Heya,
i've a big problem in running two clients on my mashine. It didn't occur everytime and the action on screen can also be different. But when it hits, the whole mashine reboots without warning. Its really annoying and i'm sure it's not very healthy for my pc. First i tried two Premium Versions but changed asap to Classic because of the FPS drop. I used fullscreen until i discovered the flickering problem, so i switched back to windowed mode. The FPS is smooth and i can jump back in and out on both clients. Then out of the blue, my mashine reboots. Sometimes both clients are in the same mission, sometimes one is on a station, sometimes one is travelling around and the other sits duck in a belt doing nothing. So the circumstances are warying very.
I'm running a...
AMD 64 4000+ on Windows XP 2.41 Ghz, 1.5GB Nvidia GeForce 7800GT (onboard - shame on me *g*) Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
Drivers are up-2-date and normaly my mashine is capable of doing "anything", rebooting out of the blue never ever happend before Eve.
I've read the some topics about rebooting and freezing and often they pointing on a GFX or SFX problem ( by disabling Sound and/or changing the GFX interval ) - maybe i have overseen one, and there is a solution or workaround for this problem, so you can ditch my nose on that one?! Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advice! Wolf

Within windows go Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Find the section called 'Startup and Recovery' at the bottom there is a section called 'System Failure' If the box for 'Automatically Restart' is checked, uncheck it and then click ok. Next time the problem happens there is a good chance instead of rebooting you will get a nice blue screen with an error message on it :) aka the blue screen of death. Live And Let Live |

Edited by: Jamison Wolf on 02/05/2008 13:14:07 Heya,
I've switched to reporting instead of asap rebooting, but i've also disabled the sound ingame. After that, i didn't got a reboot till now. But i don't like to play w/o sounds... so any hints?

Got a similar problem. Running two clients will make my computer freeze (monitor loses video signal) after a while (around 20 minutes I think). A single client will run forever though.
Since it seems like my video card (ati 3850) just stops generating a video signal and my screen goes blank I can't see a bluescreen or any error messages. It doesn't generate a crashdump file that could be analyzed either.
Ideas? |

Do you by chance have an on-board Realtek soundcard? (even if you're not using it as your primary audio device)
We've been seeing an increasing number of people finding issues with EVE crashing or not running properly that have been linked to the Realtek on-board sound cards. If you do have one on your machine I would highly recommend disabling it in the device manager and seeing if that fixes your problem.

Heya,
well it seems my problem has been "vanished". I've updated to the latest SB Audigy Drivers and i'm running both clients stable. Currently i only enable the sound on one client, the other is muted. I'm using the accelerated hardware variant and till now i have not get any reboot problems.
Good luck for the others!
