I personally define it as someone who wants the mechanics of this game changed to decrease people's risk in High Sec. Others define it as anyone who doesn't PvP.

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Care_Bears
2. in eve: a term - at times derogatory to various degrees - of a player who either temporarily or permanently engages in non-combat actions, especially non-pvp. (note: there are a ton of different ways to define carebear - that¦s just the jist of it)

Some would say that a carebear is somebody who ONLY engages in non-combat, low risk activities which see them avoid low-sec all the time. Some other players would say that carebears are players who do ANYTHING else than spend 100% of their time PvP`ing, be it pirating, anti-pirating or corp warring.
P.S Whats a Schnookie? Should I ask?

Well - while we are at definitions, here is what urbandictionary says:
Quote: 1. schnookie an adorable trophy boyfriend/girlfriend, particularly if he is a twin, even more so if he is the cuter twin
2. SCHNOOKIE The feeling you get when you take your favorite pair of jammies out of the dryer and put them on.
Which of them or if either of them is what I had in mind when creating the name is my secret though.

Generally used in one of two ways:
First, to describe risk-averse players.
Second, as an Ad-hominem argument when arguing about PvP balance, to call someone a carebear is to imply that they know nothing of PvP. Usually slung around when someone wants to nerf someone else's favorite ship, which may or may not be overpowered. |

I think it really refers to solo play, and as above, usually refers to somebody who focuses on industry and mining and the like and refuses to play with others. Sometimes such people will come on the forums to whine about getting blown up, and insinuate that anybody who plays a pirate in an online game must have delinquent morals in real life. That's the kind of carebear that causes the term to be slung offensively.
On the other hand, sometimes you just want to mine or run missions alone for a while to relax, and you might say to your friends "I'm just carebearing it up today"... doesn't have to be a derogatory term. |

Carebear comes the from the tv series for kids "The Care Bears". It refers to player who doesn't want to "hurt" other players in a game. Carebears doesn't kill other players and doesn't scam them either. |
