Loyality points would apply to all players, you'd just have to be here longer to get the good stuff....
Or, how about a sub icon below your in-game portrait that indicates your seniority in Eve... I can just see all the noobs pirates targeting the veterans just for bragging rights....

But lets give them a more RP-friendly name than loyalty points. How about skill points?

I don't think I have ever been called that before. Glad I could introduce you to Mr Roll.
Truth is i couldn't think of something about 30$ that would make up 3 points so I just ran with it. -------------

Happy birthday to CCP, and me... somewhere around May 8th i think...
If i could have one thing, It would be that my employment history would display my true age. It got broken somewhere allong the way. You have to ppl and places Ad Astra (the first corp i founded) to get close to my age. I'm allways amused by geezers younger than i am telling me about the "good 'ol days" of Eve

Veteran rewards are generally a good thing... but I'm going to have to side with those who say that SPs are good enough. EVE is kinda special in that your characters never stop "getting better" so you are already rewarded for playing for a longer time than others.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

that sound like a wonderfull idea.. ow ain't we forgetting something? i think we are ;) most chars 5years old have been sold at least once, so those "loyalty points" is right up where the sun don't shine. chars from back then have the unique sp of 70mill + so i kind of think they got their reward and most of them have tens of billions of isk and assets.
maybe we should focus a bit on the majority here.
i am not saying chars couldn't get something, like a mark on their charecter saying that they have been a succesfull pod pilot for X time blablabla, or some statue or something which only hold value as a reminder of what they have been though.
any unique ship, mods etc shouldn't be given. eve is in all aspect a game where things are there to get destroyid and rebuild, so anything that is a "one only" item will become a insane pricesless item especially if it have some high unique ingame effect.
and i really wouldn't like such a thing to come (i already think it is stupid that you ain't able to get those special ships, lets say like the state issue raven at the lp store if you have 10 in faction standing to caldari and pay's 10.000.000 lp and then let it "bind" so it have your print on it and cannot be resold".) I declare war on stupidity |

Well, I'd propose we give them red hats with a vet insignia or some nice medal/arm-patch after ambulation for each of the expansions they went through along with eve (meaning they have active accounts during the transition period). Won't imbalance the game and it'll make them look nicer.

BS....I can't count the number of nerfs that screwed veterans over. How many Level 5s have vets had to train for modules or ships only to have CCP change the reqs to IV's to make them more noob-friendly months later?
EVE is constantly getting easier for new players, it's about time veterans got *some* type of recognition. It'd be possible to provide decent rewards for time served that still would not give the player a huge advantage.
Someone mentioned Luxury Yachts, fancier shuttles, or limited edition non-combat ships that would give no tangible advantage but would give the player a sort of status symbol. Maybe a certain Title could be added to a player's Description to indicate seniority. Something along those lines.
I also like the idea someone mentioned about giving a reward item/ship that has the player's "Print" or ID on it, so only that player could use it or it's unable to be traded/sold. Not sure how possible that is with game mechanics tho.

I'm here . Althou I didn't start EVE when it was released. It was SO bad and buggy and I played much better MMO back then. Now, that other MMO is dead and EVE is alive. Perhaps a Homer Simpson-imitation is good in this place: D'oh!
But veteran point system is wonderful idea. Anarchy Online has same kind of system. I don't see any problem to reward loyal customers because more loyal and longer customer, better change it makes his friends to join. I have made at least dozen friend to play EVE because of me.

I think something not game impacting if anything. I'm sure people will whine regardless, but Rodj is right about the SP. So maybe a fancy hat or the like. I understand that medals or something might be implemented with factional warfare, and that could be another avenue. Just like, a medal a year or something. Nothing that impacts the actual game any. --------------

It seems to me that people who have continued to play eve should get some recognition from CCP for each year they have kept their account active. For some of us it is difficult to afford to pay the monthly subscriptions. Maintaining high standings with CCP should earn something in-game.... |

There should be also some special rewards.
Like free Tech 2 BPO for who were since the beginning in EVE and are now BoB members. Oh wait, there were.. nevermind.

I'd be up for this. How about titles at the beginning of our names? That would make things obvious, you can't have more than two words in your name. Something simple, but would make me feel special.
Hell, tie it into the RP: "Today the Amarr recognised J'Mkarr Soban as a prime example of Amarrian loyalty and dedication." or something, working with Mercury to do it. Hell, give me lands on a planet somewhere and pop it in the description. Doesn't give me anything more than bragging rights, recognition, and the feeling of accomplishment.
