Hi Quick question about the difficulty of lvl4 missions:
Is it possible to duo them in battlecruisers with low skills? (me and my mate is about a month old, amarr soldier path so quite biased towards killing stuff)
We both fly harbingers, knows a bit about tanking and fitting right resists and are honestly half-yawning through "The blockade" missions as it is now on Lvl3.

You would be able to do *some* of the missions, but you definitely won't be able to do them all. are you familiar with the mission list at eve-survival? If not, browse some of their level 4 descriptions just so you get an idea of what you're up against.

Yea seen that one, thanks :) Thats what I kinda gathered, it looks like some missions are tricky. Getting 55mil + equipment costs doesnt seem to bad in lvl3s, however getting 160mill+equipment for the next-gen BS was a thought that wasnt to appealing to me :) (question is getting an Armageddon or collecting cash for a Abadon, or if its faster to get an Armageddon and then get cash for a Abadon in lvl4 missions)

Something else you can do is take a look at the helpmymission channel.
I created it to help people out on missions they are struggling with.
If you do find a hard one, you could always ask for some help in there, or see if you can tag along on a lvl 4 of someone elses mission to get an idea of what they are like.
If you see my bio in game, for a bit more info

Edited by: vostok on 29/04/2008 03:53:57 I'm going to take a risk and say you can almost certainly complete all level 4 missions in BC with med skills.
2 BC will make it easier but it depends what BC they are. Ror example 2 remote rep myrms will cope easily with just about anything but 2 blaster fitted brutix pilots will die horribly as soon as they meet anything that deals damage. As for 2 harbs, the potential is there to do well as snipers
What this will really come down to however will be your personal pilot ability. knowing what your doing in missions is one of the most important things going so always read survival guide first lol.
Having said all that, you will almost certainly make more isk if each of you just run level 3 missions on your own since level 4 missions will likely take you a lot longer.
As for the arma/abaddon get the arma, its an awesome ship for the price. Fit with dual rep and dual heavy pulse as thats easy on cap and fittings and with changing crystals will still give you enough range to take out just about anything you will meet in a mission

I had no problem running missions with two BCs (some can even be done with one BC). Before we could fly battleships well, my old corpmates and I used BCs (Drakes, Harbingers, Hurricanes and Myrmidons). Of course it is not as fast as using a pair of battleships, but it is certainly possible. ------------

Thanks for the input.
To clarify, we duo-run lvl3s now for speed and efficiency along the lines of isk / time. If we solo we downgrade to lower level missions or random stuff. Since usually Duoing is more than twice as fast as soloing.
So our main idea is if we can double our mission income when we have the time to Duo. It seems obvious that Abaddon is the better ship of the BS's but if we can double our money / hour in dual armageddons we will get an Abaddon faster than grinding lvl3s. When we both have our Abbadon it will probably just widen our fail-margin and be able to solo them etc.
Anyways, we both have BS1 and Large energy turret 1 in a few days, and the funds to get an Armageddon. (rising both BS skill and large energy turret a few steps more is a quick job) So we dont have much to loose than to just try it out.
Technically, seeing that Armageddon has dps-bonuses compared to Abaddon, is that enough to overbridge the extra fitting possibilites the Abbadon yields due to more power/cpu? to result in a better dps ship as well as the extra resists due to abaddons bonuses.

Edited by: Entil Za on 29/04/2008 14:02:36 I wouldn't use a geddon for lvl4 missions, very much geared towards gank not tank. Obviously the baddon is the better choice but why have you not considered the Apoc - especially since the last patch
Edit: Sorry, didn't read you post properly - maybe a geddon would be useful if you are doing missions in pairs (especially with an Abaddon, domi or Raven as the other ship), in a warp-in/gank/warp-out kind of way.

Right, status report:)
First mission: "The Right Hand Of Zazzmatazz", mercernaries Lowish reward, something along the lines of 800k Total failure, managed to down one 18k frigate before armor was down. Missile rain of doom. No real possibility to kite since missiles was hitting anyways. (single repper, active explosion, kinetic and thermal resists + dmg control II.) We got scared of lvl4s and just dropped that mission :)
But we decided to try out my mates mission since it was blood raiders. Second mission: Smuggler Interception A joke, they barely hurt us, even up close with 3cruiser and 3 BS's left I turned on my repper at 10k distance to them (charged headlong in to see if they actually could hurt us) Plenty of bounty, 5xbattleships with 3-400k each and a bunch of cruisers and frigattes in the first pocket.
So conclusion I guess is that we stick to lvl3s until we can get 4s to go with some speed and not to dependant on type of mission. We are only one month old, although soldier path so heavy in combat skills, we only got something along the lines of 2mil sp.

TBQH "The Right Hand Of Zazzmatazz" is not the nicest LVL 4 to get first up - check out eve survival guide for how to blitz it.
You will be better off when your skills increase though of course.
