Everyone seems to be forgetting it can fit like 4 heavy nos along with it's ECM - not to mention cruise missile launchers.
Heavy cap usage modules + nos = cap death to things. Admittedly i fly it with my Carrier pilot, so im sicking out alot of Drone DPS - but 1on1 not much will beat it...
You can run 5-6 jammers from its natural regen, which is enough to perma jam 2-3 targets - meawhile you can be running Dual armor reps to rep the damage they do when they get a lucky lock on you. For fleet i'd prefer a recon, but in small gang, a scorpion can drop drones and missiles on people... -------

Originally by: Schultze I remember a time when the scorpion was a good ship.
But I get the impression that it has lost alot of its apeal to many. What is the reason, I mean why don't we see so many scorpions around any more? Is it mainly a gang ship, and what are it's weakneses?
nothing, many ppl prefer falcons but a scorp really shines in large fleet engagments, because if u loose it ur losing a t1 bs and not a 100+mill recon
falcons shines in smaller fleets

Originally by: James Lyrus It is a good ship. It's just a one trick pony. And like all one trick ponys, when you find a horse that does the same trick, better, it gets left behind.
This right here makes my eyes bleed. Rooks and falcons are one trick ponies, the scorp most definitely is not. The things you can pull off with a scorpion are astounding.

Edited by: Cautet on 15/05/2008 12:40:43 Nothing wrong with it. It's a great ship.
With ecm drones and 2 neuts you can remove 3 intys tackling your Battleships.
With the ECM who can remove enemy BS from shooting your Battleships.
Most BS pilots in fleet action have just intys dictors and battleships showing on overview, or just battleships. Also, in a fleet battle battleships mostly stick together, so the scorpion can't stick to its optimium operating range.
All the above leads to scorpions being primaried and melting in the first few seconds of a battle, often before grid loads.
This is why many people prefer to use falcons in fleet; they aren't on so many overviews and they stay cloaked until grid loads. In small roams scorpion is just too slow.
But yeah, good ship, good insurance payout (I think you get a frequent customer bonus or something). If insurance ever became player run, this ship would be in the same insurance bracket as a Ferrari being driven by an blind alcholic 10 year old with multiple convictions for causing death by dangerous driving.

I love the scorp.
highs: 4 cruise launchers, recon probe launcher, heavy neut mids: 1 sensor booster, 7 jammers to taste lows: 2 backup sensor arrays, 2 signal distortion amps
rigs: combo of ECM range/strength mods
VERY useful in small (read 3-10) gangs. And if you lose it, you're not out much cash at all.
