Can players please post some general pointers.
A couple of questions I have is:-
1. How many tutorial missions do you have to complete? 2. Can you work for any level one agent? I want to increase my standing with a certain corp because of 5% losses in refining.

1. Er... can't remember. Did mine ages ago. Think it's three or four.
2. You can work for any agent whose standings requirements you meet. This should be any level 1 agent unless you've already been running missions for a different faction (which you haven't) or you've been convoy hunting and reduced your standing with a given faction. If you do a "Show Info" on the corp you want to work for and look on the agents tab, it should show you which of their agents you can use.

1. afaik none, but you get 2.0 faction standings so do them... although it won't help you if the corp you want to work for is not from that faction 2. any that will take you... just check agent tab in the corp info, there you will have agent listed under available and not available... work for the best one you can. to get to 0% loss you need more than 6.0 standings, so you will have to do a lot of missions
train connections skill to get access to better agents and social skill to gain more standings... and negotiation for better rewards

Remeber that the best agent (meaning highest quality) may not be the best for you.
Having a few agents in one staion will get you going faster than one good agent.
Also the best agents will have the most people running for them, so the places thay send you on missions will more likely be camped by player pirates.
The above situation (PC rats camping mission locations) can be avioded altogether by taking an agent in a high sec. system, then they shouln't send you to low sec. space.

1. Technically 0, since there is no requirement to do the tutorial missions. However if you complete all 10, you get a boost to your ratings as stated.
2. You can work with any agent you have enough standing to use.

Thxs for the replies.
So to go from corp standing 0 to 6.0, approx how many missions does this equate to?

Lots.
Sorry, I don't want to work it out, and anyway I can't remember what the corp standing change is per mission. You'll be looking at several hundred missions to get up to 6.0, but the penalty for refining at a station drops to below 1% much earlier than that.

Nine tutorial missions for the 2.0 faction gain.
Everything else about agent missions has already been written down: The IGB-compatible Guide to Agent Missions
Edit: link fixed, sorry, must've been in one hell of a hurry to make two mistakes in a row :-7

There is so much wrong with that link I don't know where to start. Suffice it to say it doesn't work, even after I modified it to the correct format.
