Your lack of information is stunning...
As to the dec of Ivy, for many months we ignored them being on many KM's from their running with lowsec and .0 alliances. We warned them, even spoke to them about it... nicely. I turned down contracts on them and still they did it.
After the last warning thier "former" leader even sent me mails saying how they would "shut us down". Well that was just to good to pass up and we are still waiting to be shut down.

whilst you are defining that concept you should get one of your spies in eve uni to suicide in a faction BS badly fitted with officer modules to boost your morale/efficiency or sumfing.

I was and still am the leader and I never mailed you. It's within game mechanics to wardec us, why make up bogus excuses? Perhaps one of your guys did get killed by one of us at some point in low sec, that's why it's low sec. I bet there are hundreds of corps and alliances who have attacked your members in low sec at one point or another, do you wardec them for months as well?

Ahh, another voice. Well, your "former diplomate" then. Perhaps you should have lead in this area as opposed to having someone else get thier hands dirty for you.
As far as lowsec goes feel free, by all means then join in the dance. Just don't whine when the band wants paid.
As I told your former diplomate. It was 1 billion to avoid the war to begin with, after that 2 billion and a BPO of our choosing. (gads I love extorsion and blackmail, the best part of Eve)
I wonder if your members even knew there was a way to avoid all of this?

Edited by: The Hooch on 15/05/2008 19:56:19 Just as a side note. We are planning a celebration soon with at least 10 war decs and more if the isk is right. I am open for suggestions as to who the lucky first 10 should be.
We will be taking contracts during this time, the cost will be just the fee of the war dec at the time requested.

the moment anyone gives into extortion in eve it's game over man! game over!!. Besides, all the peepull who don't want to fight or help others fight have dropped association the uni to get yet more isk anyway by now which is not exactly a bad thing, always were too many people getting rich and blathering about how much isk they made p/h or mining in hulks despite all the warnings, etc, yet never offered any help to the nublings.

Originally by: Kodell Unfortunately i have to admit that Privateer's have lost a great deal of my respect of late, due to there treatment of Eve Uni. I'm all for wars (we are a T2 production corp as you might know ) and i think there great training tools for the new players, they have to learn Empire fleet and small gang tactics sometime and better it be before they move on to another corp. But personally, i do think FIVE weeks (and continiuing) of non-stop war Dec's it taking it beyond the bale, especially considering that they are another unique entity that does a lot for this game.
It's not quite 5 weeks straight there has been the odd day off here and there and even a weeks reprieve I think.
I did used to respect Ivy and the work they do, however, it is a bit much to claim that it's a "new player" alliance when I'm seeing the same people this week as I did over a year ago when we had a week or two of war. Because of this and other factors, my opinion has diminished of late. Such as 20-30 man gangs that we'd actually happily take on if there wasn't 6 blackbirds and a few scorpions thrown in there (we do take those on, but with unconventional ships and fittings and it's not a full on fight).
That said, Ivy form gangs and a few days ago SilentBrick lead his troops to a fight with very little EW, which has restored a little faith.
My reasons for enjoying that particular war are that if Eve-University is really teaching new players that to beat a gang of 4-8 you need 20 men with 8 dedicated EW ships to ensure none of the enemy locks anything before christmas then that isn't necessarily a good thing. These players eventually leave the uni and move on into other alliances taking what they've learned with them.
Who knows, perhaps a little diplomacy here may reach a conclusion to the satisfaction of both parties. War is and hopefully will remain an important element to this game despite the growing numbers of people who are thinking differently. It's in Eve Uni's interests to teach a wide ranging number of tactics to the students - I cannot speak for my alliance, but I would be happy with a deal with a mutual war with the proviso of guaranteed no-go zones where Students could be left in peace. This would allow the freedom of both worlds and give students an important insight into combat tactics within Empire.
It's not like Eve Uni doesn't have competent FCs - I'm only aware of SilentBrick, but he's shown himself to at least have the balls that most alliances lack with a good sense of situational awareness. Something like I've described would allow students to develop under his and others like him wings. Not that I hold out much hope such a thing would ever happen.

Hit me up in game to join Goonswarm. We're coming up on a day without a single wardec tomorrow, the first day in roughly a year. Empire dwellers will never understand that 0.0 is actually safer than empire by a long shot. Once you move out of empire you'll understand just how worthless wardecs, and the corps who actually pay money to wardec other corps, actually are. |

Always nice to be judged by someone who knows very little about us. Your diplomat has proven that it's pointless to talk to him because any deals or promises are worthless. As someone else already pointed out, giving in to extortion is not an option. Privateers are just one of many corps to wardec us on a regular base, paying you off, even if you could be trusted, would make the list even longer. Besides, it's against our principles to pay.
At times of prolongued war(s) most of the newer pilots leave because it becomes impossible for them to play the game. We actually encourage anyone who doesn't feel ready to fight to leave. Because over the last year we've been at war more then at peace you see mostly the same faces of the long time core players of the uni like teachers and directors.
Once again, I don't dispute the right of anyone to wardec us. There's always some corp or alliance looking to make a name or to boost it's recruiting drive. Wardeccing us seems to be the vehicle of choice of many. I suppose this is the flip side of our success and well known name. You dec us -> you get flamed by our fans -> people who play the game to annoy others join you corp. Good strategy, I hope it's working for you.

We both know you cant win - all this will end up doing is seriously damaging PRVTRs ability to gank ships and earn ISK for wars.
Well, I hope you are getting well paid for it...

It seems to encourage small pvp corps to wardec privateers, which suits me fine.
If Eve-University's stance on PvP is to teach to avoid it then perhaps it would better if Privateers keeps the war running as it would disuade new players vaguely interested in PvP from ever signing upto the university programme. Would seem the only things on the Uni syllabus this year is mining and missioning - not actually sure if people need that much tuition in that.
