Last night I switched training from gunnery to social. When I got social to level 2, and tried to train it to level 3, it reset back to zero trained. I was a little upset, but no big deal. I got Social back up to level 1. Now comes the problem that bothers me. I switch back to gunnery level 5, which I have been working on for the last few days. I had it down to 3 days and some hours to finish from a start of 8 days, which it showed when I log out. This morning I check my progress and find that my gunnery training has reset back to zero trained to Level 5, with 7+ days to finish training.

I just had this happen with my Learning. I was traning to level 5 Learning with about 10 hours to go. I switched to Defender Missiles to get to level 1, and when I switched it back to Learning it had reset back to 0% trained to level 5. Cleared cache, relogged in, etc. to see if it was just a display bug, but it does not appear to be. So I just lost about 5 days or so of training time by the looks of it.

I'm having a similiar issue with my skills. Completed Gallante BS lvl3. Trained a few other skills, went to train to Gallante BS lvl4 and the skill resets to 63400 about 600 points shy of the 64,000 points required for lvl3 of skill. Does it repeatedly too.
Corp mate is having same issues as well. He has petitioned but so far no response.
This needs to be fixed ASAP as skills are the heart of game.

Yep i just tried to train afterburner skill and got the email saying it was complete. it allowed me to fit the afterburner to my ship but wouldn't allow me to activate it saying i needed to train AB Skill level 1 trained it 4 times now.

it happened to me too! GRRRR! >.< I hate this, I hope they give me my 12k skill points lost back, I lost sensor upgrades 3. I immediately cancelled the six months plan I made for this game, and I am going to cancel the subscription completely if the bug persists, hell when world of warcraft will come out I will be playing this game only occasionally making the BIG skill trainings.. if I lose a 30 day training means I've paid them 15$ for a month where I gained NOTHING... pay to keep on your char and play it embettered in a few months is fine for me, but pay to just waste time is pointless.

I think skill training happens almost entirely server-side, so you cant actually lose skill points. I could be wrong though..
Try restarting your client, or changing to another skill.

Yup, this happened to me too, and I also happened to train a skill and when i was to install a component that required that skill and it said to me that i didn't have it. If you start training another skill and then switch to the one you lost points, it fixes the problem. It's annoying though.

I tried switching skills around several times with no effect. But, after the server downtime, it is all back to normal for me now. *phew*.

I have had this issue be4 but it has been clientside graffix error.
If you right click on the skill sub section and open in a new window, it will update the graffix.
Worst case relog and or clear your cache.

check the other threads in skills and general discussion. Some people may have a purely graphical display problem but plenty of people are actually getting messages informing them a skill they were training to a higher level had just reached lvl 1 again so its clearing points to zero on some skills.
Note also that the only response from anyone in authority was that it was a display error so no response to the real problem as yet.

I have read EVERYTHING on the topic, and I have attempted all the detailed instructions from clearing the cache to restart to abort and put another skill in training then put it back and so on, after 4 clean caches, 15 restarts and 5 hours spent on trying and documenting the skill points never came back. I am very very very very angry

Its not only a graphical error. When you learn a skill that lets you use something, for example drones, it will still think you didn't learn the skill and you can't use the drones! You need to switch back to another skill every time. Damn annoying! |

ive had this same problem for 2 days now. i have sent in 6 petitions and each time they reply i get a different reason for losing this skill. so far i have had answers like its a graphics bug, they have no records of me training this skill so i couldnt have, i must have mistaken this for another skill(yeah i have mistaken a 25 day train) and the last one i recieved which said we do not give refunds for things like this. basically it looks to me like either they wont admit theres a problem or they just dont give a crap about it.

I had this problem, managed a fix this way. I aborted the skill, then resumed training. My skill points returned.

Fantastic Xanxia! Worked for me too.
I had just trained up Industrial to lvl 2 then it reset to lvl1. After restarting to train to lvl 2 the second time the then aborting and retrying a third....the skill points all came back and suddenley I was training to lvl 3 as I should have been doing.
This work around should be stickied

That's not a work around... That's a pain in the arse... It should be fixed and petitions should be responded to. I have yet to see but one EvE dev/gm/whatever respond to any of the multiple threads about this, and even he only stated that it's a graphical problem and didn't address the real issue which caused me to lose over a day worth of training time...
I hate to complain, but please. At least acknowledge the problem...

Maybe graphical in some instances but certainly not so in others. I seem to be getting this problem a lot when starting new skills for my alt. Trained Drones to level 1 and after completion I had no Drone skill points. Retrained to level 1 again and it worked, and I got separate Eve-mails each time stating that skill training to level 1 was complete.
The Eve-mail thing is even more confusing, as the same thing happened training Social to level 1....got both Eve-mails (not dups as time stamp was different), but today I have only 1 Eve-mail confirming Social level 1. Quite the bug...even knows how to cover it's own arse. Still have both Drone Eve-mails....or will one be myseriously (or conveniently???) deleted soon?
If I wasn't so paranoid, I'd swear it's a consipracy

after reading about this bug on the forums, i got scared it would happen to me
and indeed it did, with battleship level 1.. when it finished, i go to start level 2, but i see it as still being at level 0, with no skill points, so i do Train to level 1... but now it tells me i need Cruiser level 4 to train that! (which i had completed 1h20 minutes before)
luckily, i just shut down the game, restarted it and everything was fine and i was able to continue training BS lvl2

Has anyone recieved a reply to their petition about this , i sent one in about 3-4 days ago and heard nothing , i've tried all the methods described for curing this issue and nothing works for me , i've lost caldari frigate level2 and about 8 hrs of caldari frigate lev3 :(

You folks think you have problems.....
I have 3.3m sp's accumulated on my character. I expected to have PE5 today at about 06:30 game time. (Been training it for 19 days!)
Now the in-game skill chart (and the one on the website) says I have 13+ days to go - but here's the thing.... the in game skill chart says I have only trained 330k sp's to PE 5 while the browser skill chart on the website says I've trained 751k sp's. to PE5 (Production Efficiency) My total sp's accumulated exceeds what I would need for PE5 in either event.
Now I've been waiting well over 19 days to get this finished..... I've filed both a bug report and an 'other' petition. And in the meantime, I've got 2 battleships and 2 cruisers which my corpmates agreed to wait 19 days to get so I could have PE5 to build them and save the corp a ton of isk. And now they gotta wait longer until someone fixes my character. 
CCP - you guys NEED to fix this! PLEASE!

this just happend to me with my science lvl'ing, it lvl'ed lvl 1 and 2 perfectly, I turned on lvl 3 and it worked just fine.
but after I pressed the reproces button of an item, I suddenly got a message saying that training of lvl 1 science is completed and I lost my skill points.
this wasn't a big loss(a hour) but it is still not fun.

Well I finally heard back from a GM about my petition. Took 2 days but hey I like to take weekends off too.
In essence he stated the usual fixes suggested in the forums, but added the following statement:
"If none of the above work as a fix the we ask you try checking up on your skills after downtime tomorrow. This will hopefully be fixed then."

they gave me all the usual 'can be a cosmetic problem' and all the solutions that doens't work then they told me tha tif that fails wait the server restart tomororw maybe it will get fixed, fact is after 2 server restarts happened nothing my skill is not back I really hope they fix my skills at next server restart but they won't magically come back by their own they gotta do something and seriously, some backup server to ensure skills aren't lost.. skills are everything in this game and it's not like you lose some work you did.. you lose training time that can't come back ever! it's not like if you work harder in 10 mins you get the 10 hours lost of work >.< PLEASE CCP FIX THE SKILL POINTS LOSS IT IS NOT A COSMETIC THING IT IS REAL!!

still sucks though, just made a mistake which cost me a few hours training time (though tbh i dont think it was my mistake!)
this bug is around since last patch, or thats what i heard...

Yea, same thing happened to me. I trained a skill overnight, changed somethign to get a level one and went back, lost my 12 hours. I filed a petition. havn't heard anything back yet. This ****es me off, and I'm stuck right now too, good thing they fix those quickly enough.

I've received eve-mails telling me that skills i've finished training have trained "supposedly" to one skill level higher then what they are, or were training to, or one level lower.
Last night i training, umm, either missile ops lvl2, or energy grids lvl1, and it told me after they were done, when i wanted to train a dependent skill that i didn't have the required one that I'd just finished traing. I closed the character sheet and the points came back.
Most irritating. Remeber though, it is a new game, and games have bugs (wish though that they don't). It is not good though when the devs have no answers.

Just a heads up. Follow a few simple rules and you won't HAVE this problem;
1) When changing skills do so from INSIDE a station.
2) Make sure you have completely stopped training the skill you want stopped.
3) Log out of eve and back in again.
4) Start the new skill. (Do not stop/start another skill after this without doing the same thing.)
That will avoid the problem (if it still exists).
If you HAVE the problem. Do this (worked for me anyhow);
1) Log in and out of eve.
2) Delete your cache folder in the 'program files/ccp/eve' directory (make a backup copy of the folder FIRST just in case).
3) Log back in to eve.
4) Stop your skill training.
5) Log out and in again.
6) Restart your skill training.
Anyhow - that worked for me. I still lost over 24 hours of training time, but it was a heck of a lot better than 14+ days. CCP didn't seem eager to re-imburse me for lost training time though.
Ah well! At least I'm moving forward again!

I got to train TWO skills instead of one. Due to the same bug reported.
I logged of earlier this tuesday (4/5). had put Electronics L3 on training. Had around 5 hours or so to go. Right now I'm not sure if i only trained it to l 2 and the traning to L3 was just a bug. anyways..
So i log in later, on good timing as I have 5 minutes left. after training complets i get the usual mail confirmation. i check the char sheet to train something else, i choose instant recall level 2.
Now, i get the "switch skill" poput about electronics not being finished and such, I click yes to change to instant recall. Nothing much happens however (no change in skill training). So I decide to relog.
Upon Relog my skill training in electonics is reset to train to level 2 instead of three.. showing the same 5 minutes left. AND i'm also training instant recall as it were.. with a 1h eta.
The electronics skill finsihes again. and gets stuck on 'compiling imminent' and it has been ever since.. I can't abort it and i cant do anything about it.. this was before I relloged yet another time. to now find that I'm training both Electronics to level 2, (Eta 1h, and such) AND instant recall (ETA 40 mins or so).
Strange stuff. This is my second day on trial, and well, I'm not to convinced of the game to say the least..

I was bitten by this overnight as well. I switched skills while in space and it looks like the skill stopped learning when I logged off. I'd timed it to complete after I got up this morning and found only 40 minutes or so had been learnt.
The skill was sitll flashing just nothing learnt. When I first logged on it was showing 6 days left but after stopping restarted it dropped to 8 hours.
Annoying bug.

Having similar problems. Taking far to long to train a skill. Should have taken just over a day, but everytime I check, it appears to have only moved by a small fraction.
Don't really want to start a long skill training....

i dont think ccp take much responsibility for errors in the product they are supplying us, aparantly most of the problems uve come across are many patches old, and when i loose skills or ships due to those skills*****ing up, or even loose mission bonus from being stuck, twice there is no form of compensation wether it be the simple mission reward or the hours of skills youve missed, mabye its because im not a care bear?

I had the same problem. I was training a lvl4 skill then swithced to a diff skill to train it to lvl1 and i lost quite a lot of skill points,around 20k, then somehow I got it back. I also have the same problem that I cant use newly trainded skills. I have to restart the game to be able to use newly trained skills. I hope I wont lose my lvl5 skill that im training right now.:)

I Had this Problem , Training Astrogeology Level 3, It got to commpletion immenent Then Nothing, all skill points vanished and reset to another 9 hrs to train, This is no Graphical Glitch and the Support i am getting is useless,
every day I get a mail saying we hWe will assume your issue has been resolved if we do not hear from you within 48 hours.

There are a few partial fixes to try.
Try and start the skill training again & then cancell it, DONT change skill as that never worked for me. This seems to jog the system into updating the level correctly
Others have been fixing it by logging for 10 or so minutes.
They are worth a try
