Edited by: Ysabelle nKataros on 08/05/2008 01:32:14 Edited by: Ysabelle nKataros on 08/05/2008 01:31:38 No matter what else you say about BRUCE's skills, leadership, organisation, experience or anything else, you can't fault them for bringing it and putting their money where their mouth is.
We had a healthy roaming gang of about 40 heading up the Fountain pipe. A few jumps out of PNQ we heard that warning was broadcast in local but there was little activity, so we decided to try to provoke a little by hanging out our nadgers at the station and/or gate. It didn't seem to do a whole lot, except that local very slowly climbed up. Once it reached 120 though, things changed and they warped in on the small group we'd left on the station.
Handily that group had interdictors and the rest of our gang warped in to engage BRUCE's own complement of around 16 battleships and an array of support. Taking out their support first, and losing very little due to not being bubbled or scrambled, we reached their battleships. Shortly after however they warped in a mothership and started using drones to drive us off.
Our dictors did a first rate job and kept the majority of their fleet scrambled while we wore down the battleships. Eventually they warped out somewhere to regroup, but the mothership was left behind due to a combination of frenzied bumping and judicious bubbles. We worked the Nyx down to armor, but he was then rejoined by reinforcements of more battleships and a second mothership. At this point the call went out for backup because taking down two motherships was a hefty task for only 40 support. We had our work cut out though because their battleship fleet managed to knock out our interdictors one by one. Our bubbles were then sparse enough that the Nyx managed to warp out, but left the Aeon behind, which then became the centre of our attention, although its tank was able to hold off our damage.
When our reinforcements were around 7 jumps out, the Nyx and more BRUCE support appeared. Our dictors quickly vanished and we resorted to bumping again, which was only able to keep one mothership on the field until more dictors arrived. Once it did, the Nyx was steadily losing armor - however when it hit around 40%, over 25 BRUCE battleships plus support undocked, against our 15 BS and support. However, they were over 150km away from the Nyx and did not seem to do much damage past 120, so we moved around the far side of the mothership and kept pounding at it.
At 20% armor and leaking structure, the BRUCE BS warped out to a 400km on-grid spot, then back in to close range with our gang, and started engaging shortrange and remote repairing the mothership - unfortunately for them, also landing in the middle of our bubbles. It was now a fairly messy slugfest, but our gang focused fire and hull after hull of BRUCE battleships were burned through until they retreated leaving the mothership to its now inevitable fate. On reaching structure, it initiated self destruct, but our combined firepower took it down before its timer reached zero.
Finally, we let RKK off their leash to clean up the field.

Dam* that sounded like fun. How many losses did BoB take to kill the Aeon?
I do not see why man should not be just as cruel as nature. |

Nice kill BoB.
Shame you killed my bomber before I could load grid to lock the Nyx tho. Given the lack of mods on the km though, my top sekrit mission to ninja-pop the wreck immediately after the big boom might have been foiled by the self-destruct attempt anyhow. This either logging off or self-destructing of caps does seem to be growing into a bit of an epidemic for them of late.
