Not many games i buy make me a tidier person, in fact, this is my first! Many might get turned off to eve when they first start playing because of the long train times to do cool things and tedious back and forth missions. But with the wonders of alt-enter you can be multitasking your way to fun! Eve can help you A) Read that book you always wanted. B) Clean your kitchen. C) Clean yer room you ungratefull kid. D) Check out that webcomic everyone keeps talking about.
Please post things you find to do while in transit! It might seem i'm bashing the game but i am really not, grind MMORPGS for skills and stuff are so much worse in my opinion just cause you don't have time to do anything but that game. This game at least lets me switch between games while i wait for a skill to train or go to sleep!

I love Eve because I can multitask if I have to. Here's some things I do inbetween.
I read the news from CNN and Fark I watch funny flash movies Talk on MSN/ICQ Play other games (check status on them etc) Do homework/study (but summer is here now!) Listen to music Work on my website Browse the net Watch TV
etc etc.
It sounds like I have ADD but I oubviously don't do all of the above at once. It just depends on what I feel like doing. Today I just mined and chatted in game. ------------------------------------------- "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. I actually have my screen in "window mode" running 1024*768. it's sufficient for me, I can see the information I need, and at the same time, I can code and/or chat all while mining or whatever it is I'm doing.

Having 2 pc's is great for EVE :) Sure I can play windowed also, but then the cpu and memory is still busy all the time, so playing other games is not ideal. I installed EVE on the 2 pc's, depending on hat i plan to do, I play it on the main pc, or turn it on on the backup one :). mIRC (and maybe MSN) is on the other pc so I don't have to alt-tab all the time and risk some crash hehe. I can just play other games at the same time etc. I get headache of reading when pc's are on, I need silence and rest for that, so not much reading since I discovered EVE hehe. And eve-radio is on once in a while also.

I walk on the treadmill. The skill training while I walk is like a reward.

I have my desktop in front, and my piano behind me (around 5 feet away). So, I setup a warp - put the speakers on high (so I hear when autopilot is shutting down) and then just turn and practice.
I can get a good 15-20 minutes per mission jump - and it absolutely adds up.
Plus it breaks the 'tedium' of piano practicing. lol

New player here ... am really starting to like this game.
I ordered it last May but never played it - had it for a year and only installed it recently. Being an old EQ addict, I do like the fact that I can do other things at the same time. I am doing an MSCE for work and EVE is a good break every so often to do an Agent mission.
Overall, I am very impressed and kicking myself for loosing a year in Skill training time!

What free time? I use transit time to look up corp and agent info and document all th best systems with the most lvl 3 agents that i have access to. I also draw up star charts so i can plan the best way to make the most money from all the agents that i use. And not to mention that everyone keeps Chatting to me all of the time, i dont have time to go to the john let alone read a book or watch a dvd...There is so much info in the game that i could spend months documenting notes, star charts, agent info and the like...oh did i mention that i am Addicted to this game...at least thats what my wife says...but i tell her i can stop anytime .....yeah anytime..
