Edited by: Tharukan Desm''ar on 14/05/2008 11:31:32 Good post OP. In the end I'm glad that they don't give ground on some game mechanic choices. because in the end the player base all want different things usually siding with their preferred play style. Ill stick with what CCP want to make the game into. And if its not fun Ill just find something else to occupy my spare time.
Thanks for a great game CCP.

If I had to spend eternity in a room with only one game, it would be Eve. I hereby pledge my allegiance to CCP.

Thank god for that. Thats one of the reasons i still keep playing EVE and quit all the other mmos i have tried. There are tons of mmos that offer the same old bland crap experience.

A hint since you look a bit slow in the mental departement : only one quarter of eve player having multiple accounts and two thirds of all accounts being alts is not incompatible.
Secondly CCP has no 100% reliable way to know who owns a paid with GTC account, so no way they can make an accurate guess of how many alt accounts there are. Some serious datamining could give them a good idea, but they don't even seem to do that to hunt farmers.
This game may have 250k active subcribtions but my guess is less than 100k subscribers.

I know people are always whining like babies and my answer to them is "Make your own game if you don't like!" (^^,)
Shoot, the complaining that goes on here is nothing like that on the forums of the current industry giant.
One of the things I've found most surprising about the eve community is how together it is on most issues. I think much of it has to do with the lack of an evil thing called classes.
In other games people that get blown up go to the forums in mass and cry about their class sucking (and often rightfully so). In eve you are free to train or fit what you need to deal with the situation so that can of worms just doesn't get opened.
The closest thing eve has to class issues is nanos and that can be kinda ugly but class-based games get complaining worse than that for every class.

Between the free upgrades, free expansions and constant growth in content and game play; I can honestly say I am very glad I started playing this game in 2005, I haven't gone inactive since then and I can see myself playing in 10 years from now if they don't shut the game down.
Hats off to you CCP.

I have been playing eve for about 4 years now. I also played the Elite series back in the 80's which this game is based on (look in the tab labeled "backstory" and "videos" on this site). I saw a lot of simularities with the two games. When I first started playing the eve there were only about 5 different ship types. Shuttles, Frigates, Industrials, Cruisers and Battleships. They didn't have deadspace systems or any capital ship. They had Fugitave Hideouts (Which I wouldn't mind seeing come back lol). Which I think they may have brought back. But under a totally different name like hidden complexes. There was only one falvor of each asteroid type. There was no such thing as ice. Unless of course it was in your glass with your favorite drink. We used combat ships to mine the minerals Which were a hell of alot bigger than they are today. I hope ccp make the respawn go faster with the minerals or make the ice deplete faster. When I think about how far this game has gone. All I can say it wow. This game has seriously gotten massive. Keep up the great work!!

I have a lot of harsh criticisms on specific things, but I see a lot of cool, really fun things being added to the game over time, and obviously I still pay to play it. It isn't getting better anywhere near as fast as I'd like, but it IS getting better.
OK, love-fest over. Fix my defender missiles dammit! Why the hell does my Raven look like a giant cyborg spaceturkey!

I'm working on reaching my 5th year of playing EvE. I remember when I found the retail box in Fresno, California in Best Buy, having never played any MMORPG before. I loved it from day one, have never taken any extended breaks either. I worry always that CCP will eventually give up on EvE and move on to something else. I sincerely hope it lasts for at least 5 more years. I can't say I haven't been happy with some changes and I still wish lag didn't exist, but I dont want to imagine a world without EvE Online
Thanks CCP
