This is quite freaky actually - he gets my vote for the most ecclectic employment history in EVE

Funnily enough I see no great surprise; Joshua loves combat and is a devoted war-tactician and joining the seasoned fighters of Moo-corp gets him appropriate wing-men and an ongoing ticket to "kick-over-curse" campaign. Makes absolute sense to me.

Personal gues is Zombie would tear m0o up, i have never seen a force (unless you talk about Omega) stand up against an overpower like they did. Their tactics were perfect and teamplay as if they were in the same room. Was very impressed. __________________________

I respect m0o becuase they are organized an innovative fighters who don't run from reasonable fights. They also don't smacktalk much unless provoked. Oh, or come lie through their teeth on every forum available.

Right?

I have been fighting both CA and m0o nearly every day for months now. You knew that, right? You know about the lies CA has told to and about the CFS here and on their forums, right?
You know that m0o has had their kill list fact checked by EG, while CA has clamied something like 30 kills from my corp alone daily, right?
You know that I've had m0o jump into twice their numbers camping a gate, while last week I had 2 CA battleships hiding from 3 frigates, right?
You know I spent a month in Curse destroying indys getting 90% smacktalk in local, while after almost every fight m0o is either quiet or pleasant to me and my people, right?
You know that someone doesn't have to know everything that ever happened and have it all recorded to form opinions, right?
right?

Ahem, can we please STFU about politics.
This thread is about me.
I've had a very brief experience of m0o via TS and it has been the most enjoyable experience of my Eve existence. Countless times I have insuled Rainman for various reasons and do you know what? He was man enough to speak to me as a team player, to respond to my queries as if I was one of the guys. Goodness knows that ATUK members have good reasons to despise me for my forum responses to their threads and its quite surprising that the guys who have spoken to me have been rather friendly when speaking to me.
ATUK and m0o have shown more trust and commitment to my employment than anyone. I owe them a debt and I fully intend to repay it by WTFPWNING every single CA member I cross targets with.

Yay, i made mr blonde rear his ugly head. Once again your knowlegde of these issues is staggering....
Oh well, it seems josh got the balls to fight us again.
And to whoever thinks m0o are NEVER instagators of smacktalk in local...LOL! Lord Zap has a complete hatred of CA so everytime he comes into local we are met with statements like "HELLO F U C K E R S" and so on. Then there is TWD and Omni, they are always there making similar statements calling us cowards and blah blah blah... Bottom line is m0o are ALWAYS the starters of the smacktalk. I know i sometimes engage in a few comments but i usually catch myself, if only m0o could say the same...

You are Lame.
yes we smacktalk to CA and CA smacktalks to us.
because CA cant win against us, they are reporting us for smacktalk and hope to get some payback that way, heh.
I have absolutely no respect for CA, sorry but I dont. this reporting bull only supports that.
smacktalk is part of the game. if you dont like it, dont watch local or either block that person.

If the smacktalk is not severe then let it slide, but i mean if it is stuff like Zap and others throw about all the time and so on (circimstances may varry and should be taken into concideration) then i think you should inform a GM, because i mean you dont know what is goin on on the other side of that. a) any 8-year old knows more curse words than his parents. b) i'm pretty sure you guys got quite a few of them :) (too easy) c) noone smacktalks you unless nonsense gets dripped in local. then nonsense quickly expands and transforms into smack vapor, which condensates quickly and becomes bull****.

Banks is ok. Earlier stuff was enjoyable, later stuff is dull. Feersum was basically Banks saying "I've read Flowers For Algernon". His non-sci-fi stuff seems to be groping to recreate Lanark, but its not quite good enough. Just an opinion.
Pratchett writes the same book over and over again, just does FIND and REPLACE in his Word document manuscript for the char names, and gives the book a new title. *yawns*

Nah... "Discworld" is more like "Hitchhikers Guide..." in a fantasy setting.

Funnily enough I'm with Miso on Terry Prachett, I found the first couple of books quite funny but to be honest, there is just so much riotous comedy fantasy histrionics one can read before going ho-humm.
"Feersum" is nothing whatsoever to do with the subject matter of Flowers for Algernon by the way. (apart from in the most surface textual composition first glance analyis). Thats like saying all books where the character suffers flashbacks are the same ;)
I found it hard to read, but with good ideas trying to get out.
But for quality Banks science fiction I would really start with "against a dark background" Maud ... I love that book.

You have a point there First when I started EVE I tried out mining and due to my low skills and crappy lasers it took me a long time to wait for the ore to get to my hold so I used to read a bit while I was playing. I also did agent missions and didn¦t have a afterburner fitted so I could again read a bit while traveling. During this ca 3 month period I read the Dark Elf trilogy and 2 books in the Icewind Dale trilogy. I then lost internet and computer for 2 months and in that time I finished Icewind dale trilogy and added to it 8 other books about the same characters plus the Reality Dysfunction (which is kind of long). Schoolwork went straight to hell though.
That is I don¦t stop reading but it is drastically reduced when I have access to EVE __________ Capacitor research |

Miso, I think I forgot the tongue-in-cheek emote there. Sorry about that.
As for Pratchett, his books are social commentary, pointing out idiocy in modern society by making the events happen in a fantasy (not a sci-fi) world. Each book grapples some idiotic aspect of the human race and hits it with a hammer for us all to see it.
Tom Holts works are somewhat not far from Pratchett, however his historical novels are the apex of his work (The Walled Orchard, Olympiad, Alexdaner).

Anyone who likes Cyberpunk has to read "Altered Carbon" by Richard Morgan. One of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. As for Iain M Banks read "Excession" it's great. I gotta agree with Miso tho "Feersum Endjinn" wasn't a good book by him. Avoid "Inversions" aswell. Just about all his others rock tho. And for the ppl who don't like sci-fi, read some of his fiction that he writes under the name Iain Banks

well yeah, all 3 of them. So much of King's stuff is just his ******* fueled ramblings with some deaths thrown in. IT, The Stand, and his short story collections are about the only things worth reading.
As for Sci-Fi, I've got Larry Niven and Kim Stanley Robinson hoarding the science side, and Neil Stephenson, Frank Herbert and Orson Scott Card on the fiction end.

The Seventh son by Orson Scott Card was one of my favourite books for a long time.

Yeah, the first 3 were good. They bogged down as the series went on though. He seems to do that a lot. Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead were fantastic, but by the time he got to Children of the Mind, things were wearing a little thin. I was jazzed by the first two Shadow books... I still need to get off my butt and find the next one... or it might be two by now.

Iain M Banks is great, Terry Pratchett sucks, and please don't hijack threads without me in future, k?
Josh it's only because you have such excellent taste in fashion and clothes and the other more important things in life otherwise I'd have to hate you.
/me twaps you around with a Pratchett book

Cool, an Iain M. Banks thread.
I love most of his stuff. Especially check out "Player of Games", I'd say. Some might say it isn't his best work, but it really hit the spot for me.
Haven't read Feersum Endjinn, even though it's right there in my bookshelf.

I started reading The Mona Lisa Overdrive last night and I have to say it's a little dry for a Gibson novel. One of my favorite Sci-Fi books is a anthology called Islands in the Net. Very nice short stories that are indicative of the authors styles. Wish I could find my copy. Also Count Zero was pretty interesting.

ROBERT RANKIN > ALL
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

/me looks back over his shoulder at The Line.

MLO will always stand out to me for all the english / yakuza daughter's scenes, characters, etc. running parallel to the rest of it. and also most especially forever
"My name, you see," he said, as though this would immediately reassure her, "is Petal."
i'll bet you 100 isk that's verbatim, heh. say it out loud once or twice. WHY CAN'T I WRITE SENTENCES LIKE THAT!

Well its probably feeling happier for that ... seriously though guys have a look at Newton's Wake if you like clever politically aware scifi. Of particular relevence to eve is the consideration of consciousness and cloning. There is a section in that book that really gave me a lump in my throat thinking about the last time Jade got pod-killed. Kind brings home the issues of "dying" in Eve.
