Edited by: Breka Muso on 13/05/2008 19:40:53 Edited by: Breka Muso on 13/05/2008 19:39:39 I am relativley new to EVE Online. I have played almost every MMO out there (basically im not posting this out of ignorance but instead from experience).
EVE Online is both a unique and immersive MMO that is constantly moving forward. Im am happy to see that CCP continues to improve upon the game in both fixes and content (many companies, after acheiving a profit, simply don't add content worth a second glance).
From what I have experienced and learned CCP not only does a fine job but goes above and beyond to create and improve upon something truely special.
There is reason why EVE Online is a succesful MMO with a constant increase in Subscribers. Players feel the amount of dedication CCP have placed into making EVE Online a incredible gaming experience. There is also a reason why EVE Online will continue to be a succesful MMO for years to come.
Thank You CCP for your loyalty and hard work. As I make my way through EVE I look forward to knowing that CCP will not abandon what they have created and will continue to strive to make EVE ever more one of the greatest MMOs of all time.
Although we may all feel some changes or additions need to be made to EVE at times I think most of us have a good idea of what im talking about. If so, please post your Thanks to CCP and let them know their constant efforts mean something real.
Thank You CCP..

Edited by: Buyerr on 13/05/2008 19:59:32 well the playerbase cannot get much smaller without dissapiring dude. (and 2/3 of all accounts is ALTS, and i have no idea how many is isk seller accounts but properly A LOT)
yer i have playd almost every mmo out there as well, and i most say that out of every one eve is the one game where the devs actually ignores the majoritis request the most.
a skill queuer have been wanted since day one, haven't been given.. suicide ganking have been wanted removed almost ever since it started, haven't happened, the pipehole pvp (which is almost the only pvp in the game right now) have been wished changes, haven't happened,
eve is also the only mmo i have ever tryid where the devs have tryid to "cheat" to accomplish something ingame with their normal charecters :S
(i am NOT counting the free to play game here, since some of them have a lausy support, but then again they are FREE).
i most say eve is a VERY unique game and the only one of it's kind on the market, and THIS is the primary reason it have succes since it is not the devs that have been very good at listening or making the game attractive to a overall playerbase.
eve have a potential to become the greatest game ever and to stay there, but the devs really don't even start to use the potential, too bussy playing themself i suppose... work and enjoyment should NOT be mixed together, only something very unprofessional will come out of it.. 1)Thats a funny thing to say, when it says in this dev blog that less that a quarter of the subscribing eve player base has multiple accounts.
2)Just because the players request something, doesnt mean it is good for the game. There are plenty of ppl out there who simply dont understand the intricacies of the game and simply want balance changes made to benefit them. I commend the devs for wadding through all the trash requests and still managing to impliment the good requests that ppl have asked for (Khanid MK2, Amarr omph in Progress, New ship classes, etc)
3)Cause they didn't restructure them selves and add all sorts of checks and an internal affairs when one dev cheated (a long time ago mind you)... Oh, wait. they did.
4) Eve currently IS the best MMO out there. Period. The way it is going, it will be for a long time to come.
So in short: Go back into your hole, Alt Poster. Keep up the good work CCP!

who wants suicide ganking removed ? the insurance, maybe. are you one of those who like to fly around afk on autopilot ? there are ways to avoid being suicide ganked. proper fittings, and a bit of caution advised. as to others, maybe you need to learn how to play?

you're so wrong there. if your hobby and work coincide, you can probably achieve best possible results. if you hadn't noticed CCP are constantly working on improving and introducings things to EVE. and that comes as a part of your subscription.
also: please at least bother to use a spell checker
imo, CCP is doing a fantastic job. The best proof of that is all these people who just keep on playing.

Considering the average number of online folks at any given time these days is three to four times the number it was when I started thats pretty laughable. The rest of your post can be summed up as 'CCP doesnt do what I want them to'.
So cry a river, build a bridge and get over it. I don't know how many times CCP is going to have to say 'working as intended' when it comes to suicide ganking before it finially penetrates some peoples skulls that it is in fact 'working as intended'. Your never going to be able to undock in a ship fitted with mods worth billions and toodle around high sec free in perfect safety. Your never goona be able to load up your industrial with goods worth several billion isk and autopilot it to market in perfect safety. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
Average 'grind and collect' players dont stick around when the next big thing rolls out in the MMO universe. People who thrive in conflict, people who love that pulse racing rush that comes on when the beams, missiles and warheads start flying, those are the people who stay here. People who scheme, plan, compete, who build empires, be they alliances or merchant empires, are the people CCP built EVE for. And you can cry 'omg fanboi' all you want, but your damn right we love them for it.

If the Devs have not listened to a request is more likely than not the request was a foolish one. Often one that would turn EVE into World of Warcraft or some other over rated MMO with no set backs what so ever. I give CCP credit for staying true to what makes the game better than the others.
And for all those who may wonder - I have been around long enough to have been podded, ganked.. pretty much you name it, it has happened to me. I have experienced enough to know this game has the best of both incredible rewards and realistic set backs. That is, at least for me, what makes it worth playing.
If you don't have clue what im talking about perhaps you should quit.. and do us all a favor give us your stuff.

I am not Brown Nosing, theres big difference between sucking up and giving credit when it's due.
Sometimes it is good to appreciate and give thanks instead of constantly critiquing. CCP has followed through with their original plans and ideals for EVE instead of listening to every complaint of bored World of Warcraft players who have joined EVE Online (not just WoW).
I would hate to see EVE turn into a lame MMO as many others have in the past when Devs give into every sob story of Players or lose intrest in the work and simply make a new title to make a quick profit and move on. I don't think CCP would but it doesn't hurt to say Thank You.

That's not a contradiction. If 20% of the active players have an average of 11 accounts, then 2/3 of all accounts are alts.
You'll say that these numbers are absurd, but then again the game is full of ISK farmers and TBH I doubt that CCP knows the exact number of alt accounts when most of them (esp. ISK farmers) are paid with GTCs (they can only track the use of the same CC for multiple accounts, which is not a frequent case).
EVE Online: a cold, cruel world where (RL-)rich people replace their losses with GTCs sold to poor students who need to farm ISK to afford their play time ...

Anyway, I agree with OP, this game has kept me playing ever since the first CCP webpage where only a few screenshots were available and you could only imagine the awesomeness of the game to come.
To sum it up: A game that will suck you into a black hole, you will only rarely escape to feed, take care off nature calls, and then your sucked back to RL which is called EVE
I have a more relaxed aproach now since I've gotten 2 kids since I started playing eve, but, can you tell me about any other game that allows you to advance along with your m8's while you are offline taking care of buisness

In the end I'm glad that they don't give ground on some game mechanic choices. because in the end the player base all want different things usually siding with their preferred play style. Ill stick with what CCP want to make the game into. And if its not fun Ill just find something else to occupy my spare time.

A hint since you look a bit slow in the mental departement : only one quarter of eve player having multiple accounts and two thirds of all accounts being alts is not incompatible.
Secondly CCP has no 100% reliable way to know who owns a paid with GTC account, so no way they can make an accurate guess of how many alt accounts there are. Some serious datamining could give them a good idea, but they don't even seem to do that to hunt farmers.
This game may have 250k active subcribtions but my guess is less than 100k subscribers.

Shoot, the complaining that goes on here is nothing like that on the forums of the current industry giant.
One of the things I've found most surprising about the eve community is how together it is on most issues. I think much of it has to do with the lack of an evil thing called classes.
In other games people that get blown up go to the forums in mass and cry about their class sucking (and often rightfully so). In eve you are free to train or fit what you need to deal with the situation so that can of worms just doesn't get opened.
The closest thing eve has to class issues is nanos and that can be kinda ugly but class-based games get complaining worse than that for every class.

I have been playing eve for about 4 years now. I also played the Elite series back in the 80's which this game is based on (look in the tab labeled "backstory" and "videos" on this site). I saw a lot of simularities with the two games. When I first started playing the eve there were only about 5 different ship types. Shuttles, Frigates, Industrials, Cruisers and Battleships. They didn't have deadspace systems or any capital ship. They had Fugitave Hideouts (Which I wouldn't mind seeing come back lol). Which I think they may have brought back. But under a totally different name like hidden complexes. There was only one falvor of each asteroid type. There was no such thing as ice. Unless of course it was in your glass with your favorite drink. We used combat ships to mine the minerals Which were a hell of alot bigger than they are today. I hope ccp make the respawn go faster with the minerals or make the ice deplete faster. When I think about how far this game has gone. All I can say it wow. This game has seriously gotten massive. Keep up the great work!!

I have a lot of harsh criticisms on specific things, but I see a lot of cool, really fun things being added to the game over time, and obviously I still pay to play it. It isn't getting better anywhere near as fast as I'd like, but it IS getting better.
OK, love-fest over. Fix my defender missiles dammit! Why the hell does my Raven look like a giant cyborg spaceturkey!

I'm working on reaching my 5th year of playing EvE. I remember when I found the retail box in Fresno, California in Best Buy, having never played any MMORPG before. I loved it from day one, have never taken any extended breaks either. I worry always that CCP will eventually give up on EvE and move on to something else. I sincerely hope it lasts for at least 5 more years. I can't say I haven't been happy with some changes and I still wish lag didn't exist, but I dont want to imagine a world without EvE Online
Thanks CCP
