Dont forget *****cat he is good too. But he cant gate camp in 0.4 anymore cuz of ccp's *** changes due to carebears whining and *****ing all the time.
OHH i lost my indy whaaa.
In my view we only helped the ship industry so ppl could make money by making more ships. And now what ppl aint losing as many indys and cruisers like the old days.

Originally by: Hellspawn01 Fist and Jexter would be my guess. Those have the highest kills and the lowest deaths and fight more than their own numbers and win.
Ok what do u know? Do you know how many ships Tank and *****cat killed in aurohunen at the jip? Plz..... You cant just say ohh they killed more bla bla... I would like to have a real counter in this game that shows how many ships you killed and what class of ships. Like in lineage2 with the pvp/pk counter..

There are some great pvp'ers that I have fought beside and against. I can't comment on TANK CEO as I have never met him in battle, that goes for anyone else people rate as good but are not on my list. Here are some of them and why I think they are good. In no particular order:
Galavet (RKK): he is simply the best fleet commander you will ever come across.
Jexter/Fist (Joker): Both Jexter and Fist are extraordinary, they simply have one of the best kills-deaths ratio I know of. After months of trying to move them out of the north, they are still around and stil killing ships by the bucket-load.
Jhered Stern (Oracles of Curse): Jhered is a fleet commander. He brings a deadly edge to his forces that not many others can match. Unafraid to take on any force where he has a chance of winning.
Toulak (RKK): Like Tank CEO, he has built his skills up to be brilliant. He is one of the best soldiers around. He has never been podded in battle even though he has participated in countless battles.
Sun Ra (RKK): Out of the field he is one of the best module tacticians around. In the field, his jamming skills are flawless.
Phonix (LOD): Phonix is a true leader in battle. He can drive his forces on to victory when there appears to be defeat. On his own he has killed countless enemies but he shines while being in charge. I know no other person in eve like him bar Rohann of Oracles of Curse.
Sean Arek (Gunslingers):Sean flies nothing but frigates and in this role he is simply one of the best frigate fliers I have seen. His scouting tactics have led to many a destroyed ship and fleet. At 1 vs 1, he is unmatched in battle. Lots of people fly frigates, very few fly frigates well.
Trinitron (Zombie Inc): I have flown against Trinitron a few times but mostly I have watched from afar as he slaughters people left right and centre alongside his corpmates. They are one of the few corps in the game that I truly fear going up against.
Blacklight (BNC): Like Phonix, he can drive his people forward into battle even if it means jumping 60 jumps to get there! He is THE master at losing ships while falling asleep drunk but during these times, he is also at his most deadly.
Rohann (Oracles of Curse): This will be a contraversial inclusion to most who know Rohann, but Rohann, like Phonix, has an unbelievable drive within him. He wants pvp 24/7. He will be the first to jump into a battle and the last to pull out. His tactics are sometimes questionable due to the complete and utter insanity of some of the odds he takes on, but more often than not, he will pull off victories where there should be none. I prefered when he was on my side rather than facing me.
There are others I could mention, a lot are brilliant soldiers like Darth Solo, Slothe, Bosie, Anede, Shadowthrone etc etc, but the ten mentioned above have something special that sets them apart from the others.

I have been seen many good pvpers and many great but pvpers and a few stand out amongst them, Tank obviously is one. Its easier to say what would makes for the best pvper then to say who is the best. Someone who can demolish a numerically supierior force and not die and has a phenomanaly low ratio of being poded is the best profile I can think of.

Tank CEO can't be here to defend himself unfortunately - not now or ever again (/emote winks at Eris Discordia).
But he does play Eve, far as I know he is quitting Lineage 2 because it is a smelly heap of dog crap of a game and you will likely see him griefing in your neighborhood again SoonÖ.
As far as DB Preacher is concerned, I am shocked and amazed that you include Rohann on your list of "great" pvpers. The last time I was in a battle with him he whined incessantly about his blackbird having 50% structure left and how he needed to go back to empire space to repair. For the rest of your list, it seems a little self-serving to put all your friends up in a thread that asks for the "best" pvper?
But then again, DB Preacher is a big loud mouth who puts bounty on her own head with nothing to back it up.

EDIT:
All that being said, I think Havocide is the "best" pvper in my own personal experience: he is amazing solo but even more importantly, he is a rock solid fleet commander who proved his skill time and time again. I just wish he would come back from that God forsaken pit of doom (Lineage 2).

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about who is the best pvp'er in the game. As for putting my friends in... Jhered, jexter, fist, rohann, trinitron are not my friends IC.

yes, HAVOCIDE. great fleet leader. i've fought with him and against him in biomass and F-E, and i'd MUCH rather be with him.
makes me think of another category: most likely to loose a ship: Shrike!

I have to agree.. our resident spamer Mr Spamocide was good at getting peoples arses into PvP ships...
Most likely to lose a ship... i assume i wasnt in the category if i didnt win.. :)
Oh and, if u fly round 0.0 all day in an interceptor, u can get 100`s of indy kills and no deaths... that IMO doesnt make u good...
Good is taking on superior numbers or ships and causing more damage to them than what you do to you...
Eve is a team game.... there can not be only 1 greatest PvP`er...
Good thing with eve is u dont have to be good to win... there are a lot of stoopid people out there.... :)

I think these threads are a bit ironic. How much skill is there in pvp really? Best EW? How many different ways can u jam someone? Hardest hitter? Damage mods and learning skills, not much thought in that. PvP consists of training, ship loadout, turning on modules, calling a target and game mechanics. None of these are paticularly difficult to pick up or ground breaking. I enjoy PvP, but it's rock/paper/scissors and the thrill of the fight, nothing more. In fact I would go as far as to say there's more skill in playing the markets and spotting the next big thing. I've got more respect for whoever came up with the BIG share scheme than someone like Tank CEO. At least they are original.

Probably one of the best "unknown players" in Eve is Atar.
I saw him take on 1 BS 2 cruisers and 1 frigate and he killed them all without having his shields scratched. Don't underestimae this guy. He keeps a low profile bewarned.

Tank CEO wasn't even that great to begin with, he had no friends, even his closest friends didn't have any respect for him.
A good pirate, is the one who sits and helps his enemy become a bigger challenge next time they meet, not one who diminishes and pleads senseless ignorance on his foes. He who does, will be the first floating in the big dark freezer.
You sir are talking out of your rear, Tank CEO is still the Real Tank CEO, i should know, ive been playing with they guy and speaking wiht him on TeamSpeak since eve went live! and is respected by all his corp mates, he infact plays Lineage 2 with all the F-E guys, and is a great guy, and id also say hes a dammed good PvP'r!! just beacuse he ganked u once while u were in your merlin and he was in raven, dont mean he cant PvP, that was just one of tanks ways of amusing himself and making money!
Also i doubt there is one singular shining PvP star in eve, like everyone else said, there are way to many variables!
And even the Best PvP'rs get blown up now and again!
Also ive fought some dammed good people, that never get any lime light, and nobody knows there names! like alot of the old KIA and NVA guys, and you dont see people making threads about any of them!

I've fought tank on chaos, never tq, and he IS good.
Fair enough. I've only ever been part of an evening of chasing him around Sarum Prime. I wasn't impressed, but then he mostly ran away from 2 on 2 (with my alt as our 3rd in system). TBH though there were other pirate hunters in system and he'd have no way of knowing they weren't in our gang.
Anyways, Tank CEO was never in any fleet or mid-size fights I've been in so, I'll take the word of the you lot of serious PvPers so far who've said I'm wrong.

Likewise, the only times I've encountered Tank was during his Sarum Prime days. "Sneaky" is the word that springs to mind about his behaviour. He knew that taking on a fleet of pirate hunters single-handedly was going to be a bad move, so he didn't (except on one very famous occasion ), and sometimes running away in an innovative manner takes as much thought as killing the opposition.
As to the question of the best PvP'er, the only real answer is "the player who was the last to beat you".

Edited by: JoCool on 11/05/2004 14:22:06 If you consider kill/death ratio I am the world's best - in JumpGate 131:1 For Eve I'd need more skillpoints/time - JumpGate depended on the players' skills - simply need more time for Eve. Unfortunately worm holes aren't controllable yet, didn't even get ready here. But honestly - I think there is no real best player. Perhaps a best team, but no best player.

I don't fly an Apoc in combat mate, I have one for mining & NPC hunting but I fly my Scorp or Raven in combat. Must have been someone else's Apoc you blew up, possibly Kanaan, I think he lost one in a fight in PF the other day.

The question is kind of silly. The problem is that even the best PvPer will go down if twenty people are camping a gate, or he happens to be the one in the fleet battle that twenty people are shooting at. He will also die if he is in a shuttle and hits a mobile warp disruptor or what have you. Doesn't matter. The point is there are always situations where the better person may not have better odds.
Mostly on TQ you run into battles with multiple people where it is nearly impossible to tell who is good. Some people have awesome damage dealing setups and with the propper support they can take any BS down fast. It may look like they are an awesome PvPer by how quickly they can own someone but really they probably could not have done it without help.
Only way to test how good a PvPer is would be to pick several more famous ones and make them battle eachother on Chaos with identical setups multiple times each. You'd do 2 of 3 or 4 of 7 for each pairing, then do a ladder until you are left with two guys. And even then I'd be suspect if the winner was actually the best.
I haven't been around long but I don't really know how Tank CEO got his rep. From what I've seen he ransoms people who have ships/setups that don't have any chance of beating him. That's all I've heard of him doing. I am not knocking him or the profession he chose.
The people I would most respect are the ones that never get caught with their pants down. Even if it means they run away more often than they fight. Nothing wrong with that if you are outnumbered. If you are in an Apoc with 8 mining lasers and you can get away from three enemy BS who have warped into your belt, guns blazing, then you are a better man than most. Even Han Solo knew when to run away.
