What do you think you will need at lvl 5 in order to fly those beasts?
Cruiser lvl 5 Spaceship command 5 (?)

Since Elite friggies are two rank 2 skills to level 5 it is probably reasonable to think that Elite cruisers will require 2 rank 5 skills to level 5. One will almost certainly be Cruiser skill. The other will presumably be related to the role of the cruiser type in question.

-Cruiser5 seems a good option, not sure about it though... And if its needed then the elite cruisers will really need to be elite since cruiser5 is pretty much the most pointless skill around (wheee 5% rof for minnie cruisers, you can get the same by taking a rank2 skill from 4 to 5)....
-Each elite cruiser type needs one type of elite frigate skill to 3 (eg. interceptors3 for one kind of elite cruiser and covert ops3 for another).
-They use spaceship command4 (spaceship command5 will be used by elite bs's)
-They will not require frigate5 msot likely
And dont expect them to get into the game within the next half year orso... -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

My only hope is that there will NOT be covert ops cruisers (or even worse, covert ops battleships). Covert ops is for small, agile ships, ie, frigates.
I'm sure CCP will come up with different variety in other ships classes. I hope they won't repeat the frigate elite classes and only make them bigger :)

I don't see why frigates level 5 should be a prereq. I think the point is specialization that is you are a specialized frigate/cruiser/battleship pilot not that a specialized battleship pilot can also fly t2 cruisers and frigs.
CCP released the names of the new t2 cruisers and nowhere in there was there said anything about covert ops cruisers and I doubt that they will come in. __________ Capacitor research |

Everything about elite cruisers is placeholder atm, IMHO ( and I want a elite cruiser bad ) your only safe bet is cruiser lvl 5 ( and even that is a maybe, but likely ) everything else is pure speculation. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I really hope a prereq is not cruiser 5. At the rate CCP is going, to fly a dreadnought you'll need somethign stupid like battle lvl 5. Why not keep it at lvl 4 and let regular people fly the ships? Interceptors already take forever to train for (I think I spent three full weeks just trin caldari frigate 5 and evasive maneuvering 5) -----------------------------------------------

Specialization is the name of the game, bud. Why should everyone be able to fly Dreadnoughts? You wanna fly one, you should have to specialize in it enough that it's not an everyday thing.
Anyway, you can fly any tech 1 battleship you want fairly easily.

Like Darkwolf said as well, why call it elite if anyone can fly it easily, Cruiser lvl 5 takes a month ( I've got 10% done, and starting tonight the other 90% will be done now I've got all my other skills at lvls I like ) Elite cruisers should be a rare and interesting sight, Not the cruisers everyone flies instead of the normal ones. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I personally hope that things like battlecruisers ect are like veteran rewards, the whole point of having things that require an insane amount of skill time investment is because you are being rewarded for the time you have played the game.
Eg in ultima online you get a vet reward every year, I know in uo it has nothing to do with skills just time served but still.... I beleive veteran players deserve to be rewarded and in that way people have things to aim at if they play over the long run. I will be a sad day if it ends up that newbies can fly the same ships as vets within a month.
Eg: I made a rate alt so I could just learn interceptors with him but because that narowed mt skill learning so much on him I quickly realised that my interceptor was pretty much useless, however if I learned it with my main (which I never intend to do) it would have been alot more thesable, I think that higher rank skills such as battlecruisers ect should be dependant on having a serious amount of skill points so aiming for them right away with a new char will be so pointless that its just not worth it.
Reward the loyal CCP Wayz: cmon X hurry up I aint got all day! Twisted Xistance: oh yeah lol.... anyway, you have got all day you benefit scrounging jobbless schmoe! Wayz: too chey :) |

As far as I can tell looking at the more reliable sources of information on elite cruisers and using a git of logic aplied to patterns in skill training, I think elite cruisers will require Cruiser level 5 to fly and <related elite frigate skill> level 3 to gain the proper skill. There might possibly be another added skill requirement, though.
An Interdictor, for example, would then require Covert Ops level 3 and Sensor Upgrades level 5 to train. To fly the ship, though, you'd need Cruiser level 5 (note that I do not think frigate level 5 will be necessary, given that that requirement is placed only at the Interceptor SHIPS and not Interceptor SKILL) --

just a bit of a meaningly less post here but,
do u know what an interdictor is used for on a battle feild, uk tornados are long range inerdictors
which means they can fly for long periods of time and "interdict" enemy forces miles behind enemy lines without being detected ..
or a longe range ground force thats is doing an "interdiction mission" on an enemy sipplie deep behind the lines
if some one gets the dictionary and writes the meaning down i think we will have a good idea on what these cruisers are going to be primarly used for and their fore can relate possible skills too them
I am the bad guy the kriptonite the green cronic.

umm the correct term is interceptors the tornado is an interceptor like the F16 falcon while the f14 tomcat and f15 eagle are air supiourity<sp?> fighters two totaly diffrent worlds
in eve id say interdictors are just like they are on star wars ships desgined to keep other ships in the system without running

Tornado was designed with different roles, the main variant is an Interdictor/Strike model as flown by a few European nations including Britain, designed as a smaller alternative to the F-111.
There is another model which you are thinking of which is the Air Defence Variant used in the interceptor role by Britain but it is in practically all ways different to the initial concept.
To Interdict is to block or deny. In terms of cruisers, they are commerce raiders - These would block trade and commerce and deny access to trade routes.
Typically they have blocked trade routes by halting and 'sinking' merchants and other strategic assets to deny their use to the enemy.
I can see how the Starwars interdictor would kind of fit that role and is probably all that the EVE engine would allow you to effect in that vein but it just seems a little narrow to me and a bit off - I'd see that concept changing an interdictor from a classic definition of a swift and decisive 'destroyer' of assets to practically a static blockade ship in a support capacity - and we have ships that can do that well already.
I can't say that the idea is wrong per se because it blatantly isn't but it certainly feels a crooked to me.

F-16s can do a lot more than intercept fighters and bombers. Of course, standard BFM dogfight F-16 v. F-15, F-16 wins no matter what. Thats why its generally called an interceptor. Of course an F-16 would have to be dodging AMRAAMs from 30NM to get into that situation... but thats besides the point.

ok people heads up on the issue www.eve-db.com could solve most of your questions about the next skills requirements. battlecruisers and dreadnaughts ( which dreads' are not even thought of yet skill wise) needs escort skill. which is supposed to come out with Shiva. To get escort you need Engineering lvl 5, and spaceship command 1, then get lvl 3 in escorts and spaceship command to start on the Destroyer type of elite cruiser. Each type has different requirements. Dreadnaughts have not been decided as of yet to eve-db

heh i think interdictor cruisers will use modules that create same field as mobile warp disruptors.... but its very bad idea in big battles, as this cruiser will be target no1 to whole enemy force, but from other hand it could be very efficently used to disrupt enemy supply/reinforcments lines, this cruiser plus two-three battlecruisers and tech 2 frigates could be able to down easy even battleship and i think this is what ccp want to do...

You do not need, at the moment, to be able to fly an Interceptor to be able to train for the Interdictor skill. You only need the Interceptor skill (and that does not require Frigate level 5, like the Interceptor skills do).
Note that you will not need to be able to fly Covert Ops frigates, nor have the Covert Ops skill, in order to fly Battlecruisers (which,I believe, are tied to the Escort skill)
As an intresting note on Escort frigates: they look great on the DB, but has anyone noticed their weight? --

What exactly do you mean by "Regular People" In my interpritation of your statement you are saying "CCP Let us get his specialized ship Class with no extra work or Training"
Thats why it IS a Specialized ship class you have to Wrok for it and Earn the right to fly it.

Do you want the hardcore stuff.....You need to spend the hardcore hours training..... Taking any skill to 5 is a major commitment on your part....Taking mulitple skills to 5 to get that one "special" skill....Just maybe worth it...
