I generally disagree with this idea because this normally results in you fitting your 10-20 ships all the same. If you fly the Rifter and want to pvp in it, then you will learn to fly one kind of Rifter, but you will miss out on all the other flavors which have their place and advantages.
My Advice:
Pick the hull that you want to use for getting into solo work. Go buy 10-20 of them. EFT warrior some fits that you think will work. Start with more "conventional" looking fits. Pick one of your fits. Buy the mods to fit 3-5 in that manner. Fly them until you feel that you have a good understanding of how the ship works: strengths, weaknesses, common prey, what to avoid, etc. Once you have this skill/knowledge, try a new fit. Rinse and repeat until you become the Rifter Master (or master of whatever ship you went with). Don't be afraid to try crazy fits too. The bottom line to not making a fail fit is that your ship should utilize it's bonuses and be focused to do a few things well.
Also, test your fits out first before you go out hunting in them. Have a duel to hull with a friend or get on the test server and try it there. This will tell you if you screwed something up or it just didn't work well.

Mnesarete. Everyone that I know of in Amamake will happily drop their fleet to fleet up with you for a 1v1 - hence no gangboosting. If you want this, you just need to ask.
My advice to people trying to get into frig pvp is to actually start with a dessie. It will be a lot more forgiving than a T1 frig. Also, a dessie can be a great ship for ganking FW plexers doing minor outposts. The other advantage to a dessie is the number of targets that you can reasonably engage.
For exmaple Rifter v Dram = Rfiter diaf, but Thrasher v Dram = dead Dram (if you do it right)

When soloing in a frig, this may often be the case, but the only way to avoid it is to not solo. That's the risk involved.
I had a Moa in hull a week ago with my Rifter when his buddy in a Taranis finally showed up to save his ass. This week I was soloing a Moa and to prevent the same thing from happening and not getting the kill, I called in the last guy I killed (since we were chatting about our recent fight) and we handily killed the Moa. If I wanted to do it solo, it would have taken longer and the risk would have gone up accordingly.
If you want to solo there will be times when poeple do unfair stuff and you get ganked, just be ready for it. Now I know for a fact that all Heretics honor 1v1's and ransoms. However, most of the ones who will give you a 1v1 are competent enough to not lose very often - that's the tradeoff there.

Confirming that RvB may be one of the best ways to get reacquainted with frig work and duels. From what I understand, "hunting" the way a solo pilot does is limited. I could be wrong here though.
