Perhaps most of you have noticed by now, and if you haven't you are hereby informed, that in your assets somethings showed up today that wasn't there yesterday. I am talking about the gift that was extended to us "children". Amazingly enough it hasn't been on the news yet and apart from exited discussion in various channels there's been no word about it.
One shuttle for all capsuleers, Jovian in design. It makes certain questions arise. What caught my attention after I was done gazing in awe at my newest ship was the term "children" in the accompanying note. And that further got me thinking about the meaning behind this term as well as this gift.
Is it really a gift out of thanks or to congratulate us? Those of you that have inspected it further and checked it's readings will have undoubtedly noticed some oddities. Is it a reminder of their superiority? A nudge in the right direction and the hope for reverse engineering to improve our current technology? An insider joke? Or perhaps it is just what it is. A gift. Not excluding that it may come with more than one meaning.
I was surprised to hear that there was no news of this even on GalNet so for those wishing to discuss it, here's your chance.

Certainly a surprise. A whole contigent wound up in the Navy Hangar, enough for every pilot as you say. Quite remarkable. Still, the idea of reverse engineering certainly appeals. These things are rather nippy looking. Its a pity to see some poeple never learn though. I heard there were some who had not recieved a 'gift' and there were those perfectly willing to flog theirs for insubordinate ammounts of ISK. Children indeed... ****************************

It could be that through reprocessing the superior technology a whole new kind of minerals are discovered.
Perhaps a reason to buy them.

"Children" to be sure. Insolent, whiny, violent children. |

Apotheosis is indeed a word inviting speculation about the meaning of this gift.

"Do not meddle in the Affairs of Jovians, for they are subtle and quick to anger" "Go not to the Joves for council, for they will say both no and yes"
These I know, but I never heard that one about gifts. I really like mine, for a lack of a better metaphor, it cuts through space like a hot knife through butter.

Well. One thing is certain, SOCT surely spent a lot of ISK on this "gift". Considering the amount of licensed pod-pilots that have received this gift I'm calculating that SOCT (or someone else) must have spent something in the vicinity of 3 trillion ISK. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. Personally I found the tone of the message accompanying the gift to be somewhat condescending.
And as for "...and may you one day walk with us as equals among the stars", what if I don't want to lower myself to equality with them?

This is either very deep or very arrogant: Which one do you think it is?

Is this toy worth 20 some jumps to retrieve? All of this supposedly superior Jovian technology, and they can't deliver a shuttle to the station where I or one of my clones currently resides?
*Madrosynth takes a quick whiff from a small golden vial*
I'm a busy busy man, so unless this thing comes with a mini jump drive or comes standard with a hold full of Bluepill, I think it's going to rot in whatever god-forsaken station they dumped it at. |

In your case: You are not worthy the gift.
Still, to be a bit more benevolent this time around: It has exactly the same properties as an ordinary Matari Shuttle. Which means excellent engineering and perfect construction. |

Considering that they apparently delivered them based on cloning facility contracts you will eventually end up where the shuttle is, sooner or later. |

Perhaps you have the free time to travel halfway across the galaxy to pick up a cosmetically redesigned Matari Shuttle. Does that make you more "worthy" of this gift than I?
What does one have to do to make himself worthy of a free shuttle?
[Take that which is given.]

Gratitude. Not for a material value.
As my teacher used to say about his crush: "A look by her was worth more ISK than there will ever be"

This is merely an idle thought, but I really must wonder whether or not these "gifts" might actually hold the key (or part of the key) to accessing the regions within Jovian Empire space. Given the message that came along with it, one could be excused for thinking that the Jove actually want us to "walk with them"... At least eventually. But whatever the truth of the matter is, one cannot help but wonder if there is more to these vessels than what meets the eye.

Hope, in any case. While the Jove make it obvious that they like people that are fighting for their independence, I have no idea what they mean with "walking together". I do not think that it would be "not exploiting the knowledge of vastly superior technology together", for that is too obvious and simple, read: offers no "gain" at all. Everything else just blasts my mind into the void.

I'd like to thank the Jovian interests for their gifts to us all.
I hope that this will be just the first step in increased contact between them and the rest of the cluster.

I find that hope is a precious commodity in this world, one that is lost easily and difficult to find. As we all tear at each other, fighting and destroying one another, this gift gives me hope. Perhaps we will see the day that brings peace and a cessation to the wars we fight. This ship, bereft of weaponry, represents to me a symbol of hope, of not needing weapons. I do see this shuttle as a gift.

I usually don't think too much a about symbolism that I see most of you you. :D But I was pretty surprised to see the new boxes containing the parts for a shuttle I've never seen before. Having a soft spot for cool and rare ships I immediatly assembled it and took it for a test flight. But I don't think I'm gonna fly it anytime soon though as I have heard stories of people shooting down these shuttles just because there is a very limited number of them. Don't wanna risk losing my new baby. ;)
