I know there are lots of poor ones and from what Iv seen alot fewer good ones.
But what exatly are the good ones called? (I havent run into all that many)

The big pirates are called Alliances, like CA, PA, FU, FA, and they blob up key systems ganking anyone that tries to enter "their" space. They hog all the resources and kill people indiscriminantly. Although if you are not part of said alliance and you have the audacity to challenge them, you get called a pirate.
Go figure :)

I think piracy has evolved into either organized crime syndicates (alliances) or anti-alliance terrorism (m0o, EVOL, Sharks, CELES, RKK)

Wouldn't it be cool if player portraits would develop a beard, eye patch and mechanical parrot as their security status drops lower and lower?

Good pirates? Like capn Jack Sparrow good? Good like Sister Moynahan who works at the shelter? I didn't think pirates were supposed to be good.
Poor pirates too?!? I dunno, some pirates are poor - especially if you get shot up regularly. But there are quite a few that have some decent cashflow.

Show pirates some lurve!! they are only bad because they are treated badly!! If people were nice to em they would be nice back.
Alliances are the worst forms of pirates in my opinion and thats all there is to it!
