From my experiance, Carebear is used for someone that stays in Empire Space.

I would say that this post pretty much hits the nail on the head!! A Carebear is someone who spends more time b****ing about the game then adapting and playing it.

Carebears must be someone who's not taking any chances. Like always staying in 0.5 or higher.

A carebear is somebody who doesn't like conflict. It has nothing to do with how much they whine, or dislike game mechanics.
Carebear are often used in games like Ultima Online, for those who stay in the world of Trammel, which are non-PVP zones. However, the term "trammy" has come to mean somebody who wants the game to be the way they want it. Much like your definition. I just think you have the two confused.
Carebear has, and always will mean, somebody who is afraid of conflict.. and would rather mine, and trade than strap on a few rockets, and head out to deep space. I mean think about it, what was the cartoon carebears about anyways? Everyone getting along, and sharing popsicles.

This is something i would not support. i am 15 myself, but as far as i know am not a carebear. i dont exit empire space a lot, but i do, and when i lose a ship in pvp, i dont whine or complain, i smile, because i had plat insurence, wich is usually worth more than the ship. it would not be good if all people under a certain age were banned from the main server because a few igits whine a lot.

I see that some call those who don't go to lower sec systems or those who complain alot, if the latter then ALOT of pirates are carebears (I know I know... I am getting on someones kill list now), what I see alot on this forum is pirates that complain about that the sec. status rise too slow or too little noobs travel into their turf, hmmm why would I travel to 0.0 btw ? I have no intention on loosing my ship within 10 sec. as I arrive.
No I don't see a problem of caring not to loose the ship, or not to loose those 50 mill. in implants....

A carebear is always the first person to shout 'Carebear' at someone if they don't agree with their opinion on something

I agree with that, also when they do venture out of 0.5 to the less safe levels..carebears expect pure safety no risk and whine alot if they dont recieve it....i dont think its the whining that makes em carebears its their outlook on risk Vs Reward.
I have no problem with carebears, I just kill em when I see em

hehe, if a carebear is someone who doesn't go into 0.4- systems then I am a perfect model lol. and unless I have a group of people to mine with I usually don't go in 0.6-. All I do is mine (don't ask me why I love it so much, Im still trying to figure that one out lol). If im mining solo then it's kinda dumb for me to mine in low sectors, cause Id get creamed really fast if someone attacked me.
Im not scared of PvP, its just that Ive never done it before. and when I do it I want it to be in something less expensive than a thorax. But Im kinda looking forward to fighting .
anyways Ill stop talking hehe. I was just wondering if Im what people generally reffer to as a carebear? Cause if so, then Ill have to change that.

I have been gone for a lil while but now that I'm back I see that not that much has changed as far as the whole outlook on carebears, cause no matter what kinda bear you are its still a term that makes the image of a lil bear running away from that bad guys, and sitting on a big cloud. So gather your own conclusions. But I am a Thug Bear, I guess thats ok. Better than a *** Bear.

For the most part, I entirely agree. However I believe the term carebear does not simply apply to miner/manufacturer types who spend their lives in 0.5+ supposedly without risk.
The term should aptly be extended to the pirates who prey on these people as well, simply because by camping or hunting 0.5+ space, they are distanced from the threat of the immediate lock 'n' fire most "sane" people would offer them in 0.4- space.
Seems to be the pirates who hunt these people who are first to call the term carebear into use. /me shrugs
That's just my $0.02 though.
