Congratulations CCP for reaching the five year mark for a great MMOG! Eve has come a long way since it launched and it's future looks to be just great with Empyream Age and other new features in the works.
So what about all of us who have stuck with you since beta or the initial launch? Those of us (many with multiple accounts!) who have remained loyal through all of the development and changes that have occurred...
What do we all love? Ships! Ships of all sizes and functions with lots of slots, mods and weapons that allow us to do what it is we enjoy!
So how about a "CCP Loyality Points system"? The points are awarded for the number of years you've maintained an account with CCP. Where using your loyality points allows you to purchase those "unique" items that can only be bought with CCP Loyality Points. Players could earn so many points for each day they've maintained their account(s). Buy something and you lose those points, but continue to earn more each day.
Nice way to say "Thank You" for those of us who have maintained monthly subscriptions for years on end. What do you think CCP? I'll take a Caldari BC with a few extra low/mid/high slots and a unique bit of nose art on my hull......

Yesterday it was my 5 year EvE-Anniversary.
According to an article in the last EON, of all the people who started in the first month, only 1,500 of us are still active. The Apothesis was a nice touch, but at the risk of sounding snooty, it should have only been offered to 5 year old accounts.

I still wonder how many of the first 100 testers are still active. I've only seen one other one on the forums.

You know, T2 shuttles (luxury yachts) would be nice. Put some non-customizable modules in their slots that we can't take out. Maybe a few no-damage, smartbomb-like modules, so we can have a disco-yacht just for the visual effects. Or maybe they could shoot fireworks. Or have extra cargo space for Exotic Dancers.

Not customisable but maybe ships that have always been in the realm of NPC. I would love to fly one of those Concord battleships sometime, even if it was no better (slots and resistance etc), than the existing T1 battleships.
Maybe special implants that offer slightly better bonuses than teh existing ones. "CCP Grand Trader" for example that gives 6% bonus to cargo space or a "CCP Electronic Warfare Guru" that gives a 6% range bonus to webbers, jammers and scramblers. Maybe a "CCP Carebear" implant that gives the pilot a +1 warp stab bonus in any ship. A bit of flame bait with the last one but just knocking ideas around.

Ultima Online actually started something like that. You could pick a specialty item from a selection every year you played (I played 10). Pretty much just for looks, but that wouldnt really work here. There were statues, shadow mounts, etc. To not a bad idea.

Nice idea but it needs to be fair, i.e. not just for 5+ year players.
What would be good would be a choice of one unique non-tradable frigate for every 12 months you are subscribed. So if you sub or renew in june 08 and are still going non stop till june 09 then you should be offered a rare ccp loyalty frigate.
You can then go and get it blown up aka gold magnate and cry while 600 ppl laugh at you in a 30 page lolthread.
I'm sure CCP appreciates the vets and multi-accounters especially the old hats in upper management that have watched their company grow from a few guys playing around with python, eating pizza and playing office beer games to a international "dis is now vvery serious bizness" company with over 300 people - in fact one of the most succesful from iceland.
5 years is an incredible feat, hell, earth and beyond didn't even last a year and they had Electronic "we gots da money bit**" Arts behind them.

Loyality points would apply to all players, you'd just have to be here longer to get the good stuff....
Or, how about a sub icon below your in-game portrait that indicates your seniority in Eve... I can just see all the noobs pirates targeting the veterans just for bragging rights....

Veteran rewards are generally a good thing... but I'm going to have to side with those who say that SPs are good enough. EVE is kinda special in that your characters never stop "getting better" so you are already rewarded for playing for a longer time than others.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

that sound like a wonderfull idea.. ow ain't we forgetting something? i think we are ;) most chars 5years old have been sold at least once, so those "loyalty points" is right up where the sun don't shine. chars from back then have the unique sp of 70mill + so i kind of think they got their reward and most of them have tens of billions of isk and assets.
maybe we should focus a bit on the majority here.
i am not saying chars couldn't get something, like a mark on their charecter saying that they have been a succesfull pod pilot for X time blablabla, or some statue or something which only hold value as a reminder of what they have been though.
any unique ship, mods etc shouldn't be given. eve is in all aspect a game where things are there to get destroyid and rebuild, so anything that is a "one only" item will become a insane pricesless item especially if it have some high unique ingame effect.
and i really wouldn't like such a thing to come (i already think it is stupid that you ain't able to get those special ships, lets say like the state issue raven at the lp store if you have 10 in faction standing to caldari and pay's 10.000.000 lp and then let it "bind" so it have your print on it and cannot be resold".) Well, I'd propose we give them red hats with a vet insignia or some nice medal/arm-patch after ambulation for each of the expansions they went through along with eve (meaning they have active accounts during the transition period). Won't imbalance the game and it'll make them look nicer.

EVE is constantly getting easier for new players, it's about time veterans got *some* type of recognition. It'd be possible to provide decent rewards for time served that still would not give the player a huge advantage.
Someone mentioned Luxury Yachts, fancier shuttles, or limited edition non-combat ships that would give no tangible advantage but would give the player a sort of status symbol. Maybe a certain Title could be added to a player's Description to indicate seniority. Something along those lines.
I also like the idea someone mentioned about giving a reward item/ship that has the player's "Print" or ID on it, so only that player could use it or it's unable to be traded/sold. Not sure how possible that is with game mechanics tho.

I'm here . Althou I didn't start EVE when it was released. It was SO bad and buggy and I played much better MMO back then. Now, that other MMO is dead and EVE is alive. Perhaps a Homer Simpson-imitation is good in this place: D'oh!
But veteran point system is wonderful idea. Anarchy Online has same kind of system. I don't see any problem to reward loyal customers because more loyal and longer customer, better change it makes his friends to join. I have made at least dozen friend to play EVE because of me.

I think something not game impacting if anything. I'm sure people will whine regardless, but Rodj is right about the SP. So maybe a fancy hat or the like. I understand that medals or something might be implemented with factional warfare, and that could be another avenue. Just like, a medal a year or something. Nothing that impacts the actual game any. --------------

I'd be up for this. How about titles at the beginning of our names? That would make things obvious, you can't have more than two words in your name. Something simple, but would make me feel special.
Hell, tie it into the RP: "Today the Amarr recognised J'Mkarr Soban as a prime example of Amarrian loyalty and dedication." or something, working with Mercury to do it. Hell, give me lands on a planet somewhere and pop it in the description. Doesn't give me anything more than bragging rights, recognition, and the feeling of accomplishment.
