact other people and make sure its all legit. Being transparent can be a pain in the butt but it does nothing but good for your reputation |

ISKsense, a service I have run which uses ISK to pay webmasters for adverts on their websites (For EVE related sites/adverts only), has been around for a while now and CCP are aware of it. There's nothing in the ToS or EULA to prohibit such activity, as the money stays within EVE and is merely being traded between players directly through a web service.

I think that would count as a large bet. Better fire an EVEmail off to confirm it. And don't forget to convert your first born to ISK, too...

That I do not know about. As it's a virtual service and you're not actually transferring anything you own, as ISK is 'owned' by CCP, you should be covered. Get a lawyer if you're concerned, but I'd be highly doubtful of you breaking any laws. |

nice job guys, it's the same system I used to use for the alliance tourney betting - but more automated
Might want to check with CCP tho - I know a few people who started similar things and were told to 'cease & desist' due to gambling on RL events being a violation of the eula (or something like that) |
