As I look at the chaos before me I see a state of calm.
Currently despite the obviously raised state of anger between the non-capsuleer populations of the Gallente and Caldari, I am already a small part in a large capsuleer response effort.
We as the Elite have banded together despite our racial and cultural difference to help those who need it. Gallente, Caldari, Minmatar and the Amarr working together.
So please, do not descend into war. Do not allow today to cause a conflict that could well last more than a decade.
We may be those who shout war amongst ourselves, but please, do not get involved with a war that could cause the death of billions.
Thats is all I plead.

I echo Captain Samaritan's sentiment. Let us do everythig in our power to save peace now, while the children of today still have a tomorrow to look forward to.
In addition, I strongly urge any capsuleer with an interest in peace to place themselves at CONCORD's disposal in the days to come.
It will be needed.

Tempered Steel Legion, and also many of my brothers and sisters will wait on what the Tribal Elders and Republic leaders will say about the Malkalen incident.
I know most are not looking forward to war and things are to early to tell what the reactions of the Caldari will be. But if a call to arms goes out from our leaders, we will fullfill our honourbound duty and defend the Republic or aid our Federation allies if asked; ... eventhough they were stupid enough to let a Nyx mothership out of their sight.

What happened today is tragic.
But what would be more tragic is to let this incident ignite a war between our two nations that will kill millions, or billions, more.
Do we really want another Nouvelle Rouvenor? A new Caldari Prime? Hueromont? If we travel down this path, we're truly fools and ignorant of our shared histories.

I agree, Ms. Nihil. But the never-ending cycle of violence to avenge violence has been mankind's curse since the first shreds of civilization came to be.
We can only hope that this tragedy does not ignite a war, but to be honest, it seems... foolish to hope any longer. I fear that this attack on Ishukone headquarters was but a portent of dark and terrible things to come, and soon the scourge of war will descend upon the cluster. If our species is to emerge intact on the other side of the coming inferno, we must steel ourselves.
Humanity's will to survive itself will have to be stronger than it has ever been.

Today we only saw what great resolve a man can have to kill and not care about other beings. I too fear that peace is just a phantom now, but I still believe that our leaders will bring it back to material world. The anger and fear ignited today are great, we must not let those decide for us. On the other hand, as you say, we must be ready for what may very likely be the worst tragedy of New Eden.

While leaders will tell us that war is a tool for change to the better, it is in fact a tool to retain the status quo.
War is always first and foremost a war on the people of the warmongers. Leaders decide to kill their own people and keep the subject of history, the pod pilots, divided and unaware of their potential.

People must remember that not only would a war, and these provocative comments about one, divide our great races, but it will divide families, as a Caldari married to a Gallente, I am at a loss to describe how I might go forward in these circumstances.
One thing is certain, he'll be doing the shopping this week, let us hope he does not have to purchase ammunition, but instead can buy my tears of grief time to heal.

Anyone with any sense sees there is no excuse for war.
I am not wont to make sweeping generalisations but I will let that one stand on it's own merits.

Peace and war are cyclic. There has been peace, since the Yulai Convention. As this peace has worn on, people in all nations grow used to it, and forget the realities of war. Even the more violent among us do not really know war - we are dilettantes in war, free to return to safe harbor in the bosom of CONCORD-patrolled space anytime we want. Generations pass, and new pilots grow up, dreaming of glorious battle and the redress of slights and wrongs we are too young to have experienced. Sooner or later, as we are seeing now, peace is eroded away. Sooner or later, unrestricted war will blossom in Empire space, and then we will experience the true nature of it. Our friends will experience it. Our families will experience it. And there will be no true respite, no CONCORD-patrolled safe zones in which we can rest.
After a time of this, people will turn again to peace. The slights and wrongs, both remembered and experienced, will seem better forgotten in the interest of peace. And the cycle will begin anew.
What we fight now in our corporate and 0.0 wars are "gentlemen's wars", where the combatants all "opt in" (by our presence in spaceships) to the conflict. Open warfare, on the other hand, will not allow us the courtesy to "opt in". Granted, there will be pilots and corporations held neutral, but this is a strange reversal over modern corporate warfare. Instead of the planetbound multitudes remaining safe while those of us in spaceships fight, our planetbound friends and families will be the ones most vulnerable, while pilots reserve the right to declare themselves off limits.
Be careful, then, what you ask for. You might find, once you get it, that it is not what you expected. And some wishes, once granted, cannot be taken back.

Why would the State and Federation go to war over an isolated incident caused by what appears to be a rogue admiral? I can understand putting security forces to the highest level of alert with high level negotiations taking place, but all out war... over this? Come on now.
The only side screaming for war are the capsuleers who seem to mysteriously be convinced that the Federation and the State will go to war... when that has yet to happen, let alone even show signs of it.
The sky is not falling, calm down. -------

After today's statement by the Gallante Federation - as delayed and cynical in some points it seems - I hoped the heads would cool down a bit. The Federation governing body declined having anything to do with the attack and admitted it was Admiral Noir's own choice and action, not theirs. They agreed to help the Caldari with the repairs, both social and economical. The only thing on the table now is what this help will look like and when to return to proper pease talks. Yet the drums are beating, and those so keen to fight won't stop the gears of war from turning.

This is the problem with racist wars (i.e. wars based primarily on race) - they do not take into accound the individuality of people.

If the war interfears with my buiseness then I plan to fight. Though, not to say that I dont hate the thought of war, I think it will be rather proffitable for a miner like myself. Either way it goes I believe if I keep a cool head about me I'll be alright.

I like the way you speak. Many are, indeed, not "behind" what Noir has done. But many were in favor of them, from what I have been able to discern.
EDIT: I should say that I am one such citizen, and in favor of Noir, despite certain denials by a rather soft President.
