A local pirate corp has declared a war on my peaceful corp recently. They have basically declared war on us for no reason but as an excuse to gank us without any NPC interference. Some of their members have a non-kill on sight rating with CONCORD, etc.
Basically I'm forced into a few choices, all of them poor.
1.) I can move far away from my corp and mine in a different region. Far away from my Thorax and corp-mates. I mine mostly afk to make money.
2.) I can camp the enemy corp into submission. Its not likely they are going surrender. It's mostly likely if we were to be successful in doing this, they'd move regions for a few days or week and come back to gank us some more. Plus is makes for a very boring experience for me. Camping stations and jump gate for hours on end is not my idea of fun at all.
3.) Quit my corp which I have been a member of for 1 year this week.
What other choices do I have?
I have little recourse as a peaceful player against people/corps that just want to cause me problems. The war system opens the door wide open to these type of problems. War completely nullifies the save havens of the newbie areas and I have zero choice in the matter and it has zero to do with my actions as a player. This is not fair.
Thus the war system poorly designed, IMO.
War should only be an option if a corp has destroyed at least one ship in the last 3 days or something. Then the actions of another corp determine whether a war can be issued.
Opinions? Am I missing something about war?

My point is the War system creates a huge loophole in which pirates are circumventing the security system of the game and thus making pirating trivially easy in areas of the game in which it should be realitvely safe.
And I'd rather afk mine than fall asleep mining in systems where there are real hazards, NPC and PC. The former is just as boring and just more work. Not fun, work. So don't talk down to me because my threshold for fun is a bit higher than yours obviously is.
And I'm not against PvP or corp war as a game play element. I'm saying the current system is being abused and I'm posting here in hopes of CCP reading this and considing my suggestions or coming up with a better system.

Edited by: Castaa on 01/05/2004 03:27:31 Edited by: Castaa on 01/05/2004 03:21:12 It's obvious that CCP wants area of 'safe haven'. The 1.0 - 0.9 systems are these areas. I'm saying wars are being used not a way to settle a disputes but to freely kill players not taking risks but want to mine in peace to make a little money.
Sure if a group of players want to come along and gank me fine but the pirates I'm up against have little to no reason not to start a war. They are already wanted and have bounties on their heads, etc
I'm suggesting CCP needs a few more rule to declare war or rules when the a war is in effect.
I suggest that CONCORD gets involved if it's in friendly space in 1.0 or 0.9. Or like I said ships need to be destroyed before a war can be declared. Or there is a large fee per day for the war starter. Or wars only last 7 days and there is a 7 day cooling off peroid after that. There are many solutions.
I sincerely do not think that CCP wants wars of these types. If they wanted a free for all PvP experence why not get rid of CONCORD, etc. The fact is they need/want a safe haven type environment. CCP has put a ton of effort into this. And I'm pointing out a loop hole around all of this. Peroid.
Mabye they want this type of activity, maybe they don't. But I'm pointing out what people are doing to me and how I feel about it.
I would like to thank those people that suggested ways in dealing with my problem. :)

Thank Cario for an actual response instead of a massive rambling defensive flame.
That's not a bad idea, however out of pride my corp is fighting it out right now and more or less winning in terms of ship/body counts.
